Adding the gascap was a wise decision and leaves less of a possibility for failure with the fuel system. Last thing you need is to have to end a track day due to a faulty pressure relief valve. Basically it brings down the possible cost of maintenance.

@@andrewosimowicz3960 had a 2016 ford focus st that was capless. The pressure release valve kept going out and was allowing the system to pull the tank into a vacuum. It was and still is an issue with the majority of the cars that are capless. Those valves are around 100-150 dollars a piece just for the part. That’s not including labor. I’ve both replaced it myself and had a mechanic do it.

@@andrewosimowicz3960 doesn’t matter if it’s on the track or on the road. If/when that valve goes out it’s gonna be hella pricey. Honda spared themselves the bs and went back to using a gas cap. It was done for further ease of use and to lessen the number of parts used which also contributes to weight loss which also boosts its power to weight ratio. Doesn’t up it by much but, it still ups it and allows for further reliability.

The FL5 is known for being a rougher ride with its rigid suspension and being lower + wider in all aspects including its tires. I agree the FK8 is more aggressive looking, I just think the FL5 is a return to form to actually looking like an evolution of the Civic (a bit of EK9 and a bit of FD2) instead of a Gundam like the FK2 and wonky FN2 evolution. The Acura Integra Type S would cater with the tacked on fender flares similar to the FK8. All in all, the FL5 is better and the purpose of a Type R is to be ready for circuit racing, not our American fascination with going in a straight line all the time.
