I'm glad you took the time to do this follow up. They really are better than your previous video and others that use the Pandora Box package as the basis for their review would lead people to believe. I ended up buying the package for PC based on one review I managed to find that demonstrated exactly what you found here in this follow-up video. The input lag is significantly reduced when they are used on PC. I have actually been quite happy with these guns considering the asking price and the fact that they include some decent feeling pedals as part of the package. I understand that gun4IR is better. But I simply wasn't willing to spend that much money for a couple of gun controllers. Also my experience is a little different than yours as far as the distance required to stand from the screen. Like you, I found a sweet spot of almost exactly 6 ft (to where I'm standing not where the muzzle of the gun is located). However I'm playing on a 40" TV. So that might be something worth exploring a little further. Honestly for the size screen I'm using that distance feels about right to me. Also at least in my particular use case, I found that angling the IR emitters slightly downward increased accuracy. This is because my TV is mounted with the center of the screen at about the same height as my head when standing. So this made me think to try angling them downward slightly to more directly face the camera in the gun so to speak. If the screen is mounted lower relative to where the gun is being held I can see where it might help to angle them slightly upward instead although I haven't confirmed this. Just another thing I thought was worth mentioning for anyone trying to get the most out of these particular guns. Thanks for the review.
So glad I decided to go with your pc gun4ir build rather than the Retro Shooter. I got the PB 10th anniversary but just threw it in a cab for an easy mod and forgot about the included light gun games.
@RetroLizard thanks for making this video man!! I saw your response to my comment on the your retroshooter pandaro box demo But you were right! It was the fucking distance to the monitor!! I was also able to cut t down from 6 feet to about 3-4 feet. Once you calibrate it from 6, pull out the gun and move in a bit closer and then plug back in. It should hold the calibration.
Great vid, exactly what I needed to see. They are selling these now with 2 additional IR sensors, would be interesting to see if that improves the accuracy close up.
Love this review dude. Super honest and im used to PC gameplay. Was thinkinking out messing with that box just as a qucik thing on my 55 inch when friends come over but prob will be more of a headache than anything
I just got these guns and i am currently tryingt o get them setup on my pc as well. The usb port for the 1st player on the pandora box is acting up on me and not recgonizing that the gun is even plugged in. i am having no issue on my pc, thankfully, so right now i am in the process of getting more lightgun games on my pc.
To be able to play closer, I wonder if you can you test the retro shooter with a Wii bar or move the sensors that it came with closer together? Or do the IR LEDs need to be close to the corners of the screen? Can you also try to aim the supplied sensors down a little?
I saw in other reviews that they do need to be there . I have the same tech on my ps3 namco gun and thats where they recommend to place them in the instructions . even with my aim tracks you pretty much have to be 5 feet back with a 26 inch screen . Gun4ir and sindens you can get closer . But of course like you said someone should test and film it
Chances are yes since it was provided to me from a personal source because I didn’t purchase their PC adapter. If you order the pc adapter then retro shooter will provide you a direct download for their software.
And it is definitely hot garbage!!! On my mid-range PC it has so much input lag that a simple game like nes Duck Hunt has gameplay issues. Rounds 1-3 the ducks fly slow so no issue hitting them. But once you get to round 4 and up you can’t hit shit because of the input lag!

Were you able to get additional 2 bottom sensors and see if your opinion changed?
If your playing on a 65 or 75 inch screen you will be 6 feet back. The pc setup works good, the other guns you mentioned are pc options as well.
A screen those sizes you’ll be 10 feet back.
FYI turn on the leds for the gun4ir or put 2 more in the bottom corner. That fixes the 6 ft issue.
Incorrect. This was the two sensor system and the Gun4IR LED’s messed with the retro shooter guns.

Do the retro shooter Need the software to setup on you harddrive or it’s just plug n play once u plug up the retro shooter
The drives are preconfigured. Adjustments only need to be made and drivers installed.
No drive is made to be plug n play unless it’s a batocera drive.
