Oh yeah.! I have had a pair of these speakers for about 6 years. I got them (literally) off the back of a van. I used to work at a council recycling centre and they came in one day. Tiny dent to one of the tweeters and one of the badges missing, otherwise perfect. Knocked spots off of my Wharfedale E 20s . I love them, for sure.😍👌✌

even through your recording played on my phone speakers, the sound and the performance are pulling through amazingly, crossing my fingers that I can get a pair of these

Listening with a notebook, a Meridian DAC and the Sennheiser 600, the mids are wonderful. Congratulations! A friend of mine had them years ago with a Naim amp. I miss that sound.

This is the Mark II. Excellent speaker. Some of the best midrange I've ever heard; a super-clean window to the music. A bit loose in the bottom without the bungs, but their performance depends on the room and placement. I prefer these to the Mark I I currently own. Nice to see the love, here.

      Are MK2 good as MK1?Thanks!!!

    • @BadMonkeyFinger_Audio

@@beslemeto Both versions are very, very good, although slightly different. The Mk1 has a different 'crossover' to the tweeter than the Mk2 (I believe the Mk2 has a higher crossover point, and different capacitor value - or maybe it's just the capacitor value that is different... Can't recall at the moment).
Both of them are almost full-range speakers. The MK1 is a bit 'fuller' sounding in the lower midrange, which works better than the Mk2 in my room. The Mk2 has a more transparent window to the music, and is lighter in the lower midrange than the MK1 (so it doesn't sound as 'bloated'). They both go as low as each other in terms of low bass response. As mentioned, the Mk1 is more 'full' sounding than the MK2 The tweeter on the Mk2 seemed to be better than my Mk1, but I think I need new caps in my Mk1, which likely would fix up the treble (not that it's bad...it's just a little gritty at times, now - very minorly so, though. Which one works better for you would depend on the room, and your tastes. In my previous residence, the Mk2 reigned supreme. In my current residence, the nod goes to the Mk1.

@@BadMonkeyFinger_Audio Thanks for the reply.I am planning to buy the MK1 version with upgraded caps (Jantzen Blue) for the tweeter. £240 pound we agreed for them with the seller.Hopefully i won't be disappointed.I have Yamaha MX-1 which is known to be good amp,but i don't know how these speakers will respond to that amp.Once again thank you very much!

Epos es14 was the finest born from the BBC ls3/5a era..it has an impeccable midrange which rivals the best out there till today and its about 30+ years now.but beware of used units with distortion due to aging of its drivers..

Since I seem lucky with my used epic es14. They are in perfect condition. The mids are just great, they have that in common with the LS50.

Junichi Ikeda Well,I caught the Epos bug.I can't recall at mo which .(just looked.,..they're MS11s) was a little disappointed, I found them Bass shy.But then again I am a child of the 70s,brought up on Goodman's Magnums and Quad and Leak etc. However, it is surprising how beguiling the Epos are, very lovely and perfect for spring and summer afternoons. Just don't expect fireworks. That belongs to the 70s..
