Oh yeah you should have known that by the black female protagonist alone. The smallest demographic in gaming, and they keep vastly overrepresenting black females in games. I've lived in Baltimore for 40 years, and I have never met a black female gamer

This game looked super mid anyways. I bet they front load all that "intractability" and "choice" the previewers got to play, but rest of the game is nothing like that. Kinda like how Dragon Age Failguard let the previewers play the "darkest" sections of the entire game in order to scam people into thinking the tone wasn't Fortnite.

The issue isn't that it's "pronouns in the wrong setting." The inaccurate reengineering of pronouns is wrong in ANY setting. We use "they/them" in English to mean plural or when it's not clear what sex the referenced person is. Pronouns are not used to establish which sex people have. They weren't invented in order to insult the Left or Right politically. They're used because that's how language works, that's how English works, and as pronouns stand in the various languages that employ them, they assist in communication. In English they just make referentiality slightly more precise by acknowledging the sex of someone- i.e., so people know who you're talking about- in the course of addressing some other reality than people's sex. If you yell, "Save them!" regarding a young girl teetering on the edge of a cliff, and someone mistakes your yell as referring to a crowd somewhere and thus end up letting the person fall off the cliff, your misuse of pronouns just cost a life needlessly. Why not just yell, "Save her!" instead? Fuck whatever way the girl "prefers" to be "gendered." No one cares when a life is on the line or when simple communication is being made... To insist that pronouns be used inaccurately- referring to an individual w the plural when their sex is known or insisting others refer to someone as the opposite sex that they are- is simply asinine. It's disruptive. It's sociopathic. I mean, slang is what it is: a deliberate misuse of language. But it's not official. No one threatens your job for using the word "good" instead of "phat". But this attempt to make legal the reengineering of pronouns to now have everyone constantly unable to simply use pronouns as they were intended is utterly stupid. "Misuse English or you're cancelled!" This tendency forced into gaming language is AT BEST tolerable if restricted to, say, the CC. Tolerable, mind you- not benign. It's poison which- watered down by game quality- may not affect the game experience particularly much, but that doesn't make it OK. It's like a shove that's not followed by further taunting... Elon is absolutely wrong. Fantasy is for escapism and for Roleplaying Game that has character customization it means being able to be who you want to be. The ability to choose pronouns is important because it tells how game should address your character, just as choosing male or female in older games did.
