Fun fact: this route used to be flown from the Pacific route, but since Singapore Airlines avoids Russian airspace due to the conflict, it now flies from the Atlantic route
Yes you are correct! I flew the same route in 2019 but now that I see the flights on the same route, I notice that the flight plan has been altered to avoid Russian airspace!
Correct. I took this flight in Dec 2021 when it was still doing the Pacific Route, should be able to see the northern lights across the Arctic around the 3-5 hours mark on the Port side of the aircraft if you are lucky enough.
I still remember flying on this route for the very first time in the mid-2000s, when they operated the A340-500. It was my first time flying SQ's business class (at the time they called it 'Raffles Class') and my first time in business class in general. Boy, it was an experience I will never forget! And on the return flight, I practically begged my parents to buy a model of the A340 for me~ I finally got to try it again back in summer 2019 in premium economy. Still great as ever, probably better than any of the SQ flights I had. I definitely want to try it again, this time on their latest business class! It really brought back a lot of memories of this flight and my trip to Singapore~!
I just did this flight both ways and did not find the flight time a problem. No jet lag in Singapore but lots of jet lag back in NY. SIA crew are THE BEST. So sweet and kind.
Having watched both of your channels I can recommend both of your channels, great to see some travel with practical advice to get cheaper tickets making better class travel available to the masses! (Let's be honest no-one likes economy class flights)
Flew this from FRA to JFK in January and it was by far the best business class experience I've ever had. I have SQ F on the a380 this July and cannot wait.
SQ Business Class on the A380 is simply fantastic. I flew LHR to SIN on it in 2019 - then on with SQ on the A350 to PER and then BNE - SIN - LHR on A350 then 777. I loved every single minute but the best was the A380 - book the cook (lobster thermidor) - heaven. Honestly, the flights with SQ were a huge part of the 4 week trip and I am so delighted I went with SQ.
Great video Dan. I did this flight in 2019 and the service and food were great. It looks like they haven't returned to the pre-Covid level of services. I had researched before hand when to sleep across the 19 hours and I managed to grab 6 hours across two 3 hour stints. I loved the seat too and the crew were great too. Very friendly and accommodating.
wife and I did this on the honeymoon in 2019 too. Flight was amazing. Staff even brought us out a cake and gifts when they heard we were celebrating! Book the Cook was amazing and we slept about 12 of the 19 hours in 2 6 hour stints.
The funniest thing was the flight back. I did the direct flight from Singapore to Seattle. I left on Thursday morning local time at 930am and I landed on Thursday morning in Seattle at 9.30am. So I felt I had been given a day back. Travelling across so many time zones is truly mind bending!
I flew this flight about a month ago JFK-SIN. I had a little bit of a different experience! I think that the 22:40 departure time really helped with the jet lag... I was able to get a full eight hours of shut-eye right off the bat. Maybe it was because I slept through the second meal service, but I thought that Singapore Airlines had more dine-on-demand in the middle of the flight. Right after I awoke the FA offered to serve me my Book the Cook meal. Other than that, I totally agree with your review and I found the lack of pajamas and touchscreen very odd. Great work!
I got recommended by another youtuber to watch this (( not sure If I can name him - You had a double he had a single )). Awesome video ! Thanks - from a mum who dreams to travel again with no hassle.
I was airline crew for 28 years. Did you notice that he ate when he was hungry, yet tried to outsmart his body clock? - Everyone is different, I guess, however I believe for myself that sleep is like food. - It's a basic physiological need. I eat when I'm hungry, and sleep when I'm tired. I'm not a businessman, and won't be working at my destination. I usually go straight to my hotel after the flight, rest, and sleep if I want to, then head out for dinner later. My golden rule is to avoid alcohol and caffeine when I fly. They'll both make me go to the bathroom more often, and dehydrate me. I drink sufficient water, some tea, and the fruits and juices out of Singapore are lovely. Altitude also exacerbates the effect of alcohol on the body and mind, and consequently aggravates the effects of jetlag. - I would advise enjoying a Singapore Sling or two after you've arrived at your destination. For me, it's a poor tradeoff to drink alcohol on a flight, deprive myself of adequate sleep, then suffer for it after I arrive at my destination. Fly well, everyone! ✈️
Such a well presented and informative vid. Just came home to Australia on a few SIA flights travelling Melbourne->Singapore->Kuala Lumpur, return over April-May 2022. Loved every leg travelled. Yup, food is way betterrrrr on flights out of Singapore.
Excellent report Dan! I travel to Singapore a couple of times every year. I have never flown the non-stop out of EWR on SA. But I have flown the non-stop from SFO. I like it very much because of the late night departure. I have just booked the Newark route for November and appreciate your report so much. Keep up the good work. I just subscribed and sorry I did not find your channel earlier. Great travels!!

I’ve never flown Singapore Airlines, but Singapore is one of my favorite countries. I flew China Southern from JFK via Guangzhou when I visited. 5/10 recommend China Southern.
I'm booked on this flight in September! I booked Business because I figured there's literally no other flight that will be as necessary to fly in comfort as this one. I'm so excited! I'll be vlogging it as well 😀
Hope SQ watches this and takes the feedback! The pre-covid services need to come back, and that meal plan and catering quality out of the US definitely needs some ironing out.

My goodness Dan! 19 hours in a plane even in Business Class sounds like an absolute nightmare. Qantas is talking about Sydney to London direct with can you believe it 20 hours? The food you were offered looked at best very unappealing.
I've not had a chance to try the A359 yet but back in the 2000s, I did SQ22/SQ21 on its predecessor, the A345. The flights were fantastic and I didn't want to disembark. There was another trip where I chose to fly Eva Air via TPE. On the inbound segment, I had a family emergency and had to return to Singapore at short notice. There was no available seat on BR31 (EWR-TPE) and the airline very apologetically transferred me onto ... you guessed it, SQ21! I couldn't have asked for more! Lol.
Flew SQ21 from EWR - SIN. Absolutely AMAZING Flight! Would I do this flight again? In a heartbeat! SQ is simply top tier. Miss Singapore too. Amazing country and amazing people. If you’ve been to SG, you know.
Amazing, I meant to book this deal but dropped the ball so I'll be in the cheap seats instead to JFK later this month, but really I'm just excited to finally go back to Singapore. We've done the flight from Newark to Singapore twice and you're right about that terminal... it's no good!

Qantas just announced they’re starting London > Sydney direct in a couple years. Will take over 20 hours, am curious to see jetlag on that flight, especially when comparing their new economy and first products only available for that flight

I liked your video! I have flown this route several times. The Singapore airlines crew was always great and I also liked the business class seat. Food was not bad but I would agree coming out of Singapore was better. Although I love this airline 19hours is pretty daunting so I was always happy to arrive at my destination.
I used to sit in East Coast Park (in Singapore) looking out at the waiting container ships in the ocean, and observe the SQ flights taking off from Changi for the last 2 years, and ponder who was onboard and their reasons for travel during this pandemic, wishing I was sitting onboard too. Fortunate enough to take several flights during pandemic too. It is so good to be back onboard and hear that stirring music from the safety video - really brings a tear to the eye. I took SG from SG to London in May in business class on the A350-900 and the food was well presented and delicious. This one looks tacky...wish i can share the pictures...Then took the A380 back to SG...best flight ever...Going back again with Oman air, cant wait for that experience 😀
I feel if Dan made an airline according to his preferences [seat, cabin, boarding and pre-departure service etc] it would easily be the best in the world.
I've flown this direct flight more than a dozen times on Business and I prefer it to any layover. The trick, as you said, is to be strategic with your sleeping times. Usually, I would start adjusting my sleep times a couple of days before the flight. Also, I can say with confidence that I don't like the seat. I'm a back-sleeper and the side "ledge" prevents sleeping straight properly into the diagonal corner. I would get backaches sleeping on this hard bed. Perhaps it's better for side-sleepers. I'd prefer the newer Business seats on the A380 any day.
How was your experience? I'm planning the same route for my parents who are 66 and 71. It will be premium but I'm wondering if it's a comfortable flight
Good review. Not having your seemingly limitless supply of points, I checked prices for a one-way trip, a month ahead. The difference between Premium Economy and Business? A mighty £4,200! For that, I would expect some evaporated milk on my canned fruit. Nice to see Singapore becoming easier to visit. I'm beginning to think that the airline's livery - unlike the stewardesses' uniforms - is looking just a tad 70's and needs an update, becoming less angular.
I recognized the traffic that day because I was in the United express E175 at 8:37 on the right. Wish I had the chance to see you! Safe Travels, hope to see you soon!
Nice ! Thanks for sharing. Lots has changed from when I first took EWR To SIN back in 2008. It was A340-500. I flew business class and like always back in the day the food was pretty good I recall. Still had the lobster Thermidor ( pre order ) 😎
EWR now has a brand new terminal A. This summer, meet my parents are flying to Europe, most likely with American Airlines, and they fly out of terminal A at Newark. I can’t wait to check it out!
My longest flight was a direct flight from Auckland, New Zealand to Frankfurt, Germany. It was in 2020 during the first lockdown and it was 27h in economy. And when we arrived in Frankfurt we waited another 1h30 until someone opened the door of the airport 😅 nobody was working that day, Easter holiday during lockdown and there was no other flight then ours. I would have loved business class…
According to Flightradar24. This longest flight will be cruising at Flight level 350, 380 and 410. It can able climb up to Flight level 430, the maximum plane ceiling without an issue. That's why the longest flight in the world sometimes the flight path has a red line on it.
Jet lag is not standard for most people flying, but like many, I just try to sleep as much as possible before and during a flight. Which works well enough. I know you know much more than me Dan, but on a 19 hour flight, I would think almost everyone would try to sleep as much of that flight as possible.
Love this video! I'm taking LAX to SIN via NRT this June! Then again to TIA... It's a really long trip, but I'm looking forward to SGA's service :)) also excited to explore Changi airport omg 😍
Dan, I just watched your Qatar Airways WORST business class video when you mentioned your misophonia. I too have misophonia and just wanted to let you know, you’re not alone ❤️. Sometimes we feel distant from others or feel like others can’t relate to us. I relate, I get it, and I’m so thankful for your videos 😊
Thank you for this amazing video to show what the real giant aircraft looks like; cause I got lots of interest stimulated by your video on my uni project themed with airline simulation.
thanks for the video! I would have thought Singapore was a little better. I usually fly AA and their business class on both 777-200 and 787 seems to have better seats
Thanks for the review. I flew this in PY and found the throne seats in the back a fantastic ride. Flying back in J class, I wasn't impressed with the seats. They just aren't that comfortable for sleeping, which you really need to do on such a long flight.
Growing up in Spore took this flight many times … luckily my dads Company flew us 1st class. Great airline but a tiring flight with jet lag like no other!
SQ is superb. The crew is the best in the sky without a doubt. I used to be a OneWorld guy but following recent BA/Qantas disasters I decided to change to StarAlliance and SQ as my main airline. Best decision ever. OneWorld who?
We took SQ33 SFO to SIN and thought the food was pretty good! Plating was a bit better than what yours looked like too! One thing we’re bummed about was not asking for an amenity kit! Guess we will have to do Business Class again 😂 or perhaps first one day!!
Welcome to singapore. As a Singaporean I am proud to have one of the world's best airline in the world. Next month I will be flying singapore airlines to brisbane 5
*I know there is huge gap of land towards west of US but still if they take route just below north pole and then from China to Singapore it would take like 10-12 hrs !*

I'm beginning to think that the airline's livery - unlike the stewardesses' uniforms - is looking just a tad 70's and needs an update, becoming less angular.
There are a lot of hidden auspicious meaning in SQ’s livery design. They will probably never change it.
What a great surprise!!!! Absolutely love your videos ❤❤
Very good video, good quality . 👍👍
27 hours?
I love this video 😍😍😍
According to Flightradar24. This longest flight will be cruising at Flight level 350, 380 and 410. It can able climb up to Flight level 430, the maximum plane ceiling without an issue. That's why the longest flight in the world sometimes the flight path has a red line on it.
Thank you Danny for this amazing content omg I enjoyed watching it with my family we loved the 19 hours journey . Happy eid
Thanks for this review Dan! Now i know what to expect when I fly this route in 2023!
Jet lag is not standard for most people flying, but like many, I just try to sleep as much as possible before and during a flight. Which works well enough. I know you know much more than me Dan, but on a 19 hour flight, I would think almost everyone would try to sleep as much of that flight as possible.
Nice flight report.
Absolutely love your videos Dan. So genuine!!!
Thanks so much Kevin😍
Tack så mycket :D jag ser fram emot nästa äventyr!
Love this video! I'm taking LAX to SIN via NRT this June! Then again to TIA... It's a really long trip, but I'm looking forward to SGA's service :)) also excited to explore Changi airport omg 😍
Thank you for combining my two favorite things: luxury travel, and Drag Race!
I love the honesty in your videos.
The longest for me is from Australia, Sydney to Milan Italy! With Singapore air it is a breeze!
Welcome to Singapore!! Love from SG!!
We are flying from Newark to Singapore in two month. Excited
Great video Dan. Brand new to your channel. Love the videos I have watched already. Safe travels!!
Thank you for this amazing video to show what the real giant aircraft looks like; cause I got lots of interest stimulated by your video on my uni project themed with airline simulation.
i am more into breakfast items but sometimes a good lunch can go a long way. Also, judging by the menu, i am very impressed with the options.
Wow Dan, you are making yourself public enemy number one of Lufthansa :)
Great video Dan. Awesome video man really enjoyed every part of the video and i am planning to take this future some time in the future
I'll be flying this in August and I cannot wait!
Great video Dan. Greetings from the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 from Danny
Also, i love their uniforms 💜
I love this video. Absolutely wonderful. I wish I was on that plane right now
Love these guys ! I’ve been a platinum member for years - love my upgrades
Just got my hands on SQ 351.
I expect less ear pressure on the a350, less than a330-200
thanks for the video! I would have thought Singapore was a little better. I usually fly AA and their business class on both 777-200 and 787 seems to have better seats
19 hours... dayum!
Lots of wonderful ideas, such as a dine on demand meal menu 💡
What a smooth landing. I really enjoyed this video 📹 ☺️ 😊
Lovely video. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
SQ is superb. The crew is the best in the sky without a doubt.
I used to be a OneWorld guy but following recent BA/Qantas disasters I decided to change to StarAlliance and SQ as my main airline.
Best decision ever.
OneWorld who?
Singapore has the best seat and bed of all- plus the service it’s out of the world!
Amazing video.
Qantas has finalised their order for 12 A350-1000ulr aircraft for Project Sunrise. The Qantas A350-1000ulr's will have 238 seats spread over 4 classes - First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy. Project Sunrise non-stop ultra long haul services will commence mid 2025.
