      +Collin Huggins Actually.... I've heard it's not as peaceful as it sounds. Although, if you die screaming, you might not feel it, because your body would be in so much shock.

      Do you mean they wont care that you have died? Because I'm sure the people you care about will be told immediately if you were on verge of death or if you have died, and it doesn't matter where or how you die. Just be you and really show that you care about the people around you and live a happy life! That's what truly matters in the end!

      Jarrett Wattenburger Well then I'm not sure what you mean. Unless your in some type of situation where you'll be apart from loved ones or maybe you're alone constantly then it might take some time for someone to find out but they'll know as soon as you discovered dead. And well if you are in a situation like that just keep in touch every once in a while. Call or visit every so often and show that you love them. And it doesn't really matter if they know you're gone, just be the best person you can be to them and to you.

    The one thing that scares me most about death, is not existing anymore..... not feeling, not breathing...... I sometimes think about what it was like before I was born.... Like I didn't exist, but how does not existing feel.... It scares me so much......

      I think the same way as you. My bf says it is amazing to just be relieved and not have to go to heaven or smthg (we are atheists). Eternal life would be bad because we would just keep living in some way with some type of consciousness. But I am scared because I don't know what will happen. That is the thing- it's nothing! What is nothing though? Like you said "not existing feels like what?"!?
      We just cease to be, but that means we won't have our comforts like our home, people around us who love us, and even those material things we hold sentimental value to, etc. Again though, all that doesn't matter because supposedly life is larger than us- humans- because we are a small part in the universe.

      ***** I appreciate your words and thoughts, and I understand how you are thinking. Yet, you are not understanding what I said before (trying to put it nicely as possible here lol).
      I know I hold on to material things. That was my point. We are so used to our creature comforts and just everything in our lives. When we die they are ALL not there; this is not just material things but family, friends, and logic/thinking, etc.
      That is what scares me. Like I said it all ceases to be.
      You were saying why would I deny myself the chance to be the real me or own my true self? You are thinking too spiritually and religiously. My whole point in this discussion is to rely that science doesn't allow for that kind of stuff so it doesn't exist. I don't want to step on toes or anything by discussing religion, but like I said I am an atheist and if you look at real factual evidence, you don't just become something higher when you die. You just die. And that is what I am afraid of- just ceasing to be.

      Kat Lover I'll probably regret that I didn't try to achieve my dreams. However I won't regret me knowing my limits. My dream is to be a video game designer but I don't have the memory to remember all the programing and editing work involved. I know that my dream is beyond what I'm capable of so I'm not going to bother trying to pursue it.

    I really enjoyed this video! I was diagnosed with leukemia 7 months ago and had to confront the possibility that I could die. I'm almost done with chemo now and things are looking good but it has been really scary to have to confront death. I can definitely speak for the importance of family and friends, my boyfriend and my family were pretty much all I thought about for a while. Now, my approach to life is completely changed; there is so much to do and enjoy! I wouldn't say that I now have this insatiable drive to do everything but it has made me appreciate the things that I have and the opportunities that I have now. I feel like I'm getting the same life but that it's better because I'm living in the present instead of always worrying about what's going to happen in the future. Find your passions and the things that make you happy and pursue them :)

      guys stop talking about these things like they're easy as 1,2,3..
      The only solution to eternal life is the prevention of "aging" by cells.
      Humans and most animals are biologically designed to die. We are working though, on a way to prevent this ticking timebomb, by studying rejuvenating animals like lobsters, and if possible, GM'ing our DNA with their likes.... Umm idk just guys most of base pairs like C, T, A ,G and triplet code are kinda unknown, just idk omfg..

      would you ever know if it worked properly though. how would you know that what you are in the computer is what you were in life. how would scientist be able to tell if it's really you in there and that they didn't miss any important parts or even worse delete parts of you on purpose. trapped for eternity in the computer

      Me? I don't regret anything lol, obviously I didn't get everything spot on.. so clearly I have temporarily regreted things.. but we're talking about in the long term when you look back and things you really wish you could change because they still affect you in some way or it's a memeory you wish you didn't have and so on.. I don't have anything like that and nothing on the list is something I regret. which makes me glad.

      +Bart De Bock The life expectancy was much lower back then. Illnesses were often uncurable. And there are many other reasons why you don't want to live back then.
      On the other hand, there were much less responsibilities, laws etc.
      You could do a simple job for your whole life and weren't forced to learn all the stuff we get at school. And honestly, the more you know, the less you can let your thoughts flow. Maybe you could be happier in that time period. Though as a warrior you are very likely going to die quickly.

      +Samsul Hoque I'm still young, but i think it becomes easier if you just stop caring so much about certain things. Try to gauge if stuff you worry about will matter in the next five or ten years, and you'll see most of it is just trivial. After all, we're all going to die and it won't matter in the end

    I'm the youngest member of my family, and the thing that used to scare me the most about was having to let go of everyone I love before myself, eventually being all alone, and never being able to see those I care about ever again or let them know how my life is going while they're not there.

      Me, too! I one had a night mare that everyone in my family slowly and painfully died, and I woke up completely normal. I cried for a while, just rocking back and forth on y bed. Then I went and told my mum a detailed story of it and she and i hung out and talked
      Needless to say, I love m mum

    Hey, I got a question (a sciencey one)
    Why do we find other animals "cute"? Because, from an evolutionary perspective, it does not seem logical to me at all. You wouldn't want to kill a cute animal for food. You'd feed it, protect it, effectively endagering yourself and putting yourself at a disadvantage.

      Now, what is usually cute?
      Babies.
      Baby animals are cute because it gives adult animals another reason to want to care for and protect them. So it actually makes a lot of evolutionary sense.
      That being said, some animals look cute to us even when they're adults, and it often has to do with the animals head to body ratio.
      Babies have relatively large heads for their bodies. This makes many animals with relatively large heads for their bodies also look a bit cuter. Even if they aren't babies.

      +David Meyers why did you regret it? the experience and enjoyment you get while playing games shouldnt be regretted.
      it's like someone traveling the world and later regret that decision.
      you should accept your past and move on, you should accept that at that time you enjoy the game and now you don't think playing game beneficial.
      even if you regret it, would your old self accept a suggestion to not play game and do something else?
      don't deny the experiences that you got when playing game back then.

    I don't mean to be contrary, but as an aspiring physicist, I feel like work is the imprint you leave behind. I think I will say, "I wish I worked more on _______." We waste a lot of time in our youth on flakey relationships with random people. Now we have the world at our fingertips and can interact with like-minded people around the globe. I think most people would like to die knowing they've left a positive mark as their legacy. It's failing to sate that urge that leads to regret. So, live it up, while the livins e z. All the people in the dance will agree: dance to the rythym, it gets harder.

      You make a number of interesting points. At a more basic level, there are people in this world who think they are on this world to "make a difference", "make their mark" or "leave a legacy". At the other end of the spectrum there are those that want to "leave no trace" and "do no harm". Where each individual falls on the spectrum is usually determined by the value systems of their parents and the culture they were immersed in as a child. The book cited makes it clear that "most people" are not remotely interested in leaving a legacy.
      Since the opinions expressed were from individuals born from early to mid last century, we can't even blame the narcissistic younger generations for it. Old people, with a solid work ethic and strong belief in family as well as religion, finally were able to be true to themselves and reveal what really mattered - and ultimately it *wasn't* fulfilling the obligations and responsibilities of family, work, culture, citizenship, or religion. It was honesty, openness, experiences, and relationships.
      If hindsight is 20/20 maybe we can all learn from that?

After all, even Einstein or Hitler as well as their legacies will be forgotten eventually, it just takes longer, right?       i do not know… for me happiness becomes hard thing to feel when i am thinking about how many people suffers… how many people are victim of crime(murdering, rape, robbery), how many people is hungry and thirsty. when i think about how many bad and wrong things i have done(we all do many bad things), i am thinking: do i really deserve happiness? i know i regretted every single bad thing i have done and i am trying to do better but still, am i good enough to deserve happiness?

      In my other school, I was judged by so many people. I wasn't really liked by most kids. I had my friends, but the other 80% of my class wasn't particularly friendly to me. If I ever made a mistake of did something embarrassing, I never got away clean. But, I never let that stop me from being me. I always made sure I was happy no matter how it made me look. Basically, I was happy. And since I was happy, I didn't care what other people thought of me.

    To be honest, I want to die while driving, but I want it to happen instantly. Driving is of of the things I love the most and it is also the only thing that could kill me. I do not want to know when Im going to die. That scares me the most. Knowing when I will die. I am 19 now and I am pretty happy with my life. I have no reason at all to end my life myself. But if it has to end soon, then I am okay with it and want it to happen when I do something I love :)

And there are also accidents where only 1 person is involved. I also want to let people know that I prefer to die in my car, so if it happens they have peace with it more quickly.     Really liked this. I feel like there is a lot more to life than just getting old and dying. If you don't take time out to pursue your dreams to make yourself happy, are you really living? Everyone needs to take a leap of faith once in a while. You never know what you can accomplish until you try.

    This is something i realised when i was at the age of 20-21.
    I looked back at how i acted the past few years and what i regretted about that, and the main thing was not being able to be myself around people because i was afraid of their perception.
    I changed this and started living how i wanted to live and trying to be as happy as i can be.
    The definition of happiness differs from person to person, for me it's being able to play and talk to my friends (online games/teamspeak), going out for a drink or a smoke, trying to be financialy stable with doing as little as possible, living on my own and always being myself. I managed to fullfill three of these goals already and am now trying to find a way for the other one.
    Once I achieved this I don't know what other goals might pop up but i'll try to do them as i go along in life.
    For if one does not live for happiness, one is already dead inside.
    I hope all of you can fullfill your goals for happiness and have a good life, good luck!

    The first one really screams out to me.
    I had to live a life where people expect great things out from me, because I have a high IQ, great logical sense, great academic scores especially in the science field and all that kind of jazz. But y'know, despite all that, I'm not happy about my situation. I lived a life where I have to keep up to people's expectations. I'll be a great asset to the science field... except I don't really want to.
    On one hand I am actually capable of going for Pharmacy. I understand the lessons, the tasks, everything. But deep down I don't have the motivation to actually proceed with what I was doing. In the end, I constantly ran away from my problems, creating a facade of my true self, unable to face head on 'cause I just don't want to.
    I just dropped out of Pharmacy a couple of weeks ago, and my parents have given me permission to attempt for the major I know is much more truer to my heart. Right now, I don't have to pull up the cheerful facade I've been putting on for the past year anymore. This means I'll have to restart college tho, having to attend at the same time as my younger brother, as well as having to deal with the shame from everyone else. But hey, if this is what my heart tells me to do, then I'm okay.

      +IllusioneTempus I was not expected to complete pharmacy at school, but I was also expected to be "greater" than where I am right now. And for that, I can sympathize with you. I have the same trouble opening up to friends or family about how much it affects my mindset going forward in life, my experience being proud of what I do, etc. I don't judge anyone for what they pursue in life but we all judge ourselves quite harshly from time to time. The expectation is what gives us a guilt trip and makes us feel like we are more than what we are doing. I don't have a superiority complex, I have deep seeded shame and guilt because of what I hear and how I'm treated at home when I go to sleep at night and wake up the next day. It's hard when other people are pounding this idea into your head. But of course, like some of these comments have proven, we have to keep it to ourselves because not everyone can comprehend a "pity party for someone who says they are above who they actually are" It's also a common example of actions speak louder than words to anyone who doesn't know what you go through. I get it. I understand both sides.

    My issue is my family and i do not have a lot of money, and i went to school miserable every single day as my mum wanted me to, but it was one of the worst waves of depression in my life, and then IMMEDIATELY after with no break i was rushed into college, yet again, just to keep my mum happy as shoe chose it for me and council tax and all this stuff, and then now, i have experiencing a very very bad wave of depression again that has been lasting for a few months and seems to be getting worse, then i also have some personal issues that also seem to be getting worse, but the thing is, my mum is trying to rush me into a job due to the council tax and stuff, but my counsellor, teachers, friends, and myself have all said to her how, if i do not take a break once college is done, i am screwed, and with some of the personal issues, there are A LOT of jobs i physically cannot do, or would do after one day and feel so shitty and insecure and worthless, that i could never go back and it would bring me down like no other for months!
    And my mum is not being understanding of this at all and is still rushing me into things, well trying to anyway, but I'm just sick of it now, like, i will do something due to the council tax and not being homeless myself or making my family homeless, but then, all my life so far has been lived for my mum, and i have been fucking depressed while doing it, so now, i want to live life for me! The only two things i did for myself were see a counsellor, and stay at my work experience for almost 2 years longer than i meant to and that was a dog barn, both of these places made me feel a happiness i thought i lost!

    Happiness is not always a choice. There are a lot of internal and external factors that can make happiness an option that's sometimes simply not available. And seeing "just let yourself be happy" really makes me feel even worse, as I'm someone who suffers from depression and anxiety, and for the most part I simply can't.

    This is an excellent & thought-provoking video, BUT there may be a little issue here... this list is essentially people saying what they wish they did while knowing they don't actually have to follow up on it. It's similar to any of us right now saying, "I really wish I was in shape," but then still not doing any exercise. I'm not saying the list isn't helpful or good, but just that there are sometimes consequences & legit reasons why we do or don't do things and to keep this in mind when deciding what you really want.

    this is so amazing to hear, most of these we already know, but its hard to step back and try to accomplish them since life really does push you forward and time and situations are responsible for this things to happen, because they make you blind, its crucial to stop and realize that you're living and moving through time. thanks for reminding us.

    The only fear I have about death is I may not lead another life as happy(or sad) as this or I may not be able to lead any life at all after I die.....

      I can say I have that fear too man. But the way I look at it, focus on living this life and being happy now and living without these regrets. Don't be afraid of death because I mean it could result in a new beginning (another life after death) and even if it doesn't, you won't exactly be there to be disappointed. Live this life like its your last✌🏼️

      I'm scared that if reincarnation is real, I won't remember this life and the amazing people I had to share it with. And it makes me really scared and anxious to think about this. As I type this tears are rolling down my cheeks.

    I think I always lived like I was going to die soon. I am true to myself, I spend a LOT of time with my family and I have a lot of fun doing things that I love. But I also worked really hard. I think it's possible to do everything that you need and want. Except sleeping ahahhahah.

    I almost died several times during the ages of 18-23. I was on my deathbed time and time again for months at a time. I'm so grateful for having had this time to reflect at such a young age. everything addressed in this video is what I live out today. Now I have meaningful relationships, a great boyfriend, a fun life, and live fearlessly expressing myself every day.
