- WELL THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG!! MY BRAND NEW EXPLORE RIG. As you can tell I am over the moon with my Brand New .... After 12 months of playing around with different ideas I just kept coming back to the new .... One of the main reasons was I really wanted a little bit more space than the 76 had to offer and I wanted the ability to carry more weight for the big touring trips, which is why it's on its way to Jmacx. Now this truck is going to get the absolute works and I'm going to document the whole process along the way. Let me know your thoughts if this is the type of content you would like to see more off. Congratulations mate. Don’t worry about all the warriors who thought they should of chose your new build for you. The 79 is a weapon, you get to customise the vehicle to how it suits you for what you need. They are a weapon off road as you know from your 76. We are hell keen to see your new rig build. Cheers 🤙🏼

Should of bought a Y62 patrol and turned it into a troopy camper set-up 😂 Nah these things are the best platform for content creation and modifications are endless. Those Toyotas have a huge global following just on their own and they look impressive even doing simple 4wding!

I swear TH-cam is listening to me, we were at Nunawading Toyota looking at a Kluger to see if it was an option lol. Ended up with a Prado from SA that came up at a good price. That Toyota dealer tho, plenty of good people there.

True, however the 76 wins on wheelbase which is shorter and better suited for off roading. said it before...pros and cons ;)

I couldn't justify spending big$ like that on a 4b in my opinion a 80 series cruiser is a good all round tourer yes there shape is 30 years old now but for a old bus they are not bad for comfort soon I wouldn't mind moving it on for a ford ranger/bt50 1 of the two anyway something modern would be nice tho 👍
80’s would probably be an option if you could buy them new and unabused
the HJ61RG is 300% more comfortable than a 70 anything -
No wind tunnels were harmed in the design of the 70series.

Never seen a 79 build before. I really don’t get a 79 build compared with rear conversion to a chopped 200. Only thing I have is the driver must love manual. Than again I canned both for Ram 1500 and people don’t get that. Work hard to get the channel where it is , so good luck with. Really thought is was going to be a LVD.
Jase haha I’m building what I personally want and what suits my touring needs. The 200s are just not as capable Offroad in my opinion. I couldn’t bring my self to scratch one 😂 At the end of the day everyone has different tastes and this is my dream rig 🤙

I bought a 4x4, drove it out of the yard & off-road... with 600Nm of torque & 182 kw. Oh, it also had a leather interior, an amazing Dolby sound system, & was comfortable.

Coming from a 76 i can tell you firmly i will not be buying a 79 the 70 series platform is just not comfortable enough to tour in long term. onwords and upwards to a 200 series for myself.

Yer mine was just 100% use friendly live out of which we did for for 2 months in the Kimberly region last year we did munjar track honeymoon bay all over then down the tanimi threw the Simpson and yer set up of car was great but buy the end of the trip i just couldn't stand driving it they are really just so primitive, anyway keep up the great work and content hopefully ill see ya out on the rd one day. We nearly crossed paths last year we caught up with mj a few times on tht trip.
💯 mate they are just a work ute. I got a decked out 200 and it’s absolute luxury to tour in. I can’t stand even sitting in a 79

Don’t put a full size canopy on! had one on for 6 months, hated the drive ability. sold that, lost a heap of money since buying it new and changed to a fridge width canopy with the tray. Should’ve done it the first time around!

Michael Foster I have been a Jmacx fan from when they first come out from all accounts a much nicer driving setup. It probably won’t flex as much but I’m after the drive ability and quality that Jmacx has 🤙

So what made u get the 79 ?
Wanted to carry more weight and be able to do a legal 4” 35s setup mate. Also love the platform and very use to it in the 76. 200 had a few to many electronics in it for my liking.
Will we see some portal action or just the standard 4in lift on 35s? gotta be something a little different if your throwing all this hype on something that's be done for years and years before
Portals aren’t great for cars unless the wheel track is widened heaps for stability which is illegal in Australia as tyres stick out too far
