Switch Lite is the same price, and can be played without internet, if your not a hardcore PS users I would honestly recommend that, especially since that opens up a whole library that isn’t on the PS5
@@Blast1314 Yeah, but the lite with that screen is not really my stile. I mean, even the OLED is nothing wow but still a better choice than this PS5 handle.
one major thing i wanna correct, no, this thing does not have better resolution than most phones. Phones such as iPhone 13 Pro and newer and basically all samsungs from note 9 and above have 120hz oled or better with better resolution than the Portable. so phones have better displays, much better, but they'll have bezels due to wrong aspect ratio. When making a video, don't exaggerate to sell a product.
The reason why I did get one is because I wanted to be able to lay in my bed and play my games without needing to take the TV from my parents, who watch TV almost every day 😅😅😅 but I don’t really care the most of the time I play on PC but sometimes I just want to play PlayStation and this is the best way to do it without needing to claim the TV
I’m not a PlayStation guy, but even if I was, I don’t think I would care too much about the Portal. Streaming can be good and more convenient in some cases, but I personally like being able to play games locally on that device. It’s just more consistent since you don’t have to worry about poor connectivity or service outages.
For those who don't know: If you have a Steam Deck or any handheld PC, you are also able to do the cloud and remote play for both Xbox, Nvidia, and PlayStation. Hopefully, Cloud Gaming gets to a point that it feels almost equivalent to native.
What no one talks about is streaming eats up a whole lot of data. I ran through 1.2 tb in one month just gaming 4 hours a day on portal. You will need unlimited internet if you use the portal.
In my opinion the Steam deck LCD is around the same price and you can also use it as a PlayStation portal. It actually performs better than the Portal. And you don’t need a premium subscription to cloud play. On the steam Deck you have access to PC and Xbox games and you can play the games on the go even without internet. There are some downsides like the lack of a adaptive triggers and th rumble isn’t as good as PlayStation’s but in my opinion there are more pros than cons to buy a steam deck over a Ps Portal.
@@CaptainJZZ Yes, there is a third party solution to let you stream your PlayStation games to them same as the portal. As for Xbox and PC games yes you still need to buy them though there is a major sale every 2 months or so and several subscription services that toss games at you for a low flat rate and grey market shops that sell even brand new games at a discount.
@@MetaMdad I feel like Nintendo is the only good option in my opinion. Nintendo switch is the first thing that pops up in my mind when I hear “portable” Edit: sorry I have bad spelling
@@CaptainJZZ If you already own the games on your PlayStation you would not need to buy the games again. Because the application just streams the video audio and controls from your PS5/PS4. You will need to have a good internet connection to Stream the games from your PlayStation. You would probably need at least 100mbps internet for it to work well.
I rather have A PSVita than this tbh, this "portal" is just weird but looks fine ? Also other me who prefers Offline game play, pushing people online while avoiding mess is rather tricky and sometimes is impossible. i also play older and cool games on the go with my PSVita ngl
I would have bought one if I were still in the army. You know...someone who spends a lot of time AWAY from home. The only thing that I don't understand is there is no web browser at lainch, so if you're on a public wifi where you have to login (almost every if not every military base) you couldn't use it at launch.
I think that this would be a more interesting device if it was just a cloud gaming device. This would be a cheap way to access the entirety of the PS5 library. A device to standup to "everything is an xbox". Which could be a better use case for those of us on PC that don't want to spend $350-700 on a console and then $200 for an accessory. The steam deck was a huge if for me and while I use it, like my switch, it is used far less often unless traveling. And it has all the functions of the PS Portal and is a standalone device. Though I do very much see your point of the kid with two households. Leave the PS5 and take the Portal, that would have been a game changer as a kid. But this all falls apart while traveling(I.E. Planes) for me.
if Sony actually makes a real handheld then it should not just be a portable PS5 which is what it most likely will be. of course for people who already have a portal it is not necessary, you can already play all the games of that thing on PS6 5 and for a lot of games on 4, so it is basically competing against 4 versions of itself, it should also have to compete against the Xbox handheld which will most likely have game pass and maybe even Steam, I don't have to explain why Nintendo is going to be very difficult to compete in this market, all the PC handheld PCs would be a challenge. it would simply be destroyed with how much competition it would have and how strong the competition would be
i would say its a missed opportunity to not be able to use it for Split screen play but, that might be a downside to Remote Play, but it maybe a bit of a grey area and step on Nintendo's toes in how that mechanic worked w/ the WiiU. as for Jailbreaking it.. it WAS possible at some point but its been since patched out.and to even function these haveto stay upto date on it's Firmware :/
Why not buy the ELO Vagabond and an 8-inch tablet. At that point, it would do more than the portal. It's also been confirmed that ps portal and remoteplay app have the same latency.
Fun fact I actually got the portal for christmas, and it's always really fun. I've used it rarely I. Although I do you use it for fun occasions? Though unfortunately, I can't take it outside. Cause or anywhere me and my mother are trying to figure that out, but yeah, anyways, should I keep playing it? Let me know
First off my phone is 12 times bigger than that screen. Well, not the place you in a portal talking about the little phone that you thing you had to put up to it. And you could always get a backbone and use an iPad or an Android tablet, right in remote play and have a ginormous screen. Cause hype has go to 12 inches. And that's a basically TV you hold it in your hands. Well mini TV, but still, you get to hold it your hands and it's bigger than that. Jung, it is just remote play. I don't see the point of even buying that piece of junk. I mean, yes, it has a juices for some teepen. But when I see someone having I laugh directly into their face and say, wow. You really love Sony, so much. You buy every piece of junk that they have. I bet you have a Sony monitor you play your PlayStation on because to me, I may be own AP. S5 and Xbox Series X and APC and a Nintendo switch. I would never pay for that junk. That's user controller in a monitor And in the streaming part, I'm not paying that much money to stream if they can add it. Where is discount? It only if you wanna stream, then maybe I'll think about it. But I'm not paying almost a $160. Just to stream video games on a toaster, with a controller attached to it and by the way, phone supports one twenty hertz refresh rate a hunt, four 8k gaming i spend a lot of money in this phone, so stop selling phone, short, because phones are good now. These days, they beat game. Use on consoles a lot. Now you can buy a razor phone and pretty much dominate a console. There's a lot of gaming films that dominate consoles. Now I'm not saying it. Replace your console with a phone. But I'm just saying They can compete now
