    I want to steal Jinx so bad. I absolutely love him! He could torment my Dad since my Dads nickname has always been Bubba as well. I just picture Jinx saying Bubba and my Dad saying what do you want? Lmao! I would never steal him obviously, but it's funny to think of that scenario.

    Timely topic. I am pretty sure my macaw's wings were clipped before he could learn to fly. Since I am moving into a new place he'll have enough space to fly once he figures out he can. I was at a exotic animal vet conference and one of the leading avian vets was discussing was flight training as a form of exercise, and taunted it as a way to keep weight down, stop behavior problems etc.

    I am kinda binge watching this series and am so glad i found it.
    In this video you can realy see the improvement Morgan has had in her confidence.
    Her Foot, that made her hasitating the first videos, is so much more in a noirmal use.
    I love seeing you guys build up the confidance level of this bird so much.
    She is pushing with both foots now, THAT is awesome!

    It's nice to see them fly. My Ringneck flys to me, it's feels so good.
    I like the outdoors enclosures that you have. Do the neighbors complain about the noise? I would love to leave my Ringneck outside but I worried her screaming would bother neighbors. I do put her outside in her smaller cage but I am there with her.

    • @BirdTricks
      @BirdTricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sometimes, yes. Mostly with our sun conures they complained - but with our other birds they aren't making noise as often so we haven't had any complaints. I also keep 4 of my birds out at my folks house (6 miles away) and they're on more property so that helps divy up the noise.

    I'm confused!!!
    You talk about teaching birds how to fly. I had a parakeets (when I was young). I never had to teach them to fly. Flying was was like breathing to them. They just did it!

    Really good video, I just wish I could get mine to simply fly. She is fully flighted but will only fly if something scares her (I.e. someone drops a pot or pan). I have the DVD that Chet did a long time ago and I guess I need to watch it again. You guys should be so proud of yourselves. You can tell you love theses birds!

    Such beautiful birds!!! How do you manage their time in their outdoor cages: how much time do they spend indoors/outdoors in the cages by themselves (i.e. out of eyesight of you)? CAN they spend time by themselves, or are they all the time with you?

    I really enjoy your videos. I have a B&G who has never flown by choice. If I put him at the top of cabinets he would just explore and then scream when done. How do I get my bird to use his wings? I think it would be good stimulation for him.

    I'd love tips on flying a 31yr old BG macaw that doesn't know how to fly. I started targeting her from one perch to the other, but she won't even do a small jump.
    I've been just holding onto her feet and running around with her to get her to start exercising her muscles, but have no idea where to go next.

    I have a question, i bought my bird when she was already almost a year old, and the store was always always hands on with her, but seemed like i noticed one girl who was scared of her and would almost like tease her and poke, so not sure if this is why but she likes to try and bite me not as bad as in the beginning ive had her a year now (Luna) how can i stop her from wanting to bite me?

    I love this series. Morgan is doing so great.
    Can you also give us an update about Jinx, Tusa and Comet? Have they gotten better around each other?

      OsterSocke I haven’t been able to work on it so it’s the same unfortunately. I may see a change this summer as Comet will be staying at my folks house and that always makes the dynamic easier with Tusa and Jinx.

    would it be okay to lay mulch under the aviaries? I was thinking to soften under their feet. Then I could put the "dirty" mulch in my garden (AKA natural fertilizer) and add clean when I clean it? or will they get splinters?

    If you had to choose a bird that will travel with someone all the time, even outside and to businesses (with harness), would that choice be a macaw? Looking for something affectionate for an emotional support animal for a man with PTSD. Would be hand raising from a chick.

    • @BirdTricks
      @BirdTricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would likely choose something smaller and easier to travel with. As an emotional support animal I would not go with a bird.

    • @joeyquigley3794
      @joeyquigley3794 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually "emotional support" would be the wrong wording as it sounds official. An emotional support animal would actually be used to comfort people during panic attacks which obviously a bird would not be okay with. He's a Vietnam veteran who hasn't left his property in over a decade and just looking for something affectionate that he can care for like a child. He wanted children but couldn't have them.

    A neighbor could no longer care for his sulphur crested cockatoo so he asked if I would care for it. I agreed even though I’ve never owned a large bird. Any tips? Or videos you might recommend I would love to teach it to fly is it possible?

    What do u use as treats

    • @samanthawit4348
      @samanthawit4348 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use any treat really. But you can only use that treat for training only. For my bird I use small amounts of sunflower and safflower seeds.
      And for his daily pellets I use Harrison. Never his training pellets.
