Maya, I can see two simple terracotta large vases at the feet of those columns, with two lovely bougainvilleas growing up to your balcony! I’ve been following you from the beginning and you have no idea how proud I am of you! 🌺
Oh good idea. I was thinking the balcony railing is so pretty (well really the top half of her house - maya, I’m digging the coat of white paint. It really pops now). But I was mentally trying to figure out how to beautify the support columns to look as good as the balcony. bougainvilleas vines or other flowering climbing vines would mask the support columns and add to the enchanted cottage look. I’m excited to see what you do next whatever that may be. Your vision is coming to life!
Ohhh I like the idea of vines growing up the columns. Personally I'd go for jasmine, because then she'd be treated to the beautiful scent when she's enjoying her balcony or even when she has her windows open.
I can hardly believe all the hard work you do. The beautiful balcony is a strong statement for your leisure. You deserve every completion dance you do. Thanks for taking all of us along on your achievements.
You are bringing new life and excitement back to people, finding purpose within...I am so enjoying your energy in how you restoring a beautiful old building! Well done and enjoy your Princess Balcony. 🎉
Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair....A balcony thing!!! It looks wonderful. I would keep the welder on speed dial, he did a nice job. You are a machine and yes you should be very proud! My suggestions to make using wood screws easier. An old candle or an almost used up bar of soap. Pass the threads over the soap/candle. Just a quick swipe on one side of the threads. This lubricates the screw as you drive it into wood. Doesn't weaken the bond and make driving the screw much easier. #2...If you can find "Square drive" or "Torx drive" screws. I find them sooooo much nicer to work with than traditional phillips head screws. Often a driver bit is included in larger boxes. Thanks for your time.
Simply stunning balcony. Absolutely LOVE the energy & vibes that you share each week! All that you have achieved (so far) deserves the title...Princess Wonder Woman . Thank you for being you 🎉
Yesterday I was working on a project that was difficult for me so I thought, What would Maya do? Maya would say Let’s go! and then She would dance. So I did! Thanks for inspiring me Maya. I was very satisfied with myself.
After seeing what you have done and built for yourself I am seriously impressed with your progress. Now even looking into the possibilities of doing the same. Portugal is truly beautiful! Keep doing what you are doing , I’m sure you will end up with everything you wished for! Stay safe!🌞🌻❤️
Very glad you build the posts and the supporting beam at the front of the balcony. I was a bit concerned about a proper static stability before 👏👍🙋🏼♂️
Sparkle on! The hard work is paying off! You rebuilt that crumbling wall to make it strong, and put in the hole for the second window. Now a balcony fora happy princess! 🥰🌷🌺🪴
Thank you for continuing to share your journey with us, Maya! I love what you did with the rubble, I think that will stabilize your roads on your property. I so love seeing your videos. I appreciate your strength and determination, and your joy in life. I absolutely love your riverfront home! ❤️
Maya the balcony is so beautiful, and the outward curve of it gives you a little more space as opposed to a straight railing. You work so hard! I don't know how you do it sometimes. You are creating such a beautiful space. ❤️
OMG, Maya! YOU DO have the perfect princess balcony! BTW - no one works as hard as you do... You may never know the inspiration you are to all of us who have taken the risks/ opportunities you've embraced. My Sunday coffee with you dancing and your projects is my new happy place. So...thanks, girl! 👊🏼 🤸🏼♂️🤸🏼🤸🏼♀️ Keep us dancing with you!
This balcony is stunning !!!! Your whole place is like a fairy tale come true. I absolutely love it. And you are such a hard worker. Such an inspiration.
The balcony is beautiful Maya and now nice and strong so no worries on safety. I bet you feel like a princess and why not, every girl deserves a balcony. You work so hard, and have a wonderful nature, so happy you are a breath of fresh air. When you dance I can imagine you doing that as a child, a real free spirit x
Initially, you said you were a novice at construction. It's incredible to see how far you have progressed and wirh great proficiency. Great job. The balcony is a work of art.
Balcony is beautiful! Your either going to make a garden bed/wall with the rocks or work on wall near the balcony? Or possibly go on holiday! What ever you do you always do it with joy and happiness😊
Well done Maya your balcony looks beautiful and secure. You enjoy your place is amazing this blue skies and all the green around not forgetting your beautiful river.
I am so proud of you. You are such an amazing woman. Your work ethic is next to none. You work hard and learn fast. you are simply amazing. Any guy should be proud to call you his partner. Keep up the great work
I have worked with metal with my dad from an early age, and now in my later years still welding and forming with metal . I just love the form and design of the balcony rails ,so beautiful cheers from OZ
It wasn't necessary to put two pillars to hold the balcony... I saw how the balcony was built and it seemed to me that it was quite resistant.... With these two pillars, the structure of the house is somewhat strange... Much better as without them. Note: alternatively, two angled beams could have been placed at the bottom of the balcony, in this way it solved the problem, without detracting from that part of the house. Beautiful project that you Maya have in hand. All the best to you beautiful...😚
I also think you did not need these two pillars: two people and the railing (beautiful one) and the metal horizontal beam above both pillars were pushing down that balcony BEFORE the pillars were installed, so why you needed them? The point of balcony is the horizontal extention attached to the vertical wall, technically, this is not a balcony anymore. This is an ok solution if you needed the support, but it does not seem so. BTW: I am not a critic of yours, I have been watching and admiring you from the beginning, I just disagree/do not understand the need of these pillars (and I am a construction engineer). anyway: impressive life and river and work: keep going!!
I wondered the same thing as several other people here. Wasn't the balcony supported with metal rods going under the bedroom floor? It was cantilevered, right? Making any additional support unnecessary? Whatever makes you feel safe though, of course, Maya. I can't wait to see how your beautiful place turns out. I enjoy your spirit and light and watching the progress that all your hard work has accomplished. And, I too love your happy dances. We are kindred spirits in that regard. I dance to the music in my head many times throughout the day. 😃 Let's go!
What an absolutely beautiful addition to your home Maya! Your super hard work is definitely bringing you amazing rewards. Happy dance time! Thank you for sharing. I'm so happy for you and celebrate that you are proud of yourself!!!
What an amazing journey to get to this point. Amazing work girl. And unlike the previous builders you will always have a pictorial/video history for the newcomers 100 years from now. Just beautiful.
What a physical week for you Maya!!! ,,,,,however the results have added that WOW factor ! You have EVERY right to be proud of your achievements in this project.... Well done!!!!!! Durban SA
Hola Maya. Yo soy de España y estoy impresionado con el trabajo que estás haciendo. Es muy inspirador. Los portugueses son muy buena gente.Siempre dispuestos a ayudar. Un abrazo ¡¡¡¡
I'm completely blown away by your enthusiasm and work ethic. It should be an enjoyable experience from start to finish even if things don't always go well and your little victory dances have me grinning from ear to ear😊😊. I wish you many many years of happiness in your beautiful home and endless joy on your fabulous balcony.
Really well done! If I may offer some advice; When next you go buy screws, get Torx instead of cross-head. They are so much easier to work with and you mostly just need 2-3 different bits instead of the multitude of different cross/Philips bits!
Portuguese local metalworkers do such beautiful work still. It's so interesting to drive around and see all the amazing iron and metal work on buildings.
What a power house you are, what friends you have and what a really nice balcony created. You have all done an amazing job and finished with a special space. 💕X
I am watching from the US, Colorado. I built my own small “prince” house. Concrete work and all. Watching you makes my muscles ache! Such hard work. The pain was worth the reward. Rewarding enough to enable me to get my dream retirement house in Umbria Italia. In a beautiful storybook hamlet. So, no pain, no gain. Your property is just incredible. Keep going, it is a pleasure to see your progress.
I'm blown away by your comments - you just made my day! This is the best community on TH-cam I believe 💜
Maya…I want to visit Portugal this year. When is a good time to visit? I don’t want to come in the heat or rainy seasons. Thanks
We ❤️U! Are you having any volunteers this year?
Your are a very hard worker Maya.
Good projects. Are you german?
Did you pre drill the holes before putting the screws in?
It was a lot of work but now you're 100% sure that the balcony is sturdy and safe. Enjoy your princess balcony ❤
That balcony is going to be around over two hundred years from now if it was made out of wood fifty year's or less
Every Princess deserves a balcony ✨ 😊

What I like is that all the finnised stuff ends with a "YOUHUU!" 😄

Beautiful project that you Maya have in hand. All the best to you beautiful...😚
I like the 2 supports. It makes me think it is there to stay. Climbing vines would look beautiful up those poles.
I also think you did not need these two pillars: two people and the railing (beautiful one) and the metal horizontal beam above both pillars were pushing down that balcony BEFORE the pillars were installed, so why you needed them?
