      @richard smith no, that's not true. The only reason there is no a deal is because the UK wants a 500 km hole in the border of a common market, just because millions of ignorant brittish voted to leave the EU without previously taking into consideration and protecting the good Friday agreement. It's a brittish problem. Look for other sources of information.

    Remember, if this deal is signed, we have 14 months to negotiate trade deals with the 60+ countries that the EU already has comprehensive deals with, including Japan, Canada, Korea and most of South America.
    And worldwide, trade deals typically take about 7 YEARS to negotiate...
    Oh, plus, we have to do a deal with the EU itself during that time - a deal that has to be ratified by every single EU nation, right down to the regional council of Wallonia.
    "Bonne chance avec ça" as Barnier might say...

    • @Apis4
      @Apis4 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WHY should it?
      How will you feel if the Lords fillerbuster it, or block it outright by whatever means, on the basis of your own numbers?
      UK constitutional convention holds that even if a referendum is treated as binding, and a mandate, it MUST attain a two thirds majority threshold.
      This did not. Last time I checked, 17.6 million was not a two thirds majority of your country.
      Just because you want it, doesn't mean you should get it, if it's not up to scratch in how it's decided.
      You guys need another one, or none, and don't leave.
      It's ludicrous this is being treated as a special case.

      The Torys previously said a border down the Irish Sea was a red line when the EU suggested it. But now because its suggested by BoJo you think he's pulled it off.
      Next stop is Northern Ireland will split from UK and so will Scotland because BoJo has now given special treatment to NI.

      Barnier's English is fine. He is speaking in French and using an interpreter to make sure he doesn't make a mistake. If anything goes wrong, it'll be the fault of the interpreter (and nobody will care much). If *he* made a mistake, it could have serious consequences.
      (And waiting for the translation into French also buys him a little more time before he has to answer.)

      Albert Pike
      Well, it's a fair bet given that the UK negotiates on behalf of 65 million consumers whereas the EU negotiates on behalf of 500 million.
      A deal with the EU is worth more to a country like the US or Japan than a deal with the UK, so they will offer better access to their markets to get it.
      Remember, if this deal is signed, we have 14 months to negotiate trade deals with the 60+ countries that the EU already deals with. And worldwide, trade deals typically take about 7 YEARS to negotiate...

      @npgrx3381 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem is not that it has to pass, it has to be implemented wich cannot be done in under 2 months. That's why it will get voted down by anyone in the commons that wants to leave with a deal. If they vote for the deal they are out with no deal 100%, if they reject it now, Johnson is forced to request a extension wich could be used to implement it. But people will just see who voted against the deal and I assume the Brexit party or Torys will have the majority. Pretty sad what's going on in the UK
