Shout out to Bruno. The animation sequence and narration were particularly brilliant and helpful with understanding the mechanism. Congrats on getting such great access to this rare and interesting rifle collection!
Somehow I’d completely missed the last upload on the first Mondragon, and only finished watching it last night before this was uploaded, so great timing!
35:20 You're supposed to say: "When war was declared!" Guys, thanks again for your wonderful content over 2024, even the weird & rare stuff that I thought you could never get for the show. To everyone involved, have a Merry Christmas & I look forward to more content in 2025.
the exhumation and disappearance of Mondragon's body adds a weird flavor to this story I can't quite describe but enjoy. Thanks for your hard work and Merry Christmas!
I got the three shirts i ordered!! I love them all and a new episode with the Mondragon! Merry christmas to you all at C&Rsenal and to all who see this comment
The Model 1893 is of great interest to me. I've long imagined it would be useful to modify a straight pull rifle to fire every time the bolt closed, without pulling the trigger. This rapid fire would only be used when the occasion called for it, in an assault or in a heated defense. Finally, I find an inventor who did this.
First a statement then the actual comment: I watched this episode wearing the same T-shirt as Othias wear for an undershirt!! Now the comment; Dear Santa this year I would like A collection of Montdragon rifles a Lugerman .45 and any Mars pistol plus anything else you just happened to have laying around and again Thank You!!! 🎅👍
I'm sure I;m not the first to mention this, but the rifle and its inventor are pronounced with the accent on the last vowel,, hence MondraGON. In Spanish, if there is no accent mark, the emphasis is on the penultimate syllable, as you pronounce it. While I am not a native Spanish speaker, I was certified to get bi-lingual pay as a police officer. I am a fan of your program, having watched all of the WW I episodes and all subsequent ones, as well. I am a court-recognized "expert" witness on firearms and their use in Federal Court. I rely on your content as a source in areas you have covered. As soon as I can organize it, I will become a member of your Patreon family. Keep up your good and important work. Best of the season to you and your crew, including the Guinea pigs.
Wild speculation - maybe the Belgium ammo wasn't causing issues because it was light but because the brass wasn't quite the right dimensions/profile and so was sticking in the chamber. Having to yank extra hard to get it moving might rob enough velocity from the mechanisms to prevent full cycling (and would accelerate extractor failures)
That nail "pin" cracks me up. It would seem like if you can afford to own a valuable collector's piece like that, you would have a skilled machinist or gunsmith make a proper pin for it.
It's funny. I really was waiting for this episode, but I would genuinely love to see the previous gun and that odd cartridge being fired. It's so unique yet rings familiar. Welp, guess I gotta join the patreon lol
Thankfully, researcher and author of the current Mondragon book out, Luis, put us in contact with collector Victor, who was willing to let us handle and shoot multiple examples. Bruno was able to tag along for extensive measurement takings for the animation. A massive collaborative effort to make two stupendous episodes.
I wish I could remember where I read it, but somewhere I read that John Garand implemented the Mondragon's gas system and bolt on the M1 garand. You do see a lot of similarities.
A pretty much 'modern' semi-automatic rifle in 1908 ? Why didn't the other nations pick up on that design ? Instead stuck with bolt-action rifles till WWII.
Please if you may search information about other intresting mexican rifle named "fusil México" created by Rafael Mendoza Blanco, the rifle have a rare pieces and is takedown
On an hours long bus ride, having this show up was the perfect thing to show up on Christmas Eve. Thanks again yall!
Shout out to Bruno. The animation sequence and narration were particularly brilliant and helpful with understanding the mechanism. Congrats on getting such great access to this rare and interesting rifle collection!
DAMN! One of the rarest rifle ever and you had a chance to blast with it?! XMAS everyone!
Merry Christmas!🎄🎅
Excellent Episode
Amazing engineering around 1900.
TH-cam forced an advertisement every 5 minutes. C&Rsenal better get full amount from this one.
Yeah that was insane, hopefully fixed now

the exhumation and disappearance of Mondragon's body adds a weird flavor to this story I can't quite describe but enjoy. Thanks for your hard work and Merry Christmas!

🎶 La cucaracha! La cucaracha! Ya no puede disparar! 🎶
I tipped $20 and bought 2 shirts. My bit in support, Merry Christmas!
Sweet holy mother of drum mags. I kinda would have liked to see how that preformed in project lightening as a walking rifle 👀

One of my favorite rifles AND you're shooting one!?!? YES

Never knew there was a Mondragon in 7.5x55 thats insanely cool. 7.5 swiss is my favorite cartridge
Sorry babe, the birth of our firstborn son will have to wait.
You should name him Mondragon. You'll never find him a novelty keychain but it'll be cooler than Aiden/Jayden/Jaiden/et cetera
Mondragon is a good name for a boy
Had a buddy with the last name Mondragon. He was a Chad.
T-shirts just turned up in blighty today, just in time for Christmas. Cheers folks and enjoy your holidays :)

I think this might be the second video on TH-cam to actually feature an actual video of the Mondragon firing.
Merry Christmas indeed
That nail "pin" cracks me up. It would seem like if you can afford to own a valuable collector's piece like that, you would have a skilled machinist or gunsmith make a proper pin for it.
Great Video!
For a weapon designed pre WW1, its amazing it worked as well as it did. I am surprised that no one picked up the design and improved it after WW1.
It's a Christmas&Rsenal Episode!
We just got the shirts and stickers in. Very awesome, nerdy, punny merch.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas ⛄
OH MY GOTT Where in earth did you find one!? Dream rifle of mine! Also, do I want to know how much it cost 😅?
Last auction I heard of was predicting $20-40k
aw there's a little heart on that trigger 54:35
That little heart is still a mystery mark
WW1 Germany: Yes this thing is worth making with our limited resources
It's funny.
I really was waiting for this episode, but I would genuinely love to see the previous gun and that odd cartridge being fired. It's so unique yet rings familiar.
Welp, guess I gotta join the patreon lol
This is so freaking awesome
This episode: 7x57mm Mauser casings going to space!

Thankfully, researcher and author of the current Mondragon book out, Luis, put us in contact with collector Victor, who was willing to let us handle and shoot multiple examples. Incredible! You got your hands on the drum mag dragon AND got to shoot it?! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! 🎄🎉 Thank you for the great content as always!

Thank you all for this lovely Christmas present. 😍
Love it, Great video and would love if Santa could bring me one.
Could you have used the stripper clip guide to top off the drum to get to the 30?
A pretty much 'modern' semi-automatic rifle in 1908 ?
Why didn't the other nations pick up on that design ? Instead stuck with bolt-action rifles till WWII.
I do believe the Trommel magazine is an early MagPul. ;-)
Awesome. Mist be due for a 303 vid
Mexican politics are absolute chaos but they're also very entertaining.
How many looked to see the serial numbers match?
How rare is that Trommel?
Wait.....was that a drum mag? Damn
The Mondragon cartridge seems very similar to the modern .204 Ruger cartridge.
A rifle before most of the world was ready for it.
Is this Chanel on pepperbox?
Dang!!! 0~o and here I thought the Air-Service 1903 Springfield with its magazine of doom was out there for a bolt action. >~
Please if you may search information about other intresting mexican rifle named "fusil México" created by Rafael Mendoza Blanco, the rifle have a rare pieces and is takedown
Snail loves that cartridge! LOL ..decal hint
🔥 fire vids
a DOUBLE MONDRAGON MONTH?!?!?! HOLY S#$%!
i thought the danish semi-auto predecessor to the madsen was the first semi-auto to be adopted and produced
Good God y’all are thrashing the bushes for something to sale now
