I own a Russian SKS45 53Tulane and just bought a 1967 M59 Yugo. Now this is older than the one in the video but all matching numbers wood is really great and to remove the cosmoline I bought a 30" plastic mixing tub. Filled it with mineral spirits and used smaller pan for small parts. I used a cheap paint brush when cleaning the receiver outside of barrel and some others. Used blue shop towels to dry but I did use a hair drier on the stock just keep it moving. Then I used Ballistol after wiping down all parts for my oil Ballistol I think is very good it will absorb into metal so after first time you only need to use small amount to clean and lube. On 5/14/16 I test fired at the range and this rifle was dead on it performed flawlessly. So I hope this helps . Take care.

Coming with that book charting its history is one of the coolest firearms related things I've seen.
I thought it was Yugoslav when I saw the grenade launching sight/gas cutoff. Did any other countries use that design? The way the grenade sight works is not to use the rear sight at all and never fire it from the shoulder instead jamming the butt hard against the ground or by crouching down and bracing it with the side of your foot if on a hard surface. To aim it you lign up the range marking you want on the grenade sight with the tip of the grenade as it sits on the muzzle. You can then angle it for different ranges, steeper or shallower and you can see the tip of the grenade move in relation to the ladder sight. You probably figured this all out by now though after two years.
That is such a great piece you have there.

You can get dummy grenades to have some fun with it. Got a Yugo and that’s on my bucket list

Those are night sights. Is the tritium still glowing?

+D Vires Actually I just checked them out. They are still working - but not that great. If I shine a bright flashlight on them for a few seconds they will still glow for about 10-20 seconds. Pretty amazing after a few decades or so.

@@notagunguy7573 That's not how tritium works. Tritium just glows continuously for 10 years or so and then fades out.
