To get 12 smiting stones 8 to upgrade a normal weapon to +24 you are pretty much forced to go to post leydell (consecrated snowfield, farum azula, haligtree). But it is surprisingly easy to fully upgrade a special weapon early. There is a somber stone 5, 6 and 7 on volcano manor, a 8 and 9 on caelid open world and a "somber ancient dragon smiting stone" on a chest of mohgwyn palace.
25+ weapons are rare but somber +9/10 is very common at levels above 90. Since +10 is considered the same as +25 that means if you want to pair with people at those levels its best to aim for that weapon upgrade range.

@DukesUp1 If you're 110-120, just bump up to RL120. Because nearly all of your invasions will be against RL120+ hosts anyway. If memory serves me correctly, RL100 +20 +8 was a really nice sweet spot for invasions. Haven't played in a while, though, so you should experiment a bit.

Got a good amount of invasions at +12/+5 but then i saw this video and went up to +17/+7 and now i pretty much dont get any. Would recommend staying at +12/+5.
I’m confused by what you by total numbers, but I’ll try to explain. The left column that’s like 30, 31-50, etc. is your level. The Regular and Somber columns are for your weapon upgrades at that level with regular smithing stone weapons and somber weapons. One somber smithing stone upgrade is equivalent to 2.5 regular smithing stone upgrades rounded down, so a +5 somber weapon is the same as a +12 regular. Elden ring keeps track of your highest upgraded weapon on a character, so if you haven’t upgraded a weapon and get Rogiers Rapier at +8 the game will match you with people at the +8 upgrade range, even if you sell it.
"Even if you sell it" How can that be? That is an awful system for something that appears to be very well calculated. Are you sure it doesn't just go by what is available to the character during the invasion, i.e. any gear in the players chest isn't counted since it can't be used during the invasion... You can just pick to invade far and wide and it will send you to where players are within your range :)
Thanks oral bro 👍🏻
What is the most active invasion range you guys have found?
I knew pvp bracket were a thing. Never thought weapon rank would affect match making. First play through, 3rd day in. Currently lvl 50 with +12 & +4..
So.. from my understanding im about to breakthrough next tier. No way to reset or change built i guess? Don't wanna be crushed when entering next tier. Advice ?
Thx
The table at the beginning is a little off. RL90 should NOT max out weapon levels because then you will pretty much only invade upwards.
RL70 to 90 = +17 +7
RL90 to 110 = +20 +8
RL120+ = max weapon lvl
These brackets work much better. Try them yourself
Also 33 at 3 and 1…gives you 3 lvls on the 30s crowd
You missed 110-120
@DukesUp1 If you're 110-120, just bump up to RL120. Because nearly all of your invasions will be against RL120+ hosts anyway.
If memory serves me correctly, RL100 +20 +8 was a really nice sweet spot for invasions. Haven't played in a while, though, so you should experiment a bit.
Very insightful, thanks bobo
I get more activity at 70 +12 than 70 +17. It’s pretty dead in that bracket
I have more questions than answers and I feel I need zulie the witch video to understand this
Did they fix the connection errors yet?
If you saw some guy only using daggers and trying to parrie to who you killed that could of been Mr_curl a youtuber. Btw it was at first step i think and some one with your name had the mimic veil and thats how it started.
I think your WLs are a bit high. I have a 20+2/0, 40+8/3, 60+12/4 (should be 5 actually) and 80+17/7 with decent activity.
Bro, if I have a character of level 60, what maximum level of weapons can I use to be able to invade people similar to my level?
Got a good amount of invasions at +12/+5 but then i saw this video and went up to +17/+7 and now i pretty much dont get any. Would recommend staying at +12/+5.
What about sites of grace discovered? And bosses defeated? Is it true u can only find invasions in places that u have discovered ?
Yes, you wont invade places you have yet to unlock, same as co-op. Bosses don't matter except where they gate areas.
What areas are best for each of those level ranges, tho 🤔🤔
What do y’all mean when y’all refer to + regular and +special?
Thx man!
How are y’all getting the total numbers? Are you adding regular and special together? Is it the total amount of everything equipped? Someone help
Thanks for the info
@@theimmortalmessenger9705 yes, otherwise you could beat the game at level 9 with a +10/25 weapon, sell it and use end game stuff at +0.
lvl 90 I prefer to go with +20, which allows me to connect with people with +25 but gives me connection to people with lesser levels.
Weird. You stream your invasions at RL90 with +17/+7, but this video you recommend +20/+8?
ChaseTheBro too. In many of his vids he's 80 17/7. I'm staying 75 17/7 with my midgame invader.
I just went up because of the Wex Dust change and a heated discussion with Peeve-it’s 100% the way to go now
@@Oroboro got it^^
I tried to replay the game with the classic way of Darksouls by getting the taunters tongue as early as possible at low lvl. At first it was fine and dandy but it occurred to me that majority of low lvl invasions are either twink/smurf characters with insane weapons, incantations, sorceries or funni one shotting gimmicks. Then I took it upon myself to +10 a God slayer Great sword as early as Margit to fuck invaders too incase I get invaded by those kind. Having an absolute blast ngl
So you only wanted other players with +10 weapons as well?
@@orc001 I roam normally with an average +7 estoc. If what im going up against is using something dumb and broken, I pull out the Godslayer Sword.
@@constipation4650 doesn’t getting the +10 permanently effect the matchmaking for the character though? so it wouldn’t really matter if you pulled it out later or not.
@@DiarrheaChugger69 I managed to get people that vary from either average upgrades or high end upgrades. Wasn't really a permanent +10/+25 invaders. Haven't seen anyone one shot me or dealt insane damage. Mostly just gimmicky status effects or end game Weapons with early upgrades. Or on rare occasions actually high end ones, but still haven't noticed a massive difference.
Anyone know if this is still up to date after all this time?
It is!
@@Oroboro thank you!
im a monster and PROUD
This doesn't even matter when every time you invade a world you gotta always fight 2 or 3 or even 4 people and get juked and distracted while the others cast all the bs magic spells they can do and then t bag you 💀
How dare you invade their world and interrupt their coop pve experience, and the complain about getting swiftly dispatched from their world?
@@youtubeenjoyer1743 another one of those brain dead commenters, I'm hating on it but it doesn't mean I don't want it in the game, let them have their fun and everything but I'm allowed as well as anyone else to complain or trash talk. And most of the time its those people who just stay in a spot waiting for you to come and troll you by attacking you and throwing everything at you.
Hey Oro, I have a question, not sure if you have time to reply but I accidentally leveled my weapon up 1 more time than necessary. If I get rid of that weapon, am I still stuck in its level range? Do I need to remake my character, or am I good if I just ditch it and level up another weapon to say +8?
You're stuck in that range forever, even if you throw away the weapon, sorry 😔
@@Oroboro Rip, well thank you for confirming that. Oh well, third time is the charm. 😆
Do great runes affect matchmaking ?
What's the weapon matchmaking table mean? I don't understand 😕
Thank you so much for this, I've been looking for this video for so long now.
But if I wanted to stay SL1 and be able to invade anyone who just started the game, what is the maximum weapon level I can have. It used to be fine at normal weapon lvl 5 and special 0 but recently it stopped working and I can't invade anymore
Hey, is the fire + bleed bug back again? I just had an invasion in Liurnia like 2 min ago, and the guy used that spell to set himself on fire, and he just ran towards me, and the bleed gauge would just skyrocket! I remember this bug some patches ago, but as I recall this got fixed... did FromSoftware bring the bug back again???????
nice, super helpful.
I picked up the halberd, any way to get rid of it and set my invasion range level back to what it was?
@@bebobastard there's no way to get rid of the level once picked up. I understand your mistake. I've done the same thing getting that one guy with flies a random in the round table. Soon as he gave me the level eight it basically ruined my character levels so short no you can't get rid of levels once you got themweapons included it's weird, but it happens
You should go back to making invasion vids them shits slapped hard lmao
What places would you recommend for each range?
Can i invade areas i haven't visited myself?
Because that would mean every time i make a new build, i have to ride all across the map to have all the areas unlocked for invasions.
You sure can't-and that's exactly what that means 🥲 have fun!
@@Oroboro oh man...
Oke thanks. But it's not THAT bad. At least you can ignore dungeons you don't like, so you don't invade there.
Am i scuffing myself by being lvl 60 with +10/4 upgrades?
I guess maybe the best way to find out is to backup my save and try it out...
in defense of twink invasions: everyone you invade is being carried by ng+ fully decked out characters, and low level hosts are equipped with item drops from their friends.
I mean the low level invasions today are nothing like the ones when this game was first out people would kill them selves half the time
I twink at low levels with a level 30 character, but to be fair, I still had to go through like half the world collecting and killing bosses for golden seeds, pots, key items, recipes, crystal tears, spells, incantations, sacred tears and smithing stones, all while using like +3 weapons. The only thing I twinked were un-upgraded weapons and ashes. Any low level player I twink has the same opportunity to get the equipment I did.
No, you’re just making excuses to fight against players that don’t even have any crimson flask upgrades yet. Nothing besides basic armor and weapons, and MAYBE two talisman slots.
You’re just a punk desperate for a win.
@@BLK_MN You are 100% correct except you forgot to mention that you can only invade in 2v1 or 3v1 or 4v1 unless the host explicitly invites you with an item.
Dumb But important question, the weapon that matters when I Am invading is the one that i have equiped or the highest at my inventory?
The highest ever, doesn't matter if you put it away or discard it, the game will remember your highest upgrade
@@Oroboro love u
Love you man been watching sense dark souls 3 came out
You are a monster. Any chance for another cosplay video? Maybe a dark souls 3 favorite? Slave night Gael?
Two more coming Soon TM
does this apply to co op?
I totally forgot to mention that-yes it applies exactly the same for coop if you aren't using a password!
@@Oroboro ah thanks mate!
I guess I'm a monster then.
i dont understand why they dont just make all of this easy by scaling your weapon to the host's
look how it worked out with friendly phantoms, invade a lvl 30 dude with a RL700 friend who spams SoR and has a shit ton of endurance and health, they should first fix the phantom balancing part
short, informative and sexy thumbnail.
huh I thought that'd be longer
So my RL180 with maxed out weapons is a good idea or not?
I try lvl 42 invasions and I get matched with people who somehow have lategame items and spells already. Really makes it unfun.
But how do I get a weapon or armor set that is towards the end of the game but I am only lvl 90 and cannot get there because I will die no matter what ? Or for example when I want to dual wield a weapon which is just possible when I start a Ng+ ?
1. People beat the game at level 1, it is possible, although difficult
2. You can get another player to drop these items for you to make it a lot easier
If I could like this video multiple times I would.
Vigor stats for each level range?
Love your armored core tutorial hopefully we'll see another tutorial for the next armored core
I had no idea that your weapon level is a factor in matchmaking. What if I invade with a +1 weapon and then switch it to a +12 weapon for example?
As far as i know it doesnt change anything because even if you invade with a +1 the game also considers that + 12 weapon sitting in your inventory.
@@marioscalzi493 my point exactly!
the game takes into account the highest upgrade on a weapon you've made on your character, doesn't matter whether or not you still have that weapon in your posession.
I am RL 90 with a +25 and a +10 weapon... can I still invade other players?
