Don't feel bad or give up. Have over 17 years in Military Intelligence with TS/SCI clearance and masters in cybersecurity. Can't even get an interview at McDonald's and have went through a dozen interviews with at least 3 rounds of interviews in each. It's not you or anyone else reading this that is the problem. Keep your skills up and improve yourselves in other areas. The economy and layoffs are real, so keep your heads up and believe in yourselves.

The reason why you can't get interviews at average jobs is because you have surpassed them. Your skills, education and experience has surpassed average minimum wage jobs. That's a good thing. Jessu has brought me a long ways too. I have education, experience and working right now on the CompTIA A+ and hopefully the Net+ and Security + in a workforce program called Cyber Warrior.

[Warning, my comment is long, but it may help someone in their job search.]
I've heard that saying all my life. And although I hate the job search process as much as the next person. I can say that for me, that wasn't the case at all. I've had 10 jobs since 2010, but still went through 5+ seasons of unemployment. In 2009 I graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, and not one job that I actually got came through a referral, personal or professional contact.
I started out working for temp agencies for a low hourly rate, working for less than $20/hr for 4 years. Some jobs were short contracts lasting 6 months to a year with no promise of hire. While others were temp to hire, after a few months of acceptable performance. Only 50%, or 5 out of 10 jobs, ended up being direct hire opportunities. Now what I can say worked for me, was applying to jobs through an employment website that was specific to my hometown.
Only 3 of the jobs I have ever had were in my hometown where my parents live, but there were jobs posted on this website that were up to 100 miles away. One of my previous jobs was even out of state. Also, I relocated for 3 of my previous jobs, at my own expense. But I currently have a 1hr commute to my full time job.
This might help someone so I'll also add that only 3 of the 10 jobs were from Indeed. Then of those three, only 1 ended up being a really good job, and that's one of the jobs I have now. My 2nd job was advertised on the same city website, but when applying I was redirected to a government site to complete my application. Furthermore, there were never any job offers that I received that came from jobs I applied to through linkedin. However, I did get a few interviews over the years as a result of applications submitted through linkedin.

I want to an employment agency for a job.
One month later and three jobs, I have been hired at an acceptable wage with decent benis.
The problem I am seeing is two face.
Labor (desk or shovel) is considered a burden to the profit margin that should be split three way but shareholders and management set the rules so 7/8 goes out in bone us money and dividend payments.
The Job seeker, setting the sights too high and unwilling to think outside the diploma they want me to pay for.
What you are calling "networking" doesn't really happen until you get a job. Then the suckups will "network" their way up the ladder while those MORE QUALIFIED are still getting it in the backside.
Now you know why they call it the rat race. Rats racing to the top on their knees.

This really hits home. I spent 6 years at a university earning a bachelor’s in civil engineering, an associate’s in drafting technology and an associate’s in pre engineering. I graduated in 2019 and still haven’t been able to get into my field. I’ve been told everything from I’m not qualified to I’m over qualified. I currently have to work 2 dead end jobs just to stay afloat. It’s extremely frustrating, especially talking to people at my warehouse job and they ask me “what are you doing here”? Meanwhile my wife; who didn’t do any schooling, is about to be an account manager for a major marijuana brand. It’s crazy how much they push going to college just for you to graduate and have nothing to show for it but a piece of paper and debt.

I am in the same boat. I started schooling in 2015. Graduated in Sept 2019 with my BS in Biology. Full-time schooling with part-time work + overtime in order to pay school bills. Every hour not studying or sleeping was used to work with minimum time to socialize. Summer schooling too for 2 years. I lived off campus at home but there were semesters I wouldn't be able to go home. In those time I would wake up at 5 AM, school until 6 PM, then work until 1 AM and crash at a buddies place on campus so I wouldn't have to drive an hour home. I worked my ass off. Great amounts of sweat and tears to make sure I graduated on time and enter the work force with a running start. It's been 5 years and I haven't been able to get a position in my field. I'm currently unemployed going hard at the job search everyday for a sliver of a chance at a job that will still be underpaid, and making less than someone working in fast food (yay SoCal). I would say I am immensely depressed right now and every platitude from a family members or friend just feels like it pushes me closer and closer to the brink. I don't think I have any other words for you other than "I'm here too."

So i hear you when you ask “what happened to training?!??”
Its that managers in the past decade or so are not allowed to have training hours or admin-hours. I maybe give my new workers 1-2 hours per week of mentorship. In reality 50% of my work should be helping and not working but its more like 10%

All of the courses were Async and it had to take me flopping multiple times in order to understand how it worked.
As for the job market this is similar to what we're seeing with what happened in 08 and the same criticisms were told about being lazy or not wanting to work are the same complaints that were pinned against the Millennials when they were our age.
Employers can't stand the idea that the work force is changing and the setting they were comfortable with is now fading. Remote work showed that it didn't just improve employee wellbeing but also helped the climate.
On the other hand because they didn't have full control or their real estate began to suffer they forced so many back into the office knowing that its only going to cause more pain in the long run.

If you get an offer letter use it to your advantage to get a higher salary if you get another offer. Another thing if you’re currently in college, get experience and as much as you can. Get ready to get grind into dust though, there's always a reason these places are urgently hiring. Nothing matters. I think small to mid-sized companies with stringent hiring processes are losing money.
Most of tech is in a bubble except the big name corporations who either sell physical products or own a smaller company that does so.
The economy is held up by defense contracts, corporate tax, consumption tax, and sale of treasury securities to other countries.

Hate to be the negative one but....with automation and how late stage capitalism operates...there will be fewer and fewer jobs of all kinds. The current socioeconomic system we are in doesn't care if you have a job or etc. its to funnel all wealth to the top at all cost.
Menial labor will be the only jobs left after a while. Even if you have a degree consider the facg that most of the time its nepo babies that will take the postion. It will not be you someone who knows how hard it is working up from the lower/middle class. It will be a higher class person who has no idea of those struggles. This will mostly likley continue until the system becomes untenable and collapses.
    TLDR
Why would companies hire you when that reflects badly on their quarterly results , when they can fire more people , lobby congress or parliment (UK) to fudge the numbers and look like they are doing good.
This is exactly why the mini crash happened yesterday btw. (More complicated but still)

It’s more likely that you’re in a crowded field because much of what you can do is commonplace, and widely available. The truth is your IQ is the determining factor for where you’ll land in life, you should find out in high school and plan accordingly. If your intelligence is mid, enlist in the military and learn a trade if possible. The GI bill is great no college debt and you can build on what you already know.

there also the problem that those who do have jobs are being cut back to the point you barely make anything. and you most likely need to get a place with someone who can help cover the bills

As cliche as it sounds, you just have to keep trying. Keep learning as well and post what you learn and about your journey. Employers smell someone who is desperate and shy away. The chance of you getting hired when you apply is not 0. It's low, maybe .01% even, but not 0. When you are applying endlessly, it may feel hopeless and feel like that number is 0, but it's not. Eventually, things will change, and a company will find it worthwhile to hire you. Sometimes it just takes time. Interest rates should drop by EOY, which means more companies will be looking to hire. Use this time now to level up and learn as much as you can so when the tide turns, you will stand out.
    Good luck.

Please don't take all this rejection personally (several times you made a reference to being "not good enough"). This is a screwy economy with little rhyme or reason right now. Many highly qualified, experienced people are also in the same boat, so I doubt it's you or anything you're doing or not doing.

I heard that there a jobs in the US where you can make 100k without even an education. For instance in coal mining in the apalaches. Not a pleasant job, granted, but they're available. Or if you freelance in something as cleaning driveways. I think 100 pct you can make 10k a month with a very small investment of 1000 Dollars for equipment. Thats what I d do if I was american and couldnt find a job. I'm German and work in cyber security btw.
