Like the other themes before it, it is a remastering of the old with a remake for the modern. Like the other modified themes before it, this one of course seems to stress a certain aspect of the theme remade that inspired it (the drums in this instance seem to be the most noticeable) but still holds onto the Original Classic theme as well as the modification of The Middle 8 done later in the Original series of course. (If you watch the Day of the Doctor the 50th Anniversary Special, that opening theme was how the show actually started no middle 8.) This classic Whovian gives thanks to a New Generation theme song and enjoys it greatly! Oh, and Jodie Whittaker rocks as well!
As a fan of the classic and original theme, this is an excellent throwback! My only slight little not pick would have been to tone down the drums just a wee bit.

The drums can be a bit excessive, but it is a signature of this modern remake of a classic that doesn't get too obnoxious and emphasizes the one-two-three-four beat of the drums or the two beats of the time Lords both hearts. I still am hoping it is a signature hint of the master, that written.
I didn't like it, specially that synthesized main part of the theme after the opening chords, but if you listen to some of the themes done from 1980 onwards, it is much much worse. That said, they really should have stopped after the invasion of the Snowman in regards to changing the theme before in my personal opinion they just went to far and and it got too "look how clever and new we are now, we jumped a shark, then landed on a tank while playing a Stratocaster. " The viewers of this reply may vary in their opinion from me and that's fine.

This new version is a real throw back to the Patrick Troughton,Jon Pertwee era of the classic theme. If it needs any further tweaking take the drumming out !

It kind of looks like somebody reinvented the Atari 2600 gaming console and made a shirt about it. Well done everyone who did that shirt. That written, I hope we have something else to her outfit because we just need a little more in her style but I'm not trying to complain too much after all we do have a new sex to go with the outfit.
My theory is this is only going to be used for episode 1. There may be a brand new theme for episode 2 and onwards just like how they used a remixed Derbyshire theme in the unaired pilot of series 1 episode 1 (for the press preview)
I absolutely ADORE the new theme music. So much better than peter capaldi's and i neary cried when i heard the middle 8 come back and this theme pays homage to the classic series with the classic theme mixed in the new version :) :)
Dark master i love the credits for jodies doctor coz it harks back to the 1st 2nd and 3rd doctors titles. Cant wait to c the opening titles amd what the TARDIS interior looks like
Remember that the middle eight was not part of the original opening of the first Doctor Who theme song but it was composed by the Originals composer and remixer before there were digital remix or even musical track layers, and later implemented first in end credits than later in the original series opening of course. Watch The Day of the Doctor to hear how the original theme was as brief as what is it was without the middle Eights. But that all written, I freaking love the middle 8 part as one of my favorite parts of the song. You just can't have a musical bridge without the middle 8 in my personal opinion for a doctor who song right now.
Music is OK. The graphics not so much. Prior to Capaldi the graphic effects was suggestive of travel in space-time. Now it just looks like opening show credits. I think the graphics are a further move in the wrong direction.

Take the original, which cannot be bettered, then try to better it by adding jungle drums that sound more like someone banging on an empty biscuit tin! Fucking dreadful. And anyone who says otherwise is wrong. But I guess it's no more or less than this new series deserves.
They've been doing that for years, and Capaldi's theme was very different, and very bad, it's time to get back with what works. The original was a masterpiece of music.

Unfortunatly the way American TV does end credits now days (something my own country has picked up in doing) the credits are thrown into the bottom corner of teh screen and you have giant adverts for coming or up next TV programmes stuck up instead with the averts drowning out the credit music... it really really annoys me since its so damn intrusive (hell my country even plays the shows credits now while the last 30 or so seconds of the programme they are for hasnt even finnished just to get that little extra advert time in between programmes, which usually is just them advertising them god damn selves... sickening really, and they wonder why free TV is dying.
Series 11 episode 2 will remedy that in the opening No comment on how the American BBC broadcast mutes the end Theme and credits or I will be spending several Pages worth of expletives😊
Well then go ahead and submit your Arrangement I'm sure the BBC will apply it post haste. If you can't say something nice or constructive, don't say it at all.
I enjoyed the first episode of the new series, however, the music throughout was just awful and this new arrangement of the classic theme is absolutely abysmal. The music nearly ruined the whole episode, they really need to get a better composer.
@@augustjoys I'm from the original era, that's the best music, but I do prefer the music from the Matt Smith era to this, maybe you need your ears checked, this was very poor, as was the rest of the music in the episode. It is all personal opinion, but I personally can't stand the new arrangement.
Beatles1971 this entire theme is resemblant of the original theme. murray gold was good but you haven't even given this guy two episodes yet! the music sequences that played when jodie made her sonic, picked her outfit, and remembered who she was were great
The music really captures the original series feel where the music was often eerie and alien sounding. The music was far less intrusive than I found Murray Gold's to be

They got the four beats from the theme, not the other way around. They've always been part of the theme.
His was ok I loved the version where he played the electric guitar over it though the main theme was too loud for my taste.
