Can we take a moment to appreciate Jennifer Morrison's acting in this scene? She goes from anger to tears of sadness to joy to tears of joy all in a single scene. And she makes you feel all that as well. just with a little change of expression.
I think they were just interested in overhearing his conversation on the phone, but when Marshall needed to put it all together, he asked his family to help be the audience as he figured out all the things at play. Haha It was nice.

Hmm, interesting writing.... Technically, the whole problem of this episode was lack of information and misunderstandings, which are usually VERY annoying to watch in movies and shows because we already know what the misunderstanding is. Here, however, the audience actually learns the truth along with the characters, and as soon as Marshal realizes the misunderstanding he *directly* calls both Zoey and Ted to immediately clear up the whole situation so they can stop fighting already. This kind of instant resolution as soon as we simply have knowledge/understanding is very satisfying and rewarding for us as the viewers.
I know Im a year late, but I thought Id comment anyway. The reason the "misinformation" plot doesn't work is because its very unrealistic. The writers have to jump through hoops to find reasons to keep the facade going. So we as the audience find it hard to relate to the characters. Here, as you said, we learn with the characters. They are bouned by social rules and we unwittingly follow along because we understand those rules and can relate. Zoey doesn't want to be seen as a whore, being still in a relationship with the captain, and not formally divorced yet. Ted is fighting with his feelings for who he believes to be a married woman. Then, as you already mentioned, the veil is lifted as soon as the misunderstanding is understood. Its actually some solid writing.

This scene is one of my favorites. It was frustrating because there was a solution to the Arcadian issue. Ted had a plan to incorporate the Arcadian to his building that he threw away once he realized Zoey was married. He could've tried to do it again.

I think one of the best parts of the show is that even though we knew he wasn't going to end up with any of the women who came before the mother, they still had such a chemistry that you shipped them. It felt real. A lot of other shows don't really have this same feeling.

But to think of it, she left her husband for Ted, and even after Ted won the battle of the Arcadian, she still wanted to get back with him. Plus she was so pretty and her voice was so soft. The sad part is, while this may be a bit over-simplified and dramatized... its highly representative of today's dating and courting, in that most men & women get in the way of their own happiness.... sabotaging many relationships with real potential, because of stupid preconceived ideas, notions, bias, etc... that are often unwarranted, naive, or just plain shallow.
I agree. But do remember that Ted was trying to do the right thing. Realising he had feelings for a married woman, he tried to push her away rather than come between them. It was just that there were things he didn't know about.

Zoey was really an under appreciated character. left Captain and moved into a new apartment just because she liked Ted. Whereas girlfriend like Stella, who was great at first, left Ted at the altar. Told his husband everything about Ted and their love life which allowed him to make The Wedding Bride, thus making Ted the bad guy....when it was Ted who was the victim. Whereas Zoey, yes she had problems and did try to ruin Ted's career... Risked everything and left her married life for Ted.
They all wore the same colour throughout the episode based on the "Cluedo"-character Marshall assigned to them when explaining the situation to his family (Zoe wears white for Ms. White, Ted wears purple for Professor Plum, the Captain wears Yellow for Colonel Mustard etc). Details like these in HIMYM will never not amaze me
Zoey reminds me so much of Mona from ‘Friends’ - both of them (due to unfortunate external circumstances) were unable to make things work with the main male character, and may not have been the most perfect partners for either of them, but my god there was just something so endearing about them, and not to mention they’re both so damn sexy... and this is coming from a guy that rarely openly calls women in such a way.
The actress played her character so well. I thought Ted and Stella had great chemistry, but Zoey and Ted left sitcom-level quality and became something more. But then they got into a relationship and had sitcom-level problems. Lol A shame they couldn't work and didn't last.

Imo Ted's relationship with Zoey was more interesting than with the mom. Would have loved for them to end up together in the end instead of the trash that was the finale.
Tracey was the worst of all of his girlfriends. Zero chemistry. Totally forced relationship, boring AF. Couldn't believe fans were so pissed she died. The ending made perfect sense. It was always about Robin. That's where his heart always was. She was just too damn damaged by her psychopathic father, that she wasn't ready until she was way past her prime. Tracey was the fill in relationship until Robin became ready.
I loved Tracy and Ted, but Zoey was a good match for him, i liked them so much, this scene was one of the most romantic in the show. Their break up was so lame.
As much as everyone hated Zoey, she was really a great character to have. Someone that hated the protagonist but also really enjoyed their company. It had anime tsundere vibes lol. And the way they got together was fucking cute.
The people hating on Zoey need to understand that she hasn't had the easiest past, with her husband dying shortly after marriage, working under an asshole boss and going through a traumatic breakup all while dealing with the stress of hospital routine.
This is one of the most heartwarming and romantic scenes in the entire show imo. It's the kind of thing dreams are made of. The only parts of the show more romantic were his moments with Robin and the first two moments with Victoria. Unpopular opinion. I couldn't really invest any feelings in the wife because she was there for so little time that she felt like just another of the random about 77 other women he dated. There for one to a few episodes and then gone. In this case, it's because she died, but it leaves pretty much the same feeling for me. Also, "If Zoey wasn't married to Colonel Mustard." That fucking killed me. 😂😂😂 Oh, and to answer the video description, it's the yin to love's yang. They're two sides of the same, very thin coin. Intense Love can turn to intense hate over the course of a few minutes and vice versa.
Poor Zoey could never find the right guy. I mean The Captain, Ted… I even heard that her first husband was a doctor but he killed some guy so she left him.

this girl creates chemistry to any romantic interest of her character .. from house to ted to schneider(big stan) .. and her being coupled with the captain didnt look weird ..
Zoey probably is the best for Ted, they banter and argue all the time but they love doing it, they have great chemistry not only with ted but with the gang, I really wanted zoey to be the mother. They just connected really well.

Imo Ted's relationship with Zoey was more interesting than with the mom. Would have loved for them to end up together in the end instead of the trash that was the finale.
Tracey was the worst of all of his girlfriends. Zero chemistry. Totally forced relationship, boring AF. Couldn't believe fans were so pissed she died.
The ending made perfect sense. It was always about Robin. That's where his heart always was. She was just too damn damaged by her psychopathic father, that she wasn't ready until she was way past her prime. Tracey was the fill in relationship until Robin became ready.

As much as everyone hated Zoey, she was really a great character to have. Someone that hated the protagonist but also really enjoyed their company. It had anime tsundere vibes lol. And the way they got together was fucking cute.

The people hating on Zoey need to understand that she hasn't had the easiest past, with her husband dying shortly after marriage, working under an asshole boss and going through a traumatic breakup all while dealing with the stress of hospital routine.
This is one of the most heartwarming and romantic scenes in the entire show imo. It's the kind of thing dreams are made of. The only parts of the show more romantic were his moments with Robin and the first two moments with Victoria. Unpopular opinion. I couldn't really invest any feelings in the wife because she was there for so little time that she felt like just another of the random about 77 other women he dated. There for one to a few episodes and then gone. In this case, it's because she died, but it leaves pretty much the same feeling for me.
Also, "If Zoey wasn't married to Colonel Mustard." That fucking killed me. 😂😂😂
Oh, and to answer the video description, it's the yin to love's yang. They're two sides of the same, very thin coin. Intense Love can turn to intense hate over the course of a few minutes and vice versa.

Zoe is one of my favorite love interests for ted. Top three. Along with Robin and Victoria. Honestly, his relationships with Zoe and Robin were objectively unhealthy, but I can't stop loving them. What can I say? I'm a total Ted.

Ok but like I get the whole Ted and robin thing and Ted finding that Tracy McConnell is his love of his life but zoey damn well places in the top 5 heck I’d say she’s third. I get being in love with your job and sticking up for what you believe in but if Ted wasn’t so thick skulled, honestly I could’ve seen Ted and zoey getting married. This scene is one of my favorites.
