Nice vid again - like the running commentary. Yes this definitely beats the exhausting, head banging, death metal music that a lot of the Amuurican uploads force on us calm tea drinking, Brits.
Bristlenose are a really good fish to have a go at breeding since the all the factors which contribute to success you outlined in the video are relevant for any of the plec species. Good to hear that the new stuff arrived and that the filter in the bristlenose tank seems to have achieved a full cycle - nice one, man.
MARK'S AQUATICS sounds good to me and it's another poke in the eye for some of the clowns online saying there is no such thing as a full cycle, biohome is fake etc. etc. Why anyone wouldn't want a full cycle is beyond me, lol
I finally have a 2nd spawn after 2 years! First batch i missed and have 7 swimmers, today on new years 1st Jan 2022 I see eggs! So going to try and pull them... just realise how I miss watching your channel. Happy new year everyone
Love Repashy food I use Solvent Green and Morning Wood, I combine the two when making it! Plecos love it, and it is much better for them as I found the the commercial tablets cause bloat.
We use Soilent Green and the new Super Gold for our fancy goldfish. In each of our GF tanks, we also have a rubber lip Pleco and a couple of Nerite snails. They ALL love the REPASHY product.
Thank you sir, for your efforts in teaching us to raise our fish successfully. I'm up to 8 fry species in my fish room this morning, many were made possible with your great information.
Great video Mark. This will certainly help me to get my Bristle nose plecos to breed. On the other hand. I do have them in a heavily planted aquarium and do not see them often. For all I know they did breed and the other community fish got to the little ones.😳 But I will move a male and female to a separate tank and try again. Once again, good informative video.
Aquarium co-op interviewed an expert pleco breeder a while back, and his top tip for survival was to start feeding the fry after a few days, and not let the yolk sack deplete fully. Which actually makes a lot of sense because in nature, the fry would scavenge whatever and whenever they could.
Hay mate awsome videos bro. I Use the plant pots cut in half for them and thay love it!!. Baby's every 2 weeks. In my grow out tank all I use is a sponge fillter In a 80L tank with around 200 plecos in it. From fry to adults. ' water changes every 2 days" Thay eat zucchini and a catfish pallet and good flake food. The pallets are very good for conditioning for females. I'm in new zealand by the way..
Wow... you've done well to get them breeding so quickly Mark! I'd just like to say that they love bogwood to graze on when they get a little bigger, in fact the ones I had found a hollow underneath a large chunk of bogwood and that's where they laid their eggs. The male looked after them - in fact I never saw him come out to feed for days and I was acually wondering what he was doing under there (all I could see was his tail). Then one day all these little albino ancistrus were all over the tank, stuck to the glass, the plants, the wood and rocks. On the second breeding I was watching more carefully and a couple of times I saw one or two escaping a bit too early (they still had yolk sacs attached) but the male caught them and put them back under the wood. They were easy to raise as they eat almost anything you put in there! I still have that chunk of bogwood so I'm looking to see which tank to put it in now! lol ... Barry
They're great parents It's lovely watching them in the cave. I had one get knocked out the cave and like you said he found the little guy and put him back.👍😀
Thank you so very much for sharing this great video with us Mark, I really like all the plecos I have one big monster in my 4ft tank but I think I have all the same sex. And I've got them in with all my live bearing fish and they don't touch any of the little new born fish. I will have to try and get you a photo of Barney he's just a common pleco but he's cool he comes up to the top of the tank and splash you as he swims away 😂😂😂 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️❤️
So cute, my little clown pleco he/she has to be my favourite fish in my tank. Fingers crossed that your zebras will breed too. Oh and I use polymer clay to make aquarium ornaments but i always coat it in epoxy resin to ensure that is completely safe for them.
This and the previous vids are great Mark Mine must be over sexed Mark, I have a pair of reds, in a 300 liter tank, they had fry 5-6 months ago, now they seem to breed every couple of weeks as I have loads of all different sizes, from a couple of inches to a couple of cm. I have no caves but rocks and huge amounts of wood as it is one of my discus tanks.
Hi Mark I can't afford Biohome Media as I'm disabled and can't work so I use Alfagrog in my filter, about 3-4lbs in my canister filter do you think this is OK to use.
@@MARKSAQUATICS Thanks for the reply mark that was unexpectedly quick 😀. Im looking at seting up a dwarf shrimp tank as i have just moved house. Haven't done it before and im really interested in them. I have had amano's before. I like the idea of a heavily planted tank with a hang on back filter on a 72 liter tank. Any thoughts or tips you would recommend? Also love the videos making my way through them. Its also nice to find a good uk aquarium channel. Thanks again and keep those vids coming. 😀
I have a massive female ancistrus atm( around 25 cm's, haven't been able to catch her recently to give her a thorough checkup), can't wait to have a second tank and a male so i can try to get her to breed. Not gonna do that little project in her current tank since she shares it with ciclids xD. Anyways nice vid and i'll look into getting walter worms aswell.
You can get some cheap pleco caves by getting terra cotta watering stakes from a garden center. They come in different sizes, both in width and length, so you can try to match what your pleco would need.
Wriggles!! I wonder if I can get mine to breed... I may have to buy one of the opposite sex first though... are there any dwarf sized plecos. Smaller then bristlenose ??
I've just had around a 30 pleco spawn but Im moving them into my smaller grow out tank. Do you think it would be safe to just find some wood from a look forest and boil it?
i hear you can feed them green beans and cucumbers i dont want that kind tho i hear the common ones get huge i want the female bristle nose pleco or long finned albino lemon pleco

My long finned albino bristle nose plecos are breeding today, first time, and I'm soo excited!!! Great vid Mark and thanx for sharing.
Congratulations😀👍 thanks for watching .
11:40 and forward I caught myself looking for the shrimp and didnt follow a single word you said lol. thanks for the video!
I would love plecs but only have 60ltr tanks and I know they grow pretty big. I still love watching your fishkeeping videos, nice one mate.
Bristlenose plecos only get to 5" 60 lts is fine.👍😀

After trying everything, I realise both spawns was after I gave them a mushroom to feed on
"This is how plecos roll" - gave me a chuckle.
Nice work Mark.... Grab some REPASHY gel food for your Pleco's. It's unbelievable and is not full of fillers. Good stuff indeed.

hello, ace video! Would neon tetra's be okay in the breeding tank and not pick of young hatched pleco babies?
They'll be fine 😊👍
Nice Bristlenose! Well done Mark 👍🐠
Cheers for this video, I recently just got my first pleco and it is great to get some more information, keep up the good work👍😃

Nice bit of info there Ben cheers.
Hi bit of help I have pair of flash plecos and pair of super reds could they be kept in the same tank cheers
always look forward to see your next video .if you know much about kh/gh can you do a video on it especially for tetra and low ph fish

Hi Jade. great tip on the polymer clay. 👍😀
Congrats. And I would say that those three on the outside where eggs. Hope the Zebras are next. Great work Mark.
Nice job! I love my little albino bristlenose. Btw, how are things going with Frank's new lady and the blue cray fish?
Frank and his lady friend are doing great! No fighting there all loved up.
The blue crayfish is also doing very well munching on muscles .👍😀
Hi Mark, congrats on your babies! Quick question do you put a intake filtet sponge on the intake of your filter so the babies don't get sucked up?
Thank you.Yes I've got a very fine micron stainless steel mesh filter guard over the intake pipe. 👍😀
Given me somemore ideas to breed, thank mark

Your doing something right Jon. 👍😀
is it ok to pair wherein the male is bigger than the female?
Hi Mark have you try breeding green dragon short fin plecos
Hey love your videos man quick question do you sell any of your shrimp?
Thanks Daniel.
I might sell some off later in the year, but at the moment I'm trying to build up the colony .👍😀
If you do please tell me your shrimp are great I can only get cherry shrimp where I am would some like yours haha and keep up the good work bud 😁

@@MARKSAQUATICS great Mark sorry for all the questions lately thanks for responding
Mine had babies the other day. Bonus was, I was completely unaware until I saw the fry sitting on the glass.
Great video Mark 👍
Hi mark if you had to choose one size of aquarium to breed freshwater fish what would it be?
Thanks
I use 24 litre tanks to breed most of my fish. 😀👍

@@deathbringer555666 that would be a great size. As for the hang on back filter make sure you put a fine sponge pre filter on ok.😀👍🦐

Hello just a tip, infrared cant pass through glass so when you're reading the temprature you're reading the outside of the tank. //ir-technician
Thanks for the heads up. I never knew about that. Thank for watching Tobias.
Can they breed an albino bristlenose with a normal bristlenose?
Yes. Mine cross breed all the time and I get a mix of regular and albino
yes

Grab a red rag or cloth to put over your flashlight. They don't see the red, so you can look in on them without disturbing them much.
