People complain about the map size but its both too early to see if the game really needs a bigger map, and also, I think people are approching this with that Early Access mindset of whats in the demo now is what we will have for the next 5 years. Me on the otherhand, I can't wait for the full release. And seeing how their last game, American Fugitive was improved further post-release, I don't think we will get that abandonware treatment (especially since the devs are pretty responsive and do watch / read everything).
I think having to save up points to call in backup is reasonable. The alternative would be to have it on a cooldown, but this way it's tied more to gameplay. The points fill up so quick anyways that you can just summon a new car every few seconds until you have almost a dozen cars after one person, at which point it becomes pure carnage.
11:32 I think that might be a call back to The Boondock Saints. "Jesus, you're the first one that ever got that!" "Yeah, well, I'm an expert in nameology."
@@Solo6R so I'm from the Mystery Science Theater 3000 club. Back in the days of basic cable in the 90s that only had 58 channels and that was a tv show made fun of bad films. Ussually its done for comedy, but it has been used as an Easter Egg in various media to a quick homage.
I could see this being a very good coop game in the future. Cop duo with one flying helicopter and the other in a pursuit vehicle, chasing down crooks.
24:20 look at those tokens as time needed for Police to organise support. I think it just simulate time that police support need to arrive and be ready
Not quite sure about the view, at the thumbnail I though it would be a squad control RTS style, that would be cool, but if it's for individual officer, I might prefer over the shoulder view.
I'm glad to see the orientation of the light bar on the police cars is correct. Drives me crazy when they are backwards. Main reason I could never play Need for Speed Hot Pursuit
The graphics are fantastic, but I don't like the cutscenes with static characters/dialogue. I imagine it's from a small publisher, but it just seems kinda cheap in comparison to the rest of the games graphics. I would love see an open world police game come out, I just am not a huge fan of arcade-style games.
At first I thouht it was American Fugitive but now you're the cops, but this looks pretty interesting. I can definitely get behind more games with top-down perspective over the usual 1st or 3rd person. I'd like to see some cool lesser known older stuff like that .22lr SMG that was used for riots back in the day when less lethal meant lethal, just less
Fantastic! Game looks exciting. And it makes sense you were frustrated with the game's "hard mode", they'll probably eventually add systems to dip into *unlawful* use of force, maybe when there's a proper Internal Affairs department...
It looks great in game play somewhat but the arcade type feeling is what i see in it too and what about the glitch's of falling cars and commands mechanics not liking that i give it try but doughty i will like it.
The game is in pre-alpha, so a large amount of jank is to be expected. We can hope most of that will be fixed over time. Of course, we could argue that pre-alpha is *far* too early in development to release a game, even as early access... I'm definitely gonna wait and see before I make my decision.
I see how you have to manually cycle through 8 sirens through the vehicle wheel. "Use a controller for the best experience" sounds like the company just can't be bothered to learn that keyboards have multiple keys available to them. At 16:40 when you issued the wrong ticket, you logically used the mouse to click on the expired ticket. The problem was, the game was simulating a controller input and, if you rewatch that section, shows it was pointing at "inappropriate parking" instead. For a game that wants you to be very selective about what you're doing, it sure isn't very selective itself.
That’s why it’s in prealpha. They’re probably first refining controller support (which they believe will be the input most user) and then work on improving m&k support.
the timeframe of this game is a bit weird. they don't have computers, got old cruisers, music is synthwave, police with revolvers.... so... the 80s, right? nope, they have tasers since use of force varies a bit on doctrine, they might've based on which on they've chose (i'm LEO outside of the US, so we study a bunch of models from around the world) there is a doctrine where you can't tase fleeing suspects, if people tried to punch you, someone will say "why didn't you restrain him?" - it's the one i'm in, but i won't disclose where it is. although i think that was a bug, i highly doubt they would've based their game in this one. it would be borderline impossible to play
GTA 1 and 2 were rough though, even for their time. This is more in line with GTA: Chinatown Wars. It's a wonder the GTA series became as huge and successful as it did when GTA1 and 2 were the starting points for the series.
It wasn't because "I felt like it", the dude was fleeing. I understand that in some departments, tasers aren't used on fleeing suspects, but in most, it's applicable. This isn't anything new.
@@OfficialInvictus In most civilized countries you would rightly be sued and fined. The dude was flying and not showing any aggression that warranted the use of that level of violence. There have been plenty of games that attempted stuff like that, it's just that most of them suck or were never properly finished. There's also mods for GTA IV and V that try to make those games into a decent patrol officer sim, they're called Liberty City Police Department First Response (LCPDFR) and Los Santos Police Department First Response (LSPDFR). Of course, being mods and pretty complex ones at that, the jank is real.
