Those are some weird UDP ranges. The Nintendo Website actually wants you to forward UDP 1-65535 lol
I don't think the Nintendo Switch needs all possible UDP ports. But these ranges gave me NAT Type A
Isn't that just a DMZ cause your forwarding all the ports

I use a FritzBox 7490 and it says that the Port Range can’t be larger that 255 I tried just doing 65280 - 65535 which let me set up the port forward but it didn’t give me any end results. Please help me out I checked that port forward website u suggested someone else didn’t address my issue

the adress and login info should be on your router. unfortunately some idiot changed mine so i cant do anything
Find out your router ip, type in on your browser and then type in user name and password (default is admin on both or user on both)

I can access online functionality in all my games BUT AC:NH. Nat Type B is good for Smash, Splatoon.

Lots of providers use different methods but it’s straight forward and a great tutorial. I’m pretty good with stuff and only wanted the ranges but very helpful video good work keep it up

I have NAT type F and I’ve bought a new router and even now have a wired connection. I don’t care about tiny bits of lag, I just want the online multiplayer that I’m paying for!
EDIT: If you have a modem/router hooked up to another router and THEN connected to your switch, it may be that your router connected to your switch is fine and doesn’t need any fixes but the modem/router isn’t, or vice versa. I’d double check both. I have yet to check this since I have to factory reset my modem/router, but we shall see.
My NAT actually went from B to C. Worth a shot though but I at least figured out how to port forward.

For those in Australia , you'll need to contact your ISP and request a static IP address - I did (at a cost of $5.00 per month) and it took my NAT from a D to a B.
i back this, my isp (aussie broadband) did it for free and half an hour later my nat went from D to B and i was able to play online again. you need to request to 'opt out of CGNAT'

After 1 hour I rebooted my router and I tried to play Mario kart 8 online and it’s still not working. Did you need to change some settings on the router or do I need to call them again?
I think you should tell people in broad terms how to do this on their Router, every router is different but there has to be a general procedure to do this. You just show how to do it in yours. How are people supposed to figure how to do this on their routers?.

I tried port forwarding and setting a DMZ and neither worked. I'm tearing my hair out here! It worked perfectly fine before as well I don't know why it changed to NAT type F?

I only have the router that my ISP gave to me. I have two wifi boosters also from the ISP would they mess with the NAT at all? A guy came to fix my TV box a few days ago and that's when I started having these NAT problems. I already had the wifi boosters before this and it was working fine with them? Whatever the guy did to fix my TV seems to have screwed my NAT... I just can't figure it out?

Edit: I just made two different UDP section things, one going from 52000 to 61000 and the other going from 61002 to 65535 and now my NAT type is A! Awesome!

Ah I recognize that router config from when I had AT&T uVerse :) This worked for me, at least as far as the Nat Type B -> A. But that port range is still pretty large. It would be nice to narrow that range down so as to not disrupt non-Switch applications.
you never explained how to access the first tab you are in. you just said that you where logged in to your router. idk where to find that tab
Turns out I have a private IP and peer-to-peer doesn't work with it. My ISP doesn't offer private IP addresses for the internet I have, cellular/LTE internet. I installed a VPN and am using a dedicated IP and use my computer as a hotspot to use my switch with. Works great, NAT type B from a D.
I’m in Australia, I tried literally everything and still D. I’m with Aussie Broadband , went to app, clicked on static ip for $5 a month and literally went from D to B .

lol i waste 7.99 € for nintendo switch online and i will not be able to play for 3 months because of nat type D. This is first and the last time that i will buy the online subscription. But i don't get how i was able to play splatoon 2 with the 7 days trial subscription... man that's weird

Heck yea, got it to work, but I used Nintendo’s suggested port range. Difference in Smash Bros between type A and B is night and day, a lot less latency over wifi. I bet over Ethernet its even better.
Ethernet is 100% a must for anythint even remotely latency sensitive the way the Switch handles internet. The OLED's dock having an ethernet port on the board itself rather than having to daisy chain adapters together is unironically one of the best revision upgrades nintendo has ever done.

I have spectrum internet so this is really confusing.. I’m not able to find these settings you’re talking about on my pc.
I can't open port 61001 on mine. It tells me that it's a reserved port. So I had to set up 3 ranges just to leave that single port out of the equasion.
Even after all that...I get 21 Mbts/s on Nat A....out of 300 Down on fiber wire. This fixed our NAT issue, but didn't increase our Down/Up speeds at all. We never get above 21 m/s
I posted a comment about this today, security issue on that port. Used by trojans.

@@m.a.d.pandagaming6895 I guess so, without it saying locked. I just skipped this port number and went onto port 61002 and onword, creating 3 sets of ports? It seems to work for me give it a try if you still having issues with it.

@@ZekePolarisBSH i already did that. Just avoided that single port. We have a NAT A now....nut it's barely getting 21 mg down. Turns out....PS4 and Nintendo Switch bith only utilize 2.4 ghz range wireless, not 5 ghz. As far as I know...only Xbox One uses 5 ghz range.
Confirmed on my AT&T Arris. 61001 was reserved so I split the 2nd UDP making a grand total of three, 45000-51000, 52000-61000. & 61002-65535

Back in the day, I just called my internet provider and they changed it. Back in the day I mean around the time this video was released.
FYI I have found out that my isp is now using CG-NAT.
What is CGNAT?
Carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT, also known as large-scale NAT), is a method of sharing a single unique public IP address with multiple services to allow providers to extend their pool of usable IPv4 addresses. This means your modem or router will be assigned a private IP address instead of a unique public IP address. Our network will then translate that into a shared public address allowing you to access the Internet.
Problem is, my router only allows me to have a port where the numbers in between are not above 255...

I really can't get this to work, I feel like I've tried everything and at best I got it to B but then it immediately jumped down to F. I usually have D. I tried the clearing settings thing but it didn't help. I tried setting up a static IP for the Switch, didn't help. I tried to give it access to ports 1-65535, that didn't even work o.o I might cry soon, this is so frustrating xD

I have 4 Nintendo Switches, all with a wired connection. Is there a way that I can get these port settings for all 4 switches? I set it up on 1 switch successfully going from NAT B to NAT A but when I go to do set the port range for another switch it says those are already assigned to another device. Is there any way to set all 4 of my devices to be NAT Type A?
Fullcone NAT should give you ALL NAT Type A if your router supports it

@@Tarebear120 I have the same router 🙂 go to advanced settings by logging to your router. GO to WAN settings then you will see this option NAT type =Symmetric changed it to =Fullcone, and It is suggested to switch back to symmetric NAT after using the services and games. you should disable port forwarding & upnp too.

It won't let me do more than 1 ie I can't do 52000-65355 AND the other one, I have to create 2 separate ones. Also it won't actually let me go up to 65355 only 65354. Using NETGEAR

Followed the instructions. It worked for wireless. But when I use my switch docked and wired I go back to B. Is there a way to fix this ?? I noticed the IP address changed while wired and I tried to make a duplicate setting for the wired mode but it says the port ranges are already selected and it wont let me make a new setting with the same port ranges.
Is there any practical purpose in trying to get it to be NAT type A if what I have already is type B? I was told that type B was fine and I haven't noticed any issues with it. What's the difference?
NAT type A is just slightly better connection online, and you also have to have NAT type A to be able to connect to people with NAT type F.
if you are on ethernet then the name of the adapter tends to be the one you need to select instead of the default host name of your switch (i am on xfinity and this fixed my connection from NAT type B to type A)
I use Spectrum and under WAN, it asks for an ip address. How can I have that if Spectrum doesn’t have a static ip?

My NAT Type is mostly just A but occasionally drops to NAT Type D.

When activating port-forward, it mixes with 'D', 'B', and rarely an 'A' type for me.

GUYS DONT DO THS IS WILL GET WORSE I KNOW HOW TO FIX IT!!!! so don't open Nintendo for 1 day and the next day go on a game u can play online except the one you want it to work on and then restart your game you WANT to use it on then open it and go where your internet is the strongest (area) and then open it and see if it worked! I opened arms and played online then I opened splatoon 2 and it worked (ps this is for Nintendo switch but you can try this if you don't use a Nintendo switch) :))))
I just discovered that my Device Name on my network was the same as my cell phone. I changed the name of my Switch and presto the forwarding gave me type A

Guys just use your mobile hotspot, changed my nat type from D to B 😂 my internet router has more speed, but is more restricted …. My internet provider was gonna charge me extra $5 a month just to fix this with a static ip(I’m based in Australia). Very strange but if you have enough data on your mobile plan this should work?
