2023 GNCC Rd. 8 Mason Dixon in Mt. Morris, PA Masters A 50+ 1+ laps.

- This is the first time I've raced here. I went from an ok start then lost the rear end going up a small hill and went way back. But- I have to say guys, you shouldn't be 'WOO-ing' guys on your line in the first 5-6 minutes of the race because you're a little faster in particular sections. In honesty, my corner entry speed was slwo on the first lap just getting used to the dirt there. But I'm not stopping or slowing to let someone in my own class by me ! ...and would never WOOT at someone else in my class. Get a better start and you don't have to be worried about being held up in some slow stuff. If you're faster then you will get by by making a fair pass.
I did have a good battle with another rider in my class but tucked the front end coming off a field section and lost touch with him. I saw 8th (out of 13) on the scoreboard at the end of the first lap. I moved up to 7th on the next laps and then my clutch started going. I adjusted the lever a couple of times when I had stalled but it really didn't help. That did help me stay on the gas in the slow turns though. On the last lap I went to go around a slower rider and hit a rock which put me into the other rider. When we landed, I heard them say, in a girls voice, 'oh my leg'. I felt so bad. I think it was just bruised and hope she was ok. I helped her and her bike get going again. As I was taking off she said 'good luck'. What a sportsman ! I ended up losing a couple of positions and finished 9th.
I look forward to going back and getting a better result.

Yeah, only in a few places was it too dusty. There is a 55-59 class !

Thank you. It seems dustier I think in person because its happening fast and you can't take everything in like you can looking second-hand. The other thing that makes it super sketchy is the lighting changes to your eye when you go from a bright dusty field to the woods. You'd think it is immediately better - but it's the opposite for 1-2 seconds - you're blinded until your eyes adjust.

Roughly 2 hours. As many laps as you can get in.
We can’t wear cameras in ECEA/AMA races. That’s a good thing. No one needs to see me race 😂! That said GNCC courses never appealed to me due to all the ruts the quads make. Prefer single track enduros. I’m pushing 50 myself but only do a few a year just for fun. I’m not fast enough anyway.. its usually more about survival lol. My club also puts on The Foggy Mountain enduro which is slated to be a national next year. Look into it, its a great event. I’m normally a section lead and my wife runs a check. Nice ride sir.
Thanks. The single track is my favorite part too of course. Yes- I will look into that Enduro. I've also wanted to join a buddy who does the sprint enduros as well.

When you tell people you race 50+Expert class they think Expert just means you're old and 50+ is cute.
They don't know it's still a war.
@@speedtoad6167 Hahaha. Oh it definitely is. Over two hours, I was 12 seconds from the next position. Had I known, I would have turned it up if I could have. When I tell people my heart rate is average 185 bpm for 2 hours - then they understand a little better what's going on. I haven't ridden/ raced off road too long, and it's harder going up in age class - because those guys have been riding even longer.
