Wow, nearly 1.5 millions views! And for those who were wondering why I decided to not speak in the video and I did this "lazy writing", that's because I think speeking during the scenes destroy all the feeling. I am glad you liked it!
@@Platina_ first time watching this scene i didn't understand why they were so sad..then the second time as soon as she said "what mother would miss her daughter's wedding" i just..wow
I honestly thought he was crying because his mom died and therefore didn't get to see her son's wedding. But i suppose that was a lousy assumption as Ted's relationship with his mother wasn't as strong and close as shown in the series.
Yeeeees! Max was for Tracy like was Robin for Ted! I mean she loved Ted sure, and he loved her... They were similar, just perfect together but life isn't about how we can be with people who looks like us! Tracey joined max, her true love just as Ted go back with robin his true love! Everyone gots what he wants! Barney got a daughter too (his everything and his true love) ♥️
@@athena8030 yea i just thought of this too now that i rewatched it a second time. Max allowing tracy to move on from him when she gets proposed to is like Ted asking for his kids permission to go after robin. not a fan of the whole ted and robin thing but i guess this makes it make a bit more sense
@@athena8030 " Max was for the Tracy like was Robin for Ted!" you mean Tracy was for Ted was Max was for her. The one before meeting the next one (and robin)
I have always considered that one to be the most depressing episode ever Not sad, sad was when Marshalls found out his dad died Sad was when Barney's time stopped when she saw Robin arriving with someone else, or when he tried to take the basketball hoop No This is depressing You see everything fine, you thinking that maybe everything is fine but suddenly without warning you feel Alone Left behind Abandoned And hopelessly try to hold on to what made you happy, only to realize, it's just a mirage
@@_bre.nicole But there's a lot of talking about Marshall, Lily and Barney, even random extras, in present tense. He's talking about her like they all know that she's dead.
top 4 saddest moments in himym history - ted running to the mother's apartment to confess his love - ted and the mother talking about their daughter's wedding she won't be attending - barney coming into the bar just to see robin with kevin - marshall getting the news about his dad's death
But just knowing the show... Ted didn't real like robot vs wrestling... Barney wouldn't have been helping robin look for a caterer ( it would've been lily or ted) also if anything ted would've been upstairs with lily and Marshall with lil marvin... It's only one scene were ted is alone and that's the robin episode... So I think that this part was really was supposed to be for that episode but they couldn't fit it in and just made an episode about it
that scene always made me feel sad when i would watch it. it reminds me of very real fridays i had. i wanted to go hang with friends, party, but didn't have anyone to do that with. not that i didn't have any friends. Even on nights when I got exactly what i thought i wanted, i still felt unsatisfied.
I would've loved the ending if the mother still died, but Robin and Barney stayed married. It didnt feel right for Ted to go back to Robin after all of that time, and Barney and Robin separating makes the entire 9th season feel like a waste of time to watch.
IKR? All that character development, a whole season on their wedding went to trash. I loved their relationship and i never liked robin and ted thing. It felt so forced
Totally agree!! I think that the mom dying made sense and made it emotional, but Barney/Robin was built up almost as much as the mother, it was stupid to break them up. Plus Ted getting with Robin made the mom’s death feel like an excuse.
The problem is they filmed the stuff with the kids seasons ahead of time and had to write the other characters to fit the narrative they had already planned out so the characters ended up regressing into who they were when the finale was written around season 3
I never fully understood why Ted and Tracy both started to cry after Tracy said, 'What mother should miss her own daughter's wedding?', now I know, that is some incredible foreshadowing
so nobody remembers the episode when Lily bets Marshall that Ted and Robin won't end up together and Lily prompted Marshall to pay up to which he replied "Not yet."
in the final 2 episodes ( dont remember which one) one of the scenes shows marshall paying lily the 5 bucks. Its not really the focus of the scene but you can see marshall handing her 5 bucks. But in a deleted scene from the final episode after ted and robin get back together marshall gets paid lol
Things I wanted to see in this series -How Ted asks Tracy to go out on a date -how their all interests are similar -how they moved together -how Ted proposed her and give the new to others -how they give news that she's pregnant 1st and 2nd time -how the babies taken care of -how she was sick and taken care of -how they comfort Ted after she dies -and finally even after Ted goes to ask Robin for a date , he asks Tracy on his balcony that should he move on, and she gives a signal by a wave of wind
Pratheek i think i was better without all that, because leaves it up to us to imagine that perfect relationship, in our own way. Without all the inherent disilussions of actually the real relationship, so it can remain with that almost fairytail vibe of what we think our perfect match and relationship would look like.Besides, the show is called how i met your mother not how your mother and i lived together.
And also Marshall and Lily's second and third kid, what happened to them. What happened to Barney,is he a womanizer forever.I mean he gave advices to young women but what then?
@@pratheekbayari4255 I think he doesn't have a partner. His illegitimate daughter and he lives together but her mother is separate.Actually they made it vague Idk.But yeah what about Ellie?
The 3 scenes of himym that make me depressed 3. When Marshall's dad dies 2. In the episode where James meets his dad and barney realises how much his mom does for him 1. The scene where Ted imagines talking to tracy abt the 45 days
Weirdly, one of my depressed scene is when Barney is at the door of the cafe imagining meeting Nora's parents. Not the only one of course, but this one hit me hard
u guys didn't get it, ted talked about the wedding in a whole season because it was Robin's wedding and he was pissed and he felt like a year passed in this two days , he even said it was a very looong weekend which refers that he was still not getting over her
yeah i hated that. i hated the whole ted goes back to robin. robin should’ve stayed with barney, they were good for each other. ted had moved on and i feel it was insensitive to just kill the mother off like that. like i love the series and cry at the end every time but i just don’t like the ending.
It's not like everybody watched it with subtitles. And it's not like the lyrics they sang in that short preview was "She's dead. She's going to die. Bye-bye mother".
It could have easily been an idea just like Brendon Urie's "death of a bachelor" where death signifies the end of an era, only for a new one to start after, not like a literal death of the character that's being introduced. I mean that's not the only possible meaning that scene and soundtrack could have gone for, but okay.
Everytime. I know it's coming but nah, always tears and/or a sore throat.....same goes for Barney yelling at his "lame suburban dad". I always need 5 minutes of calm after those.
Yes, it's so heart breaking!!!! That Ted, the one who always believed love conquered all & who had been looking for "the one"... and all the while, Ted has his friends to talk to & be with while he was waiting for "the one", going to robots & wrestlers and other silly things like that. And then for him to be sitting at their bar, in their booth, all alone with tickets to something they all went to together, while his best friends are all happily spending time with their significant others (who are ALL his best friends, paired up with each other, including the woman he loves). It's really heart breaking.
One of the earliest foreshadowing moments for me is the episode where Lily and Marshall run a competition to see who will be Marvin's godparents. One of the questions they ask is how will the godparent tell Marvin about lily and Marshall's death. Ted says that he will use professor infosaurus, a dinosaur hand puppet, which will be a big hit with kids. The scene then cuts to "present day" where professor infosaurus pops up saying "isn't that right kids." For me, that's basically saying Ted used the professor to tell the kids about Tracy dying.
Honestly Tracy's ending wasn't horrible it was tragic but that can be a good thing. It's just the fact that he ended up with Robin that killed it for me.
Same. A perfect ending is one where Tracy dies, but Barney and Robin stay happily married. It makes it bittersweet and incredibly tragic, but in a heartfelt way
@@rosegoldberg2469 I also think it would have been great if Ted was dying and the mother hadn't died. That way it would explain why he chose to go into so much detail with his kids about his friends and maturing. It would be more on theme with the show anyway that keeps going back to the idea of life being about who you spend it with. The ending could have revealed that the show was really him telling them how he became the person that was ready to start a life with the mother in his formative years with his best friends.
exactly...that felt really off. I know they probably wanted the story to go full circle or perhaps from the start of the story they wanted robin to be the one who ended up with ted. But...after all the times of rejection and ted moving on and barney being perfect for robin shows development and then finally they flip the script for no reason at all and went all the way back to the beginning which was off.
Imagine being able to hype a character for so long, choosing an actress who fits perfectly for the part, introduce the super-hyped character and your audience actually loves her, something incredibly hard to do, and then... they threw it all away in 10 minutes.
@@nhlanhlashamase3453 I know the last season of Game of Thrones was really horrible, but people focus too much on it. The show had been on a steady decline since Season 5. Season 7 was just as horrible as Season 8. We should have seen it coming.
When I rewatch the series it seems obvious to me they wrote the ending way before and were probably forced to extend the show way to long so that ending made less and less sense over time.
Not 10. Just 3 minutes. Had they cut the screen to black in the finale when the camera pans to Ted and he says "that kids is how I met your mother" it would have been acceptable still.
@@adeelbabar4032 what truly ruins it is the fact that we get this EMOTIONAL story over how the gang grew as people, how ted and robin would never work and how he only truly can have a happy relationshio with tracy. Yet, as the previous comment said, they already planned the ending, but as time progressed and, with it, the characters as well, the ending as it was planned made less sense. Sure, sometimes not all stories are happy, but what truly ruins it is the fact that the kids just come to the conclusion that ted still loves robin and that they should be endgame. Which is also, imo, very creepy considering that he had a wonderful marriage with tracy
Not a clue to her death, but a neat little thing. In season 1, when Ted and barney go get dinner at the strip club, the stripper leans over and says her name is Tracy then Bob Sagat Ted says "and that's how I met your mother". That's hilarious in retrospect.
I watched the series again after I finnished it and was shocked when I heard that! I was so confused at how I never realised it. The kids wouldn't have been so shocked if her name wasn't Tracy!
@@quipgaming1790 Exactly! Its hilarious! Also, that means they've had shit pinned down since the very beginning and you can totally tell by how tight the continuity is.
@@cloud2537 They had to have it all down from the beginning because the kids never age - they always knew how it ended because they filmed all of their scenes at the start :)
It ruined barneys character development and robins change of heart in terms of unconditional love and the writers stuck with an ending they wrote during season 2 time and wanted to have the kids in the ending, they didn’t change it.
I don't see why it is so bad. Ted and Robin were never in the right place but they still loved each other. Barney and Robin still loved each other the same way Ted and Tracy did, they just grew together and then grew apart. It also kinda helped everyone get what they wanted. Sometimes two people are right for each other but it takes a while to get to the "right now" part.
Esspecially since they dragged out their wedding for an entire season, only so that the divorce can happen 5 minutes into the last episode. I mean, it's kinda like if they would make a sequel to Terminator 2, and John Connor gets killed right away... oh snap
The divorce felt inevitable just because of who the characters had proven themselves to be despite the final few season. Some people never change. But the timing was soooo fucked
@@Black_pearl_adrift I agree, but yeah, could have been executed way better. We got an entire season that centered around the wedding (which started to get really boring after just 2 episodes), and then they used the finale double episode to wrap up a ton of story.
The problem with HIMYM is the ending was decided in season 2. Years more character development were thrown aside to force an ending that no longer fit. We have watched Ted grow over years into someone who can let Robin go and Barney into someone who can move past his daddy issues and be monogamous. Then in the last five minutes of the show the writers chuck that out and turn them back into the characters they were in season 2. It’s the Jamie Lannister of endings.
They really did my boi Jaime dirty in the last season didn't they. He shouldda stayed with Brienne. That ending threw his character development ark in the bin.
Ngl I kinda see why he went back I mean the first time I watched it I kept thinking the fuck bro it’s your 10th time going back to robin even during their wedding
Throughout the whole thing, Ted continued to return to Robin because he hadn't moved on and Barney did end up being monogamous; even with Robin, he wasn't entirely, er, normal about stuff. I mean, he was monogamous, but he still kind of looked at other women and retained the Playbook. They didn't forget about the ending and force it in at the end; they'd built it around it and I think that it was perfect. Each to their own, though.
@@billyfox6368 I think they were making a point out of it. They didn't throw the character development ark away. They built on it. Showing that you're always going to be the person you where before. Bad explanation but I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
I always thought that "What kind of mother misses her daugther's wedding" was in reference to the fact that Ted's mother never made it to their wedding??
I remember when I first saw the scene, I was with my sister, I understood, I don't know how, but I did and she didn't and I started crying and she thought I was being dramatic, but I didn't want to ruin the ending so I didn't explain it to her.
I think that's intentional. When you don't know that's how you interpret it, but once you do it takes a different meaning. I could easily be wrong though.
it weird to think how the mothers first boyfriend died and she was heartbroken and couldnt move on until she found ted then she died and ted went back to robin
ONLY 6 years to move on? It would have been acceptable ending if Ted had just stayed single after the mother's death, I still prefer the mother not dying. If he really wanted to bone another chick then fine but not Robin. Such a big waste of character development. 'Letting Robin go' only an episode later boning her tf? This is simply bad writing and no excuse to defend it.
@@cepheus9856 well to be fair, they were still very young when tracy died. It would be weird if he didnt go back to looking for love and robin does make sense. They have such a history together. Doesnt mean i dont hate the ending though, i really loved tracy as a character because she was perfect for ted and it gives that worth the wait kind of feeling while robin is like the complete opposite. But still, with tracy dead robin is the only logical thing with how everything went
Craig Thomas and Carter Bays have since said that the alternate ending on the DVD is the REAL ending of How I Met Your Mother, I just wish that Bob Saget appeared on screen as Older Ted so his narration wrapped up properly
This show is a masterpiece. How to make a sitcom a life teacher. Things doesn't always go right, life is life. Enjoy it as it comes, don't live in the past. Make every moment legendary and then let it go.
I always love HIMYM. And I think the ending, if not to many fan's liking, actually shows that things don't always go as we plan, things don't always end in happy endings, or to our liking. So even though I would like Tracy to live, I understand that this story is about Ted's journey to maturity
Yeah I learned so much from it, Ive been in the same situation as Ted and Victoria and Marshall and Lily when they broke up and this kinda helped me go through it
You missed _one_ clue, a very subtle one. Well, it's a clue towards a clue, actually. The episode in which Tracy says "what mother wouldn't be at her daughter's wedding?" is named Vesuvius. Earlier in the season, Ted randomly says "Vesuvius". It is passed as a joke, but it was actually a way for the author to say "focus on the Vesuvius episode, it's the most important one". It is subtle, but it is there. That's how I knew the events of Vesuvius were important. Also, Vesuvius is a volcano, that by itself implies that there's something huge in that episode. It implies that something will shake the story, as a volcano.
Well, i simply thought that Ted cried in the second clip because his mother already passed away and didn't attend his wedding.. But... there's also clue in that scene, pay attention to all that glass of water.. What Tracy sip in that cup was water, and yet her expression was weird.. Hint: Taste changes is one of side effect of chemotherapy..
Oh god you're right how did I not pick up on that. Gosh that makes this scene that much more painful. That look that ted gived her when he is ready to break down. The delivery of their lines, the expressions.. Definitely one of my favourite moments of the entire show and it is a deleted scene. 😭
I must have watched this show with my late wife at least 10 times. It was one of our favorites. I turned her on to it and she ended up loving it more than me. The first time through was when we were planning our wedding and over the last 5 years, we would always come back to it. I never knew I would end up actually being in Ted’s shoes.
I’m sure she’s looking down on you for being the greatest husband any woman could ask for. I know you’re time together must have been LEGEN-wait-for-it-DARY. May she R.I.P. 🙏🏽❤️
The fact that no one picked up on the fact that Ted was telling this story to his kids in the first place as a giant, blinking, neon, clue that she died still amazes me.
Meh, I feel you but at the same time Ted is forever a sappy, hopeless romantic. I believe many of us believed that he was just super nostalgic and sentimental about their amazing love story. I also believe many partners tell stories about how they met their significant other. This is traditional, especially at weddings
If the wedding lasted half a season and the rest was about connecting to Tracy, losing her and dealing with her loss, they could have pulled that finale off. Hell, they could have spent at least an episode to show Robin coming back having learned from her past and connecting with Ted all over again
STAR WARS SPOILER ALERT: I find it odd that no one thought about the star wars correlation here. Ted wanted to name his kids Luke and Leia, in Star Wars, the mother dies.
After the 1:40 scene aired, i remember going on a forum and saying i believe the mother will die because of how Ted reacted. I was then downvoted into hell and everyone responded with "No way would the writers do something like that to us". * sigh *
No it doesn't. Think about why they broke up. Ted wanted kids, Robin wanted to put her career first. This happened right at the beginning of the show, and the middle of the show shows them both trying to pursue their 'primary' goals. They both got what they wanted most, and they came back to each other when they were ready for it.
I disagree. The whole point of the story (show) is to tell us about Robin so that we (and his kids) can love her the way he does. It's a tough pill to swallow because of the title of the show but going all the way back to episode one it was all about robin. He very deliberately told the story from the moment he met robin because that's the story were supposed to understand. I think one of the things the show does really well is that it doesn't shy away from the real moments and in reality things are messy. His relationship with robin was messy. As a viewer it's easy to see that and roll your eyes when they wound up together. But it makes perfect sense to me.
@@Flowers_in_my_heart I agree with you. The Finnish name of HIMYM is actually just "Ensisilmäyksellä" "at first sight" so basically "(love) at firs sight".
I forgot how much this show put me through an emotional trip, it was so funny but when they had emotional scenes I would feel my heart get heavy. This show is the true beauty of a comedy.
So true. I love how I have so many memories of laughing nonstop till my ribs hurt and also have the same amount of memories when it came to the pulled at your heartstrings scenes that left you in tears. Main one that comes to mind is when Lily tells Marshall his dad passed away. So much grief came over me during that scene and it caught me by surprise. Just goes to show how immersed you can be in a story and how much of a connection you can develop with the characters as they go through tough times in their lives.
The biggest foreshadowing to me is the fact that ted tells the story alone, even when he tells from the mother prospective, why couldn't she tell the story herself?
I am feeling so stupid for believing that the scene where Tracy said what kind of mother miss her daughter wedding was for Ted's mother for missing His and Tracy's wedding 😭
Another one: when Ted imagines what his life would be like if he had married stella you see 2 blonde kids sitting on the couch and stella coming up behind them interrupting the story. This implies that if the mother was still alive, she would be there to hear/interrupt the story too.
Bullshit The Mother could be everywhere maybe in a Trip With her Girlfriends and Ted uses The Chance to Tell The Kids His Side of The Story without being interrupted
no . think about it. it isnt that bad . its logical plus everyone has a happy ending. the writers are much more knowledged than you anyway. the had the ending decided by the 2nd season or so maybe
the problem is that they had the ending decided by season 2, that's why all characters suddenly look like how they were in season 2, like if all their character development from the passed 7 season is thrown out of the window
when Tracy died I felt for Ted, I really did, man. I lost my wife 7 years ago...this show is great and made me laugh and cry... And they are right about that special someone, you just know without a shadow of a doubt when you find that perfect someone. It hits you like a tidal wave and overwhelms you, but in a definite good wave.
Ending sucked balls. Tracy shouldn't have died. But even if she did, Ted and Robin shouldn't have been together and Barney and Robin should've never broken up.
The ending does not suck. I appreciate the fact that is a realistic ending and not an "happily ever after". It makes the series more deep and good, even sad for some reasons
I’d be fine with Ted and Robin, I always felt like they were the Ross and Rachel. They knew they belonged together, but had to live their own lives and follow their own dreams first. My issue was that they should have had season 9 be about Ted and Tarcy and 2 episodes about Barney’s wedding. Rather than an entire season building the wedding and 2 episodes with Ted and the Mum.
You need to make peace with the fact that Ted telling his story to his kids so many years after Tracy died was about him moving on and preparing them for it, not actually a himym
One more thing i noticed is that in the same episode as the "what mother misses her daughters wedding" quote Tracy also said to Ted that she doesnt want him to be the guy who lives in memories and that life moves on. Idk if thats just me but that seems like 100% foreshadowing.
I remember when I first saw the scene, I was with my sister, I understood, I don't know how, but I did and she didn't and I started crying and she thought I was being dramatic, but I didn't want to ruin the ending so I didn't explain it to her.
I have another one. When Ted wonders about how things would be if he had married Stella instead.... The kids and the house... It's all the same, except Stella walks into the scene and jokes with her kids and Ted. That's the difference. Because when Ted tells his story to his kids in the show, Tracy can't show up since she's already dead.
More foreshadowing I found: - The fact that Max, Tracy's first love, died. Since Ted and Tracy are like soulmates they share a similar fate with this. - S09E19: Tracy says to Ted: "Your the love of my life but I just worry about you. I don't want you to be the guy who lives in his stories. Life only moves forward." As you've mentioned in your video, Tracy knows she is dying at that time and she tells Ted to move on after that. Also the song at the end of that episode "She might think I've forgotten her" - S09E21: On their first date, Ted suddenly stops. Tracy asks what he is doing, Ted looks kinda sad and says: "Remembering this"
Also there was a scene where other kids from alternate future were sitting on the sofa and Stella came into the view, however, the mother wasn't even hinted at being around during scenes with Ted's real kids.
Plus in the flash forwards he always refers to her in past tense, not current tense like he does the others. Some say we don't see her (like Andy H. below) to not spoil who it is, but they could have easily show her from the back, or at an angle where you can't see the face, but they never do. There are so many (perhaps subtle then), but glaringly obvious hints that the mother has passed on by the time Ted is telling the story to his kids.
In one of the earlier seasons Ted, Barney, and Robin spend Thanksgiving at a strip club (Can't remember what the episodes called), and the end Ted meets a stripper named Tracy and jokingly says "And that is how I met your mother" causing his kids to go "WHAT?!" (like they do all the time), of course the only way they'd believe this is if their mothers name was Tracy. Not related to her death, just a hint that gave us her name before the finale
Not everyone believes in life after death and what not and people believe in different things too but from the bottom of my heart I’d like to believe that he met her on the other side and they ended up having a beautiful eternity together
Honestly it felt like ...Tracy was just a vessel so Ted could get married and have kids like he wanted, and Robin could get the kids experience without the responsibility like she wanted, then killed off the mother so they could be together. The whole show it was like "oh we're so different with different goals we'd never work" and then they gave them everything they both wanted just to end up together after all was said and done. A complex solution for a problem that should've just meant they never ended up together. Tracy was perfect.
Tracy shouldn't have died Even Lilly realized Ted never fell for a girl the way he fell for Tracy I think that For Tracy and for Ted, both Tracy's ex and Robin where that weird concept, the thing that is almost what you want, but not quite, and that's the point of that dialogue and the point of the whole story, how Ted tried to hold on to what was almost what he wanted, but not quite But sometimes I'm a pessimist and I feel like Tracy just settled for Ted
I read a lot of people claim that the story kept "proving" that Ted and Robin would never work together. They're so wrong. First, Ted and Robin were obviously the main couple of the series. They were Rachel and Ross (literally, they're a rip-off of those characters). Then, they kept falling in love with each other despite their issues. And more importantly, they made that deal that if they wound up alone in their 40s, they would marry each other. That was the main clue that they would wind up together when they would be old. Finally, characters, as persons, evolve. Things didn't work out when they were young because they had different goals. But Robin became more invested in her emotional life, and Ted got the kids Robin didn't want. So the story actually leads to Ted and Robin being together. It makes sense, really. The problem wasn't the end of the story, it was the way it was told. Too much time spent on Robin and Barney, and too litte time spent on the Mother.
He tought that robin was the love of is life. But that one guy said: "if you have to think about it, then she wasnt the one. Tracy was. She died and he grieved for 6 years before moving on.
Yess if I can watch any series for the first time it'll be HiMYM because friends can give the vibes again but HIMYM its not as good second time cuz you will know how things escalate
I think the ending would have been terrible if they hadn't found someone as perfect as Christine Milioti to play the mother. Some have said she was too good and made it difficult to accept the ending. I say her having that ability to make you love the character in such a short time really put the mother on equal footing with Robin. It made me feel like she wasn't just some plot device to pop out some kids for Ted so Robin didn't have to, and then go away. Tracy being so 3 dimensional made me feel like she and Ted had a real life together and deep love. They didn't get much time together, but we're never promised that. Later on, it ended up that the timing was finally right for Ted and Robin. Ted had never stopped loving her, but that didn't mean he loved the mother any less. It's just that life only moves forward, as Tracy herself said. And often we fall in love with more than one person over the course of it.
The music they chose for the show always fits SO well. Not only is the music timed and executed perfectly, they songs are so good even just by themselves.
This show holds a special place in my heart. This show made me cry, laugh, and cry laughing. This is definitely one of the best shows out there. Also, I loved the ending so that's a plus for me.
I remembered when I watch that "what mother would miss his daughter's wedding" scene, I cried so much even though I had no idea beforehand that's the mother would actually die. The way Ted looks at her just give it away.
My "holy crap this is my wedding" moment was when my dad and i were walking up the stairs towards the sanctuary as my bridesmaids were walking down the isle. I stopped and said "my whole life is about to drastically change" and my dad squeezed my arm and said "for the better"
So many others: 1. In one episode in the earlier seasons, Ted & Lily & Marshall are at their college reunion & they're getting high & Ted laughs asking "where's my wife?" 2. In the same episode where they're discussing "What mother would miss her daughter's wedding?" Tracy also tells Ted that she's worried about him, that she doesn't want him to live in his stories, "life only moves forward". 3. And also in that episode, Ted says, talking about his move to Chicago & how the group reacted to the news: "In a moment like that, when what's really happening is too intense to deal with, sometimes it's best", to which Tracy says "To leave it unspoken and just enjoy each others company instead." and they look at each other & hold hands. 4. This one is slightly weaker, but still. When Ted gets left at the alter by Stela, he talks about what would have happened if he went & talked to Tony instead of Stella. And there's a 'simulation' of what his life would have been, and he's talking to his (now blonde) kids and Stella appears immediately in the scene, something that never happens in 9 full seasons with Tracy.
There is also an episode, i don’t remember which one but Ted is talking about how Zoey ruined crossword day and there’s an image of a newspaper and in the corner it says something like “no one is safe; not even the mother”
I just looked it up... it’s S06E08 Right at the beginning. The Article is about the Cacamouse. And it says in big letters: No one is save not even your mother This just blew my mind! Also: Article on the left is about DOWISETREPLA. This is something I really love about HIMYM - the Details!
4:37 to 4:52 might be the most heartwrenching moment in television the way his expression slowly changes without further context, just a hint of what's happening... he's a great actor
I love this show but i hate the ending. Here's what I think shouldve happened. Robin and Barney should've stayed married not just because the entire season 9 would be a waste but because to show how they've matured and really did love each other compared to their relationship before. Maybe even adopt a few kids or smt. Ted in the end shouldve just given his kids a hug and cried a little or smt but never got remarried or went after another woman. It would make the best bittersweet ending in my opnion.
To be honest I hated the ending. The last couple seasons they really made Robin into this pyschopath who kept switching and playing her partners. It was also really unfair to Ted to have the girl he was waiting for so long pass away. I think they did that because there was still a group wanting Ted and Robin to end up together and they decided to take the middle way. The whole series was great but the ending was a total bummer to me
The music selection throughout this entire series is impeccable, the ‘Lebenslangerschicksalsschatz’ scene gives me goosebumps every time i watch it. Same goes for the scene where Ted gets upset when Tracy says “what mother is going to miss her daughters wedding” with Bob Dylan playing, absolutely perfect. This show has affected me more than i ever thought possible. (I hope I got the affected/effected right for teds sake)
That moment when Barney tells Ted that it was all a memory... man I cry every time ... about how everyone is growing up and has their own lives and then about how emotional Ted gets imagining he’s running to meet his dead wife
You forgot about season 4. Ted told his kids if stella and him ended up together. The kids were blonde and different then suddenly stella walked in and talked to the kids as well. Tracy never did that for 9 years.
Pepe his eyes were so tearful. Not happy tears but extreme sadness. He wouldn't react that way if she was still around. And the whole "more x seconds" with her just sealed her fate
DementorsKiss I mean a man would say that about the woman he loves no matter what the circumstances, because those would be seconds that he would get to spend with her that would be completely unique and special no matter where they were in the present. That's how much each second you spend with that person is worth
Pepe The scene Tracy told him to move on and that was what Tracy wanted for Ted. And to do so, he needed to wait for 6 years to ask his kids permission.
I dont think wanting more time with the person you love the most means that person is already gone. If I somehow found out who I was going to marry I'd get to that person as soon as possible.
He says he wish he could spend those extra 45 days with her, if she was still around they'd still be spending their time together so those extra days wouldn't really mean so much if she was still around.
So, that second one where she says “what mother is going to miss her daughter’s wedding?” I originally took it as the MOTHER’S mom not showing up to her and Ted’s wedding, and Ted still feeling sad for her because of that. Not that the mother herself was going to die.
Is it only me who can watch all seasons and all episodes million times, but is really really afraid to click the play sign for the last and final two episodes? :( :( I don´t even have the word how I feel when I´m near the last episodes....
It's not just the death of the mother but everything. Their apartment is empty, they move apart, Lilly cries hard as Robin pretty much ends their friendship (they are also showing at the wedding how much Lilly wanted Robin to be a part of the gang because she loves her so much), Barney is alone except for his doughter and doesnt date anymore because he knows he will love noone as much as he loved Robin, the mother dies and the ending gave me the feeling that Ted spend his whole life with the wrong woman. You should look for the deleted scene with Marshall and the bet he won, it's sweetening the ending
Just finished watching the show today for the first time, I feel lost, I always wanted Robin to be their mother, but after I met Tracy, I loved her and was very happy that she was their mother, she was everything Ted wanted, and it was really sad that she died and seeing all this stuff adding up, it breaks my heart. After getting to know Tracy I didn't think about Robin being Ted's wife anymore. Tracy was THAT good for me. Really an emotional show.
justo molet Inlike tonthink it this way Ted look for Tracy during all the seasons but he could only find her after letting go of Robin for real this time because even if the timing and their goals in life werent the same she was his almost perfect and he loved her and never thought he could find anyone better for him he really look without hoping to find some better for him and is in this train station that he realizes that Robin is not his long life treasure she is the almost perfect and after he finds Tracy he loved her and marry her and have a family and his happy and he would nhave stay with her until the end of times but then she dies and he needs some years to grief the woman he lose his perfect match but then after he has process this his asking his kids if he can gonback to his almost perfect because he knows Robin is the only one he can be with after Tracy she is his almost perfect now remember in this moment Robin has achieve proffesional success and Ted has his kids the obstaclues for them are gone they got chemistry and finally the timing is rigth because remember timing is a bitch
The ending pisses me off so much. Everyone loved Tracy. I used to ship Ted and Robin so much until she married Barney and we met the mom. I was so mad that the mom died and he ended up with Robin to the point that I don’t even really like Robin anymore. This was the story about the yellow umbrella, not the blue French horn. I’m always gonna be salty about this...
This would have been true only if the mother had been alive, Tracy is always Ted's first choice, she is his soul mate, it is clearly explained in the speech with Klaus. Robin is a consolation prize
That's that makes no sense! I always wondered: if poor Tracy hadn't died, are we sure that Ted would not have broken up with her eventually, to be with Robin?
@@silviabeatricevaretto9449 how can you guys see all these scenes and still think that Ted didn't truly love the mother? He loved her a lot, that's why he told all that story, but he is allowed to move on
Ted has worst luck, can't get his love of life. friend gets his love of life and friend marries her. then he finds another love of life and she dies after amazing years together. I don't blame fans for wanting a better ending.
I cried the first time i watched the "what kind of mom misses her daughter's wedding day?" scene. A little bit over a year later i cried my eyes out. Again. I'm not okay.
Vikitube J because they both know tracy’s going to die and so miss her daughter’s wedding. so when she says ”what kinda mom would miss her daughter’s wedding?” (talking about robin’s mom) ted gets uncontrollably sad knowing tracy’s going to miss her daughters wedding even though she’s a great mother
I don't think i will ever show that because when Marshall's dad died and they show the funeral and it is very emotional. If they show the funeral of the mother viewers would flip out due to a short presence of the mother, and all 9 season we only get to see her in like 5 or 6 eps.
There’s a seen early in season 9, where ted is describing to Tracy how he was doing his crossword and said I will come back here with you. The word ted yells while doing the crossword is Vesuvius. Vesuvius is the title of the episode where “what kind of mom misses her daughters wedding” happens
But them visiting in Vesuvius was like the Third (fourth?) time they went back to Farhampton. 1. One year later 2. Getting engaged 3. Luke being born 4. 2024, Tracy is dying
I don't refuse. I am glad the bitch is dead. Wish Lili was dead too. Or be replaced for actress who plays Donna in Suits, that woman is awesome and show would have been even better.
This show had the best way of portraying the feeling of emptiness and that 'hole' in the chest you feel, the tightening of the throat which gets you when watching certain scenes. The scene with Klaus is so simple but so,so well done. And the first scene of this video..by far the most crushing scene of the show. They had the best music, and they hit home with some scenes. Best show ever.
I think people hate on the ending not because it was bad. But because it was such a gut punch that people didn't know for to react and just decided to hate it. It really was shocking. But with that being said. It was kind of stupid to have all this happen with Ted and Robin and finally trek everyone its not her. Then go and kill the real Mother and have him end up with Robin anyways. They should've ended it right after he says, "Kids, and that is how I met your mother." Not have the story end just to have the kids telling Ted to call Robin. Hearing Bob Saget as Old Ted, but sunny the task Old Ted threw me off the ending also.
Gianni Brown I don't mind that they killed of the mother, but ending was too goofy. It should've ended with "that's how i met your mother", not with "you totally have the hots for aunt Robin"
The "I don't want you to be the guy who lives in stories" scene makes me cry for like 20 minutes the first time I saw it. Probably because the whole show is based on Ted telling past stories. It almost felt like that scene isn't real, or Ted altered his memory (which is not an uncommon thing in this show). It felt like Tracy came back and tell him that he needs to move on. That why I don't feel that upset about the ending. This whole show is meant to be a tragedy.
There's one more scene, when Ted, Lily and Marshall were eating sandwiches at their 50 years uni reunion or something, Ted laughed and said "where's my wife?'. I think it's s3e5
The writers had the "kids" film the final scene during the 2nd season and had to sign confidentiality agreements to not reveal the ending. It was planned from the very beginning. The 50 years is probably referring to a possible 2nd wife.
yeah I think that more just a stupid joke that they can't show the mother yet and Ted makes fun of that. Kinda 4th wall breaking, but I don't see it as a hint, because he said it laughing
Its been awhile since i watched that but if I remember correctly it was just a joke from the father to the kids as a way of saying he wont get married, but he was high so his reasoning for it could be laughing off his sadness
I'm currently rewatching HIMYM for the third time and I never understood the first "foreshadowning-moment" in this video before. Now I understand, thank you. (especially now that I understand it) It's one of the best and most beautiful moments in the whole show.
Wow, nearly 1.5 millions views!
And for those who were wondering why I decided to not speak in the video and I did this "lazy writing", that's because I think speeking during the scenes destroy all the feeling.

Another hint : when Ted talks to Tracy about the 45 days, it's the same song playing in the background as when Tracy talks to her dead boyfriend Max.
Yeeeees! Max was for Tracy like was Robin for Ted!
I mean she loved Ted sure, and he loved her... They were similar, just perfect together but life isn't about how we can be with people who looks like us! This scene is my actual life...
I have always considered that one to be the most depressing episode ever
Not sad, sad was when Marshalls found out his dad died
Sad was when Barney's time stopped when she saw Robin arriving with someone else, or when he tried to take the basketball hoop

This is depressing

Ted never refers to the mother in the present tense.
But that's because the show is about the past.
@@_bre.nicole But there's a lot of talking about Marshall, Lily and Barney, even random extras, in present tense. He's talking about her like they all know that she's dead.
Tage Lingåker What do you mean? Of course they know she’s dead, but I’m a bit confused on who you’re referring to.
Jack Heris That’s because the mom is dead.

Didn't work for me. Imagine a totally random guy showing up to your door and saying that. You wouldn't think oh how romantic. I hope.
smurfyday But it was his imagination. It’s what he wanted to do, what he wanted to say. It didn’t actually happen.

top 4 saddest moments in himym history
- ted running to the mother's apartment to confess his love
- ted and the mother talking about their daughter's wedding she won't be attending
- barney coming into the bar just to see robin with kevin
- marshall getting the news about his dad's death
What about robin telling her kids the story about how she can't have kids?
I really felt sorry for Barney then
100% agree
Don't forget "a kid needs a hoop"!
Suburban dad talk hitted me so bad back then
I know Ted is talking to himself when he says look around Ted you're all alone. But that shit hurted. This first scene hurted a lot.
_hurted_
I knowww
@@joshuabuswell9481 Welcome to the world of introvertion or/and depression.
Lmao that makes no sense.

Things I wanted to see in this series
-How Ted asks Tracy to go out on a date
-how their all interests are similar
-how they moved together
-how Ted proposed her and give the new to others
-how they give news that she's pregnant 1st and 2nd time
-how the babies taken care of
-how she was sick and taken care of
-how they comfort Ted after she dies
-and finally even after Ted goes to ask Robin for a date , he asks Tracy on his balcony that should he move on, and she gives a signal by a wave of wind

Yep. My biggest issue with the last season
what a great plot twist, and also predictable.
u guys didn't get it, ted talked about the wedding in a whole season because it was Robin's wedding and he was pissed and he felt like a year passed in this two days , he even said it was a very looong weekend which refers that he was still not getting over her
Man, that's life. I mean, it's more real, not everything has to end perfect like in disney movies

Wow the song she got introduced to is called “the funeral” and yet no one saw it coming
But no other song could capture the mood
I got distracted by how good the song is.
It's not like everybody watched it with subtitles. And it's not like the lyrics they sang in that short preview was "She's dead. She's going to die. Bye-bye mother".
I'd wager because almost no one who watched the episode knew the title of the song.
It could have easily been an idea just like Brendon Urie's "death of a bachelor" where death signifies the end of an era, only for a new one to start after, not like a literal death of the character that's being introduced. I mean that's not the only possible meaning that scene and soundtrack could have gone for, but okay.
“Look around Ted. You’re all alone”
God... that & the 45 days speech will forever break me down...
It's really heart breaking.
and some people hated Barney for it lol
Barney wasn't even really on the screen its just Ted's mind
its like a thriller/drama crossover scene.
Exactly. I kinda suspected since the beginning that the Mother was dead (I don't know why, tho) but that moment definitely confirmed it to me.
I think that was just a joke, that with this twisted perspective may match
How did I not notice

Still better than game of thrones final season
The sad thing about HIMYM isn't watching it all enfold. The sad thing is watching it a second time when the puzzle pieces finally fall into place.
Not a clue to her death, but a neat little thing. In season 1, when Ted and barney go get dinner at the strip club, the stripper leans over and says her name is Tracy then Bob Sagat Ted says "and that's how I met your mother". That's hilarious in retrospect.

Very true I’ve pointed this moment out to so many friends a cool little details
I’m just happy mostly everyone agrees that Barney & Robin shouldve never gotten a divorce
Pedro Marques You dumb as hell 😂😂
LMAO
This is literally what I thought as well. Do I need to watch season 9 again?
I remember when I first saw the scene, I was with my sister, I understood, I don't know how, but I did and she didn't and I started crying and she thought I was being dramatic, but I didn't want to ruin the ending so I didn't explain it to her.
I think that's intentional. When you don't know that's how you interpret it, but once you do it takes a different meaning. I could easily be wrong though.
Omg that’s what I thought too when I first watched the episode!
it weird to think how the mothers first boyfriend died and she was heartbroken and couldnt move on until she found ted then she died and ted went back to robin
It took 6 years though
Beautiful, beautiful 👏
I fall deeper in love with this show after every rewatching.
I always love HIMYM. And I think the ending, if not to many fan's liking, actually shows that things don't always go as we plan, things don't always end in happy endings, or to our liking. So even though I would like Tracy to live, I understand that this story is about Ted's journey to maturity
@@rehanaisnin2365 yes thank you I fucking love the ending
This needs to get voted up and up.
Episode 2, of Season 9....Ted is doing a crossword puzzle and the answer is (not) Vesuvius; the Mother talks about his "showboating".
I always thought it was a kinda weird title for an episode and I had wondered what was its relevance in that particular episode. At least now I know
when I first saw that i thought Ted's mum died
Ted and robin gave each other a promise. If they will be 40 and single ...
I was looking for that comment... :/
Oh god you're right how did I not pick up on that. Gosh that makes this scene that much more painful. That look that ted gived her when he is ready to break down. The delivery of their lines, the expressions.. Definitely one of my favourite moments of the entire show and it is a deleted scene. 😭
I taught it was a tear in her cup
I always thought it was Tracy’s mom who died because obviously who’s mom won’t attend there “daughters” wedding
I always thought it was Tracy’s mom who died because obviously who’s mom won’t attend there “daughters” wedding
I must have watched this show with my late wife at least 10 times. It was one of our favorites. I turned her on to it and she ended up loving it more than me. The first time through was when we were planning our wedding and over the last 5 years, we would always come back to it. I never knew I would end up actually being in Ted’s shoes.
Oh man. I feel for you.
I’m sure she’s looking down on you for being the greatest husband any woman could ask for.
I know you’re time together must have been LEGEN-wait-for-it-DARY.

I’m sorry to hear this. I loved the show and found the ending sad but now I find it Sadder as I’m now a daughter who’s mom won’t be at my wedding
As someone who just got married after 6 years of dating my wife im genuinely sorry
The fact that no one picked up on the fact that Ted was telling this story to his kids in the first place as a giant, blinking, neon, clue that she died still amazes me.
Reading your comment gave me the greatest epiphany, you're so right 😂
Meh, I feel you but at the same time Ted is forever a sappy, hopeless romantic. I believe many of us believed that he was just super nostalgic and sentimental about their amazing love story. I also believe many partners tell stories about how they met their significant other. This is traditional, especially at weddings
Also, there’s a scene in Season 2 where Ted expresses to his parents that when he tells his kids about how they met, he will tell them everythiiiing.
You must be a detective. 👍
Nichole P. Yup, i dont see anything weird with explaining your kids how their parents met and ted has always been the one who loves storytelling.
6:42 one of the coolest transitions of all time. The music kicks off , the scene shifts, the rain, the thunder !!!!! So well planned..
I was waiting for a comment like this 😂 perfect transition
Should have 1 dedicated season for the mother. We've waited many years and she was only shown for 1 season with limited screen time.
Their daughter's name is Penny and both of them are huge coin fans :)
@@nunungo9788 I know, I didn't say it wasn't. But Ted did want to name his kids Luke and Leia

Ah now THAT explains the deeper voice when narrating.
Whoa spi you blew my mind
After the 1:40 scene aired, i remember going on a forum and saying i believe the mother will die because of how Ted reacted.
I was then downvoted into hell and everyone responded with "No way would the writers do something like that to us".

Lucky_Sevin yeah
Making Ted and Robin get together again is ruining ALL the progress and character development.
Exactly! I felt so proud of barney when he finally fell in love for once

It's a tragyromcom; laughter through the tears!
This show got me through my parents divorce and really helped me learn about life
The biggest foreshadowing to me is the fact that ted tells the story alone, even when he tells from the mother prospective, why couldn't she tell the story herself?
Ohh, yeah, never thought about that, ig it all makes sense, the ending is not baad after all
Here after rewatching, the ending isn't bad except the Robin part

Another one: when Ted imagines what his life would be like if he had married stella you see 2 blonde kids sitting on the couch and stella coming up behind them interrupting the story. This implies that if the mother was still alive, she would be there to hear/interrupt the story too.

Ending sucked balls. Tracy shouldn't have died. But even if she did, Ted and Robin shouldn't have been together and Barney and Robin should've never broken up.
I think there’s a bigger story to tell than your classic fairy tale ending... just something to think about
The ending does not suck.
I hate swarkles
One more thing i noticed is that in the same episode as the "what mother misses her daughters wedding" quote Tracy also said to Ted that she doesnt want him to be the guy who lives in memories and that life moves on. Idk if thats just me but that seems like 100% foreshadowing.
I caught that too.
I remember when I first saw the scene, I was with my sister, I understood, I don't know how, but I did and she didn't and I started crying and she thought I was being dramatic, but I didn't want to ruin the ending so I didn't explain it to her.
@@lascaanito oof yeah thats rough
I have another one.
When Ted wonders about how things would be if he had married Stella instead.... The kids and the house... It's all the same, except Stella walks into the scene and jokes with her kids and Ted.
That's the difference. Because when Ted tells his story to his kids in the show, Tracy can't show up since she's already dead.
I though of this as well
Which episode is this ??
More foreshadowing I found:
- The fact that Max, Tracy's first love, died.
Also the song at the end of that episode "She might think I've forgotten her"
- S09E21: On their first date, Ted suddenly stops. Tracy asks what he is doing, Ted looks kinda sad and says: "Remembering this"
Also there was a scene where other kids from alternate future were sitting on the sofa and Stella came into the view, however, the mother wasn't even hinted at being around during scenes with Ted's real kids.
The College Reunion was in 2020 But she died in 2024

We never see the mother in any of the flash forwards.
Andy H. Hate to do this......
Barney is the mother
He does mention her though at their college reunion when Ted marshal and lily get high, and he asks " where's my wife?"
Nataly Ramirez oh that sounds so sad in hindsight..
But that would have also revealed who she was. It's quite clever!

@@criscabrera9098 i mean, in the HIMYM universe 2 things are cannon:
1, Time travel (Marshal)
2, Afterlife (The mother dead boyfriend)
Honestly it felt like ...Tracy was just a vessel so Ted could get married and have kids like he wanted, and Robin could get the kids experience without the responsibility like she wanted, then killed off the mother so they could be together.
The whole show it was like "oh we're so different with different goals we'd never work" and then they gave them everything they both wanted just to end up together after all was said and done. A complex solution for a problem that should've just meant they never ended up together.
Tracy was perfect.
Brooke Wilson 🤭🤯
Tracy was perfect. Life isn't.
Tracy shouldn't have died
Even Lilly realized Ted never fell for a girl the way he fell for Tracy
I think that
For Tracy and for Ted, both Tracy's ex and Robin where that weird concept, the thing that is almost what you want, but not quite, and that's the point of that dialogue and the point of the whole story, how Ted tried to hold on to what was almost what he wanted, but not quite
But sometimes I'm a pessimist and I feel like Tracy just settled for Ted

How did I not notice the “what mother will miss her daughters wedding” one!
When I watched it for the first time I thought that maybe for some reason Tracy's mother missed her and Ted's wedding...
At first I thought they were referring to ted’s or tracy’s mom who was not able to attend their wedding.. gosh floodgates
When i heard it I thought Ted's mom missed he's wedding not Tracy missing her daughters wedding
That’s adorable 💝
TH-cam putting this in my recommendations: you wanna cry tonight?
Me: sure, why not
So many others:
1. In one episode in the earlier seasons, Ted & Lily & Marshall are at their college reunion & they're getting high & Ted laughs asking "where's my wife?"
But wasn't the reunion in 2020, 4 years before the mother died?
@@anonym5898 yeah it was, but it's still more of a foreshadowing, kinda like the second scene shown in this video

I don´t even have the word how I feel when I´m near the last episodes....
apil bista holy fuck i relate to this comment so hard i didn’t know anyone else felt this way!
@@taryn3917 right right...thankgod there is atleast two of us who feels the same way! ;)
You should look for the deleted scene with Marshall and the bet he won, it's sweetening the ending
apil bista I do the same thing. I watch up until they meet or maybe just until the wedding. It becomes difficult to watch the ending
Taryn .... you.... you have a very very small mindset....
I finished yesterday, what a coincidence lol.
justo molet Inlike tonthink it this way Ted look for Tracy during all the seasons but he could only find her after letting go of Robin for real this time because even if the timing and their goals in life werent the same she was his almost perfect and he loved her and never thought he could find anyone better for him he really look without hoping to find some better for him and is in this train station that he realizes that Robin is not his long life treasure she is the almost perfect and after he finds Tracy he loved her and marry her and have a family and his happy and he would nhave stay with her until the end of times but then she dies and he needs some years to grief the woman he lose his perfect match but then after he has process this his asking his kids if he can gonback to his almost perfect because he knows Robin is the only one he can be with after Tracy she is his almost perfect now remember in this moment Robin has achieve proffesional success and Ted has his kids the obstaclues for them are gone they got chemistry and finally the timing is rigth because remember timing is a bitch
I just finshed it today. God so many emotions. I'm really sad that i have no more episodes to watch.
I’m always gonna be salty about this...
agreed
That's why the shows amazing we all knew Ted loved robin
same.
Yep. Same.
L
The ending just shows how right Victoria was even the mother couldn't get Ted over his obsession of Robin
This would have been true only if the mother had been alive, Tracy is always Ted's first choice, she is his soul mate, it is clearly explained in the speech with Klaus. Robin is a consolation prize
He isn't even obsessed with Robin in the future, he's just in love with her
That's that makes no sense! I always wondered: if poor Tracy hadn't died, are we sure that Ted would not have broken up with her eventually, to be with Robin?
@@silviabeatricevaretto9449 how can you guys see all these scenes and still think that Ted didn't truly love the mother? He loved her a lot, that's why he told all that story, but he is allowed to move on
The first scene made me cry as soon as Barney said you’re all alone
"You're All Alone" is also the name of the song that was playing during that scene
Ted has worst luck, can't get his love of life. friend gets his love of life and friend marries her. then he finds another love of life and she dies after amazing years together. I don't blame fans for wanting a better ending.
Life is way we can not see! Everthing happends everyday...Not all has a happy ending
I cried the first time i watched the "what kind of mom misses her daughter's wedding day?" scene.
A little bit over a year later i cried my eyes out. Again. I'm not okay.
But i dont understand why hes crying il just stupid but i really dont get it what makes him cry?
Vikitube J because they both know tracy’s going to die and so miss her daughter’s wedding. so when she says ”what kinda mom would miss her daughter’s wedding?” (talking about robin’s mom) ted gets uncontrollably sad knowing tracy’s going to miss her daughters wedding even though she’s a great mother
saying hi to everyone in the year 2024, this is the year The Mother died.
i feel these scenes so much deeper now than 10 years ago.
The lily actress already told us that there was even a funeral scene that got cut.
Where did she say that, i wanna see it
I read it in google
She said it in a tmz video, i forgot the title but it's about she feels about the ending of the show
They should have definitely made a funeral scene with the group coming would have make so much sense
Vesuvius is the title of the episode where “what kind of mom misses her daughters wedding” happens
omg
But them visiting in Vesuvius was like the Third (fourth?) time they went back to Farhampton.
1. One year later
2. Getting engaged
3. Luke being born
4. 2024, Tracy is dying
I knew it when Ted's in tears about that extra 45 days. But i don't want it to be that way,I refused it to be true. But then again, don't we all?
Grumpy Doctor let it go doctor 😄
Mattis me too
You know they released an official alternate ending where she doesn't die right? The first ending pissed everyone off.
I'm still in denial about that last episode xD
I don't refuse. I am glad the bitch is dead. Wish Lili was dead too. Or be replaced for actress who plays Donna in Suits, that woman is awesome and show would have been even better.
This show had the best way of portraying the feeling of emptiness and that 'hole' in the chest you feel, the tightening of the throat which gets you when watching certain scenes. The scene with Klaus is so simple but so,so well done. And the first scene of this video..by far the most crushing scene of the show.
They had the best music, and they hit home with some scenes. Best show ever.
the first scene was so emotional i cant-
I don't care what anyone says.
This will always be my fav show
Because it is the best... its not a series you can just watch.. you gotta feel it lol
Same
I think people hate on the ending not because it was bad.
They should've ended it right after he says, "Kids, and that is how I met your mother."
Not have the story end just to have the kids telling Ted to call Robin. Hearing Bob Saget as Old Ted, but sunny the task Old Ted threw me off the ending also.
Same. I've watched many great shows like Bojack, Futurama, The 100, Stranger Things, etc but nothing will ever come close to this
Gianni Brown I don't mind that they killed of the mother, but ending was too goofy. It should've ended with "that's how i met your mother", not with "you totally have the hots for aunt Robin"
I know its a sitcom but still breaks my heart
this show is - and always will be - more than a sitcom imo
Same I'm in tears
Tracy's death is actually the definition of "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened"
Ala Tracy asking Max to move on?
I felt the same way. But I really wanted a happy ending. I mean Ted and Robin is a story in his past too. He should've moved on... Tracy and Ted :')
There's one more scene, when Ted, Lily and Marshall were eating sandwiches at their 50 years uni reunion or something, Ted laughed and said "where's my wife?'. I think it's s3e5
i think that the writers still did'nt plan on killing the mother at that time
The writers had the "kids" film the final scene during the 2nd season and had to sign confidentiality agreements to not reveal the ending.
I'm pretty sure that reunion took place in 2020 so the mother hadn't died yet. I could be wrong though.
Why tf is this on my recommended?! I didn’t wanna go down this feels trip
I'm currently rewatching HIMYM for the third time and I never understood the first "foreshadowning-moment" in this video before. Now I understand, thank you. (especially now that I understand it) It's one of the best and most beautiful moments in the whole show.
