Matt just has a very abrasive personality to some, Matt is very much true to who he is and rightfully shouldn't apologize for it. But not everyone is gonna vibe with him. There's been many many times where I've strongly disliked Matt due to his stubbornness. However, I still respect him and enjoy seeing him in MFW. You also have to remember that there's a good portion of this community that have never seen Matt, it's been My Girlfriend/Wife Watches for a long time, obviously people who have watched Holden for years now like you and I know what to expect from Matt but newer viewers don't. In the end, Matt takes it with a grain of salt and so should we.

The release date for the next film has been delayed indefinitely, due to the writer's strike. Going to be a long time, compared to the original 8-9month wait
The "My Friend Watches..." series kept me going all throughout the pandemic. I always enjoy Matt's reactions and commentary. It's so great to see him in the videos again!
As a huge movie buff, I think Matt’s takes are CRAZY usually BUT I love hearing his opinions because it’s soo different then what I’m normally exposed.
I agree with most of his takes, even Star Wars though I love the ideas in Star Wars I really don't really enjoy the movies. I just think people give out too many A's and the really great movies can't stand out.

I didn't comment last time Matt was back but after hearing how unappreciated he was by a small minority I feel like I should. It really is good to see him back! He brings a different energy to these reactions that's appreciated, and it's interesting to hear opinions from people of different walks of life. It can end up making the videos quite insightful and even more entertaining to watch!
36:08 to answer matt she does look a tiny bit different. Miles's mom in universe 42 has green eyes as opposed to brown ones in the OG universe. Also there are a lot of subtle hints in the build up that clue you in where everything that miles owns that is red in the OG universe is purple in universe 42. Alluding to the prowler(purple) vs spiderman(red) motif.
it was foreshadowed when spot tells miles that the spider that bit him came from universe 42, also when they explain that the spider transporter works by scaning the traveler dna to find the origin universe. Also it was explicitly stated in the movie that miles was send to universe 42, when the spider transporter was working, on the screen it flashed universe 42 after scaning miles, and miles mom didn't get was what he talking about, because there was no spider-men in her world. From a movie perspective, you could feel it was closing to some kind of ending, gwen and miles were going to the same place and arrived to find two diferent situations, if they arrived together the movie would have no good place to leave a cliffhanger
I’d slightly disagree when you say that the movie doesn’t have any resolution, I think Gwen’s whole ending speech when compared to here opening monologue, paints a beginning, middle, and end for her arc as a character, I definitely think the main conflict and Miles’s story still needs to be finished, however this movie isn’t just about miles, if anything Gwen is like the second main character, it isn’t a perfect ending by any means but I don’t think it’s just a pure cliffhanger
I love seeing when people realize he's in the wrong universe. When I saw it in theaters, I saw that the screen on the machine said "Earth-42" so I knew from even before he got there but I love how many different things tip different people off. It's so cool
I don't understand why him being in a universe is that amazing to people. I liked across the spiderverse a lot, it's not my favorite but (I like the first one more but then again part 2 didn't really have an ending) much of the second half of the film felt blah to me. The art and score was absolutely amazing though. I'm just a story guy and it just felt drawn out at the end.
Pter Ptarker (Spider-Rex) was introduced August of last year in Edge of Spider-Verse Vol 2 #1, he was a Pteranodon being chased by the T-Rex Norrannosaurman when they were both hit by a meteorite containing alien spiders, they switched bodies and found themselves in constume, with Pter gaining the abilities of a Spider. Swinging away he accidently drops a tree branch on Norrannosaurman and also kills some innocent dinos and that's how he learns about power and responsibility.
Actually, I don't believe the dinosaur casualties died. Cuz even after crushing them they say something along the lines of "Oww.. That hurt." and "Whats the big idea?!"

Fun fact if you didn't know Holden, a part of Gwen's theme was inspired by the original Spider-Man cartoon theme song. The way the composer sneaked this into Gwen's theme is honestly quite clever. 12:15‐12:17 the game that Ganke is playing, is gameplay from the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 game
the thing i love about this movie is that even though this is a cliffhanger, it still feels like and is a complete story because of Gwen. The movie starts with Gwen leaving her band and ends with her finding a new one. Yes the overarching story of the trilogy is and will be miles story but this movie really builds Gwen as a character to leave room for Miles to shine in the next movie, super excited to see this trilogy come to a close.
The orchestral score was nothing but AMAZING. Daniel Pemberton elevated such heights in unique electric instruments like synthesizers, contemporary instruments and rock instruments for many of the different character's themes and sequences. He really brought a grand and bombastic level of orchestral play with the many action filled moments but also grounded the film when needed for the emotional or dramatic moments like Miles with Rio or Gwen and Gwen and her moments with Captain Stacy. I really hope he'll get great recognition during awards season next year
I'm glad Matt is back. Watching him hate Star Wars, Harry Potter, DC, etc. Then watching him slowly fall in love with the Marvel universe to the point where he was actually in tears at moments during Endgame. It's what becoming a fan is all about. Seeing it happen to someone else is fun. Also miss seeing Jen & Jenna. Hopefully, they show up in later my friend watches.
My biggest thing with the Matt's opinion on deaths not mattering because they bring them back is that it belittles or completely ignores the character development caused by the "death". Gamora's death was real and had real impact on Peter and the Guardians and the way Gunn handled it was honestly the best case scenario. That movie deserves so much more than you guys gave it credit for IMO.
@@yousifhammoudehI'd agree as long as them dying and coming back doesn't impact the story then yeah the stakes doesn't matter (I always think of Beerfest, if you've seen it you know what I mean). But they do impact the characters and story at least with Gamora. So there are stakes because the story and characters would be very different if she didn't die. Vol 3 Gamora is essentially a new character tbh.
@@intense79nick bringing back dead characters just isn't persuasive. No one in my life never came back. It's like studios are robbing people (especially kids) of that lesson and also robbing them of an immersive experience just so that they can keep the money rolling. It serves absolutely no point to kill them off in the first place.
To help Matt feel better about Miles's Mom in Universe 42, her eyes are a different color. There's little details as well like the Prowler Miles having more of an accent like his mother due to her raising him alone because Jeff had died in that universe.
Two fun facts : 1. Donald Glover is actually an inspiration for the creation of Miles Molares 2. The Lego scene in the movie is made by a 14 year old who got the work on this movie after doing a Lego trailer for Into the Spider-Verse

Matt at 32:23 I think when Peter's portal opened it rattled the loose objects in the house and knocked the picture over. When she walked passed she put it back up. We see that light objects float in the room whenever portals open.
Love it. The movie, the reactions, the comments and points on the the movie afterwards. And oh my god Jeremy coming in at the end with his thoughts YES!! I totally love this movie and the struggle with who is gonna die or maybe not...love it. It’s just a well packed, funny, emotional journy that puts you in a nice spot of wanting more when that To Be Continued comes on😁🙌🙌
16:21 hey, you're on point, Matt. Particularly in those scenes, Gwen is really walking that line between flirty young woman and awkward teenage kid and it's really elegant and effective and reminds me a lot of how I saw girls at that age. It's very sweet.

I'm actually always happy to see Matt in these videos BECAUSE of the fact he has such a different outlook on things compared to a lot of people when watching movies. Having watched AtSV 3 times in cinemas, there are so many great details in this movie and you guys actually caught alot. Funnily enough, the Rio Morales from Dimension 42 at the end actually does look different. She has cyan eyes while Rio from Dimension 1610 (Miles' home dimension) has brown eyes. Also there's little stuff like the jacket and hoodie Miles hid his suit with in the other dimension being green and purple (Prowler's colours) instead of red and black (Miles' colours) in his own dimension. There are btw multiple versions of the movie. There 2 known different versions that appeared in cinemas and possibly the home-movie version may be different from the two as well.
One thing I wish they would’ve kept in the dvd and stream release was when Gwen has the anxiety “no no no” moment on the bridge in Mumbattan. For some reason they took it out of the slightly tweaked theater release which was my second viewing of the movie at the time
When he went into the go home machine, they said he was going to earth 42 - and they had already established that is where his spider was from, not Miles himself. I noticed this on the first watch so unfortunately the twist wasn't a surprise at all.
Its always great to see Matt back, his perspective as a more casual consumer of this sort of content is always a great barometer for how the general audience sees things. With how lackluster comicbook movies have been lately - Its clear given his reaction that there isnt fatigue for the genre just that audiences (casual or enfranchised) cant be placated by low quality content.
I'm easily unimpressed myself and I didn't think there was a dropoff in quality at marvel. I really can't tell the difference between films pre endgame and post. They all have very low, rushed quality to me on every facet of storytelling. I think what changed was that Marvel had probably one of the best concepts ever made in storytelling, a caper about capturing stones that harness the power of the universe. Its a theme that basically sells itself. A theme like this only comes around probably once or twice a decade or generation. I could only imagine what Chris Nolan would do with a theme like that. Imagine him with the Time Stone or the Soul Stone even, it would be on another level. Imagine Tarantino? They wouldn't even have a crazy budget. But after Endgame they had no stellar theme to sell, so their weak cinematic and storytelling techniques kind of shined through after.
Well, I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to finally watch both Spider-Verse movies for the first time. That's quite perfect timing! I can't watch it right now but will asap. Cheers from France! 🍻

What I loved about my friend watches series was I love matts thoughts about the movie....he always sees the movie differently and he focuses on the motivational aspect and always respect to him on his thoughts on those things..

Wow, I’m so glad Matt is back. When all the videos were coming out I was a freshmen/sophomore in highschool and now a couple months back I just graduated. I really hope to see more I grew up with these videos❤

The most subtle thing that you can't help but see once someone fills you in on it is the spray can motif on the lighting and shading.

Best case scenario is they don't resurrect dead characters. They ruin their own stakes once we know nobody really dies

But they do impact the characters and story at least with Gamora. So there are stakes because the story and characters would be very different if she didn't die. Vol 3 Gamora is essentially a new character tbh.
@@intense79nick bringing back dead characters just isn't persuasive. No one in my life never came back. It's like studios are robbing people (especially kids) of that lesson and also robbing them of an immersive experience just so that they can keep the money rolling. It serves absolutely no point to kill them off in the first place.
To help Matt feel better about Miles's Mom in Universe 42, her eyes are a different color.
There's little details as well like the Prowler Miles having more of an accent like his mother due to her raising him alone because Jeff had died in that universe.

Matt at 32:23 I think when Peter's portal opened it rattled the loose objects in the house and knocked the picture over. When she walked passed she put it back up. We see that light objects float in the room whenever portals open.

Having watched AtSV 3 times in cinemas, there are so many great details in this movie and you guys actually caught alot.
Funnily enough, the Rio Morales from Dimension 42 at the end actually does look different. She has cyan eyes while Rio from Dimension 1610 (Miles' home dimension) has brown eyes.
Also there's little stuff like the jacket and hoodie Miles hid his suit with in the other dimension being green and purple (Prowler's colours) instead of red and black (Miles' colours) in his own dimension.
There are btw multiple versions of the movie. There 2 known different versions that appeared in cinemas and possibly the home-movie version may be different from the two as well.
One thing I wish they would’ve kept in the dvd and stream release was when Gwen has the anxiety “no no no” moment on the bridge in Mumbattan. For some reason they took it out of the slightly tweaked theater release which was my second viewing of the movie at the time
When he went into the go home machine, they said he was going to earth 42 - and they had already established that is where his spider was from, not Miles himself. I noticed this on the first watch so unfortunately the twist wasn't a surprise at all.

Its always great to see Matt back, his perspective as a more casual consumer of this sort of content is always a great barometer for how the general audience sees things. With how lackluster comicbook movies have been lately - Its clear given his reaction that there isnt fatigue for the genre just that audiences (casual or enfranchised) cant be placated by low quality content.
I'm easily unimpressed myself and I didn't think there was a dropoff in quality at marvel. I really can't tell the difference between films pre endgame and post. They all have very low, rushed quality to me on every facet of storytelling. I think what changed was that Marvel had probably one of the best concepts ever made in storytelling, a caper about capturing stones that harness the power of the universe. Its a theme that basically sells itself. A theme like this only comes around probably once or twice a decade or generation. I could only imagine what Chris Nolan would do with a theme like that. Imagine him with the Time Stone or the Soul Stone even, it would be on another level. Imagine Tarantino? They wouldn't even have a crazy budget. But after Endgame they had no stellar theme to sell, so their weak cinematic and storytelling techniques kind of shined through after.
