Doing a great job, young lady. Noticed when using grinder that your hair is hanging down. You should tie it up. If it gets caught in grinder, it'll pull out your hair in a split second. Keep up the good work.
Also please wear protective goggles/glasses when grinding away chunks. 😢 I saw big pieces go quite close to your eyes when you were cutting away/grinding the wall to get the hole through 🤓 ❤
**We're all here cheering you on and hoping you're doing all you can to be safe, happy and keep on dancing! Forget about TH-cam rules. It's ALL about YOU, girl! AND YOUR AMAZING LIFE!!!!
Digging out all those floors were an ubelievable hard job and, like I said before, you are one GUDTZY WOMEN working endlessly to achieve your dreams and show women worldwide what can be done. WUNDERBAR...
I also watch a young woman in Vietnam who builds almost everything on her land with the rocks and motar. Meanwhile, I sit in my recliner and be amazed. Fighting with that membrane would have sent me to the liquor cabinet. Well done Maya
Hi there, I`m portuguese living abroad and I accidentally saw one of your videos (then i watched almost all), I`m really glad you found a corner in my country for your projects. Maybe you`re my neighbor and we haven`tcrossed paths yet... wish you all the best, cheers
So much coming together this week! I remember being able to work as hard as you do (but not the joy you obviously get out of it; wow!). I'm older and pretty beat-up now, but I can still look around our home and see all that I've done in the past couple of decades. And I'm still at it, just much more slowly. Never stop because, why should you? We've had a very strange Spring here in Wisconsin, USA, too. Alternating between rain, wind, hot, cold, repeat. But our leaves have come out over the past couple of weeks, the birds are nesting, and we just planted five new trees.
Just wondering, shouldn’t the mortar be left alone to dry for a few days before they slap another wall in front of it and block the air flow? It seems like the builders are rushing the job a bit and left Maya to do the most difficult part alone.
The sheer simplicities and beautiful distractions all set in the echoes from the past all seem so nostalgic as the old blends in with the new. The past blends seamless with the addition of the modern improvements. Like the glorious nature there all around you, your renovation is coming to life and breathing life....breathing life and evolving into your dreams! Blessings to you on this journey!
Maya, you never cease to amaze me with your willingness to learn new skills whilst creating your dream. It’s looking great. Loving the leaves coming through and all your potato plants and apple blossom.. let’s hope the weather warms up for you soon 😊
I'm very excited to see that you almost have 100,000 subscribers! Soon. Some money will flow your way and nobody deserves it more than you! You do a great job and you entertain and delight us every week! ❤
Maya, why are you mixing the cement in the wheelbarrow? Work smarter, not harder! Save yourself from back pain later in life and use the cement mixer. I use my cement mixer to mix my dirt for propagating seeds and making compost for garden beds. You are doing a wonderful job on the renovations xx
There is something so addictive and satisfying seeing what love and effort can do to old forgotten structures! The work is amazing and you're really doing justice to the property. Not to mention that Portugal is unbelievably beautiful! Just found you a few days ago but I'll keep watching!
A safely-tethered goat can be used to eat a chosen section of grass in a garden or orchard as required, and can be moved onto a new patch each day, without the need for any fences. Goats will happily eat the unwanted mimosa seedlings on your wild forest land too. And can provide you with milk, cheese and meat too. 🙂
Your place is so tranquil. I think i might be trying to figure out how to hide a small modern water wheel that sits directly in the river (if you're allowed to do so). You could probably power your entire site for free with one or more of those.
hello Maya, I dont understand why you dont put the membrane on the wall before putting the bricks? is there a step or a thing i miss? good job anyway, keep the energy :)
Hi, I left the stone wall open to breathe into the air gap to prevent mold. The membrane will be close to the brick wall to prevent most of the moisture to soak into the brick wall which is very thin.
I am new to your channel, and I like what I see. With so many you peeps out there looking for an easy life, you, you are doing it the way that is most rewarding for you. Keep up the good work it is looking great. Like I said I am new to this channel, so this idea might be a day late and dollar short so to speak, but where I live, we would use piping bags like those for cake decorating, to force concrete into those deep holes it might be a little easier and quicker for you instead of one trowel at a time. Well, if you have any more wall that you need to fix. Anyway, just something to think about. Good luck, it is all coming together nicely.
I love what you've done so far and admire your courage doing this on your own, I love your little dance's you have when you're excited and achieving a goal. Well done ❤
A little tip for straightening pipes. Get a piece of wood and drill a hole through it the diameter of the pipe, then pull the pipe through it. It will straighten it without causing deformations.
I always knew that I was a super hard worker , raising children ,cooking everyday and keeping an immaculate house. I have to say you are an amazing hard worker with a great work ethic. Do you also work a full time paying job ? Your home and land are becoming so beautiful.
Wow!!! I admire your stamina and patience! Love those sunsets and gorgeous sunrises!!! Can't wait for next week's video 🫶❣️. I love your property with the breathtaking river! 👍🥰👍
Your attitude is great. I am so glad you are learning new skills too. The river is beautiful. I'm thinking you can make a pool in your yard. Just make it with bricks! Well, cement blocks would be better. But you have that nice beach, so you can just go there and swim. It is such a lot of work to fix up the old structures. You are doing a great job of it. Be well and keep motivated.
I’m a new subscriber from Canada and watching the different building techniques is cool some are the same others are very different, keep up the quality content.👍

Je me demandais aussi si l’air « emprisonné » entre les 2 parois ne redistribuerait pas l’humidité vers le mur en brique? je n’ai pas vu d’isolation avec une membrane étanche coté extérieur du nouveau mur😮
I have a question , the black dust in the wall is Moho? Do we have to scrap de wall with a steel brush before put the cement? O it is right to put the cement over the Moho?
@@myla2102last summer, she and her volunteers dug out the outside of that wall, reinforced it, and put a membrane to repel water. Today it has been filled in but it is water repellent on the exterior.
You are so amazing and so interesting to listen to! I look forward to watching all your vids. I would have loved ro have done this 25 uears ago. I still want to do this. But hurt so badly daily, that I am unsure how long I would last. It would take me much longer now. We have always done everything ourselves.
dear Maya, you are amaze me every video!! I'm so proude of you and envy at you, with your amazing motivation strength and resourcefulness. Wonderwomam!! Keep going.❤💪👏🙌
I love to see such independent young women and the bravery that you are. Can you make an episode talking about you? I think that I'm not the only one with the same thinking. Keep doing what you do.
You r a builder, plumber, carpenter, gardener, painter , electrician. You are all rounded… and yes you r beautiful 😊. When I”ll buy home I will call you India to guide me 😅😅😅😅
i'm putting a comment mainly for the algorithm, i've bunch watched a lot of your vid, loved it, love to see how you learn how to do things, you have a wonderful piece of land, don't hesitate to do more part of the video with camera just recording the timelapse of the land (it will give even more immersion) Keep fighting, don't give up!
:-) Lieben Gruss
Maya, brick walls should always have a supportive break for every 1.2 meters height. Walls without breaks are not nearly as strong. Good luck to a fellow restoration geek!
For "Old wall" preferred a lime mortar because the wall “breathe”, cement mortar is waterproof and retains humidity. Hope this is not too late??? Bon courage.
Maya you are such an inspiration in the way that you stay steadfast in your goals. As for your positive attitude regardless of the challenges you face daily.... derserves huge respect!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us 🤗 Durban SA

He’s not wrong about the grinder. Or anything that spins really. I had a cousin lose a chunk of hair once like that.
Also a dust mask. Inhaling those small particles are not good for the lungs.
Don’t forget not to run with scissors!
Also please wear protective goggles/glasses when grinding away chunks. 😢 I saw big pieces go quite close to your eyes when you were cutting away/grinding the wall to get the hole through 🤓 ❤

You’re amazing! Your projects, your videography and editing, and your cheerful ‘can do’ attitude that sets you apart. You were raised well Maya. 👏
First the membrane then the bricks.
You are such a hard working person, I love it. Good luck!

Dealing with that Vapor Barrier would have been the death of me.
You are very patient Maya!
I was surprised myself that it worked as planned!
Mixing mortar by hand in a wheelbarrow with a enxada is so Portuguese style 😀

Hi, the mixer is terrible to clean, so if I just need a wheelbarrow it's a lot easier to just mix it by hand :)

Check into something called Grout bags. You could squeeze the grout into small spaces like frosting and then smooth with a trowel.
