  • This summer 2022, I finally had Double Jaw Surgery! I vlogged my experience to share with you guys as I found watching videos super helpful pre-surgery. However, there were very little videos about those who had got the surgery done within UK so I hope this helps someone!

    *Also in the video I meant PCA = patient controlled analgesic, not PAC!!
    Disclaimer: This was my experience, remember that everyone reacts and deals with trauma and events like this differently. It’s important to do what’s best for you and your body

    Hi Amy, just wondering why did you decide to do jaw surgery? Also was your breathing and eating quite uncomfortable/ painful after the surgery?

    • @AmyChenYT
      @AmyChenYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I decided to get the surgery done as I couldn’t bite well and it was wearing down some of my teeth. Breathing was uncomfortable for the first 2-3 nights as it affected my sleep! Eating (drinking) was fine, it was just difficult not to dribble the liquid back out.

    Hi did you get surgery on the nhs or privately? If so how did you get the referrals how long did it take from when you saw a GP or Dentist about the surgery? Im looking to try and go private ortho for referral to a maxfax in the nhs. If you have nay advice that would be appreciated. Thanks for the videos

    • @AmyChenYT
      @AmyChenYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for the comment, I gratefully got mine on the NHS. First saw the orthodontist nearly 10 years ago now and was referred to the hospital in 2015 where the mention of jaw surgery first occurred. So from referral and the prolonged wait due to covid, it took 7 years to finally be ready for surgery. Hope that answers everything!

    I'm currently on braces and I think I may have 1 or 2 more appointments with my braces before I finally meet my surgeon and discuss the surgery. I'm worried about the waiting times bc I don't want to put uni on hold 😭

    • @cheeseboogar
      @cheeseboogar 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have an underbite and tbh I have zero issues at all like breathing, chewing, sleeping etc, and my underbite is not that obvious but my side profile is a lil ugly. But since my underbite is not severe I'm worried I'll be put far back the waiting list or they might tell me that if I want to go through with the surgery I would have to do it private (I don't know if that's ever happened with anyone).
      Tbh I have no idea why I'm even getting free treatment considering I have zero health issues apart from aesthetics lol. I got referred to the orthodontist when I was 12/13 by my dentist, told that I would have surgery when I'm 18 and started my braces at 15. I haven't questioned shit lol and I'm just going along with what they plan for me. I'm thankful for my orthodontist 🙏

      Hello, sorry for only getting back to you now! They were fully aware that I was a student and asked for my preferences which they tried to fulfil.
