Absolutely agree. I have been doing a set with my three year old daughter, and I was surprised how close it felt to the Lego of my childhood - which has more housey stuff, with lots of interior details and so on.
I feel like the Friends line has just gotten better and better as time goes on. There are more and more sets that keep coming out that I want to pick up and incorporate into my normal city stuff. The Botanical Garden is an easy buy for me. Very excited for a lot of these!!
The botanical garden set is so gorgeous! If it wasn't for the minidolls I honestly would have mistaken it as an ideas or creator set. The colors, details and part usage are ridiculously good. It's going to get a lot of fans who have never bought a friends set to buy one and probably multiple copies of it to make it whole. I'm so grateful they went with such an elegant color scheme and kept the bright colors with the plants. Beach amusement part is another set that really stood out.
I love basically everything about Friends as a theme besides the mini dolls themselves. I understand their purpose, it’ll always just bug me a bit that they could so easily be replaced with standard minifigs. This theme feels like a modern-day Paradisa that had a chance to expand and grow, and so many sets knock it out of the park!
That Botanical Gardens set completely transcends the theme and I'm sure many LEGO City enthusiasts are considering buying it, so a review would be wonderful!
I thought the dome on the botanical garden looked like it was just a quarter of a full one. But looking closer, it actually looks like half of one on an angle. So you could probably pretty easily make a fully enclosed building with just 2 sets!
I'm impressed that the community center and community kitchen can be combined and stacked! I'm also very grateful that you pointed out the lack of a parent in the forest protest set.
The botanical garden is my favorite; the wave reminds me strongly of Paradisa. Plus the green saxophone and pink frogs as flowers are an excellent part usage - The trees and palms though should be taller and less stiff.
Man, I have to say the Friends designers are really on their game and, in my opinion, outshining the traditional City theme. I also love the bright colors. Did you notice that the Community Kitchen and Community Center can be combined? That’s a great feature!

DANG, Friends is the theme that really makes me want to save up money to buy lego! On top of the Botanical Garden, I adore the precedent that the Community Center and the Community Kitchen are setting? If you didn't notice it in the images, The Community Kitchen uses the same sub-system as the Community Center? So it can be stacked up as a Bottom Floor of the Larger Community Center? It's pretty slick! I hope we get more "Community [Blank]" Sets

The Botanical Gardens and the Town Center are incredible and very impressive to me. Feel free to get these if they make you happy. Thats what matters most.
This friends wave is really great but the botanic garden is just incredible. I know it’s not worth your while to do loads of friends reviews but would love if you could maybe do light touch reviews of the ones you choose to buy for yourself.
If that garden goes on sale, I’m definitely gonna consider buying it. I think those parts could make a great build of any genre, and the plants look super fun to build

Friends buildings are getting so good. That botanical garden especially is stunning. How many copies of it would it take to build an enclosed one I wonder.
I can understand people's reservations about the friends theme when it started but they've really stepped up their game with the builds in the last few years.
Oh, wow! This just went to the top of my Wish List! So amazing! I just love this! Such a great looking set, especially for a nature-lover like myself; great-looking build, and some really unique part useage and parts in new colours, too. I am very excited about this set!!

Okay, this is crazy… I never really had much interest in Friends, and to be honest this was the last thing I had expected to improve like this. These are amazing!! They don’t feel necessarily like “Friends”, but structures and places that can fit next to City sets. Seriously, this is going to be the first time I’m buying Friends sets lol. Edit - I'm legit gonna buy 2 of the gardens sets. I need a full, 4 wall building!
The friends sets have been getting better and better the last few years. Its much easier to make modulars out of them and include them in the city. Definitely going to be picking up a few of the Botanical gardens and making a modular arboretum.
It's probably been said a hundred times, but I wish they had Friends sets with a choice of minidolls or minifigures. Especially since they got away from all the pinks and lavender. Some of the best sets out there.

The Botanical Garden is incredible. I think I'll be getting several of them and making a larger moc. The community center and kitchen sets also look great and I like how they showed them combined. again a few of those for an even bigger build! I'm really liking how the friends sets are getting more elaborate builds and it's not just dinky facades. I've long been a fan of the bright colours in them too (I know a lot of folk aren't)-- but even those are starting to mature and come into their own-- the autumn stables is a great example of this. Having said that I think its time they retire the green/blue/white/purple palette for the vehicles. It's just not a good combo.
I was looking through the LEGO Store to see if there were any sets that caught my eye, and when I saw the beach set I remembered liking it a lot when I first saw it a few weeks ago. There's an image from behind the set showing a very complicated gear system through the windows. I love mechanisms in LEGO sets so I was excited to see what it controlled. I was astounded while watching the video show that a single crank made the entire set come alive. The big seas creatures spin and rotate just like a real ride. The Pirate ship sways from side to side. The little water gun targets move just like the real thing. The surf board moves fluidly and organically likes it's actually surfing on water. All this from one crank And my favourite part is that they don't hide the the mechanism away completely. from most angles you can't see the gears, but if you're like me and love to see how machines work, you can look through the back window and see the gears at work. I'd highly recommend going to the LEGO website and watching the video for yourself.
Love your reviews an live builds. Pls do the Botanical set - I feel like this could be a crossover and will engage more viewers than usual friends set.

Friends has blurred the lines between the Lego city and heart lake city stuff like over all quality and also colors can blend easy with the city builds.
Never bought a Friends set in my life, but that Botanical Garden actually looks really nice. Without the figures and maybe with slightly more detail, that could easily be an 18+ display set (or an Ideas set).
People who limit themselves to only buy male-oriented sets are really missing out on something, this botanical garden is so amazing! If my sister doesn’t want it, I might just buy it for myself.
The botanical gardens looks amazing: dome, waterfall, plants, butterflies. It is reminding me of real greenhouses and the museum in Animal Crossing. I don't love the colours of the bus but it is great that it goes to Unity St. That is the location of the Downtown Flower and Design Stores. It will be interesting to see how all the downtown sets look together.
Think I might need to buy four of those Botanical Gardens. Just imagining a nice large MOC with a couple of complete domes flanking a grand entrance and a large glass hall behind it. A bit like the old Crystal Palace.
I have chronic illness and haven't smiled in a week at least but when I saw that big pretty community center tower and the beautiful botanical gardens I have a grin a mile long!! As a Lego Friend's collector who isn't always keen on the style or colors they have morphed into I am really happy with those! I'm surprised the botanical gardens is with the Friend's stuff as it looks more like a stand alone kind of set to me but I'm just glad its a thing whatever genre its grouped into!!
That botanical garden looks incredible, but I'm worried it will sell out in seconds. Hopefully some of the target audience can get their hands on it, rather than just AFOLs sweeping the shelves just to resell the parts.

These are beautiful. The community center is definitely on my list if I figure out how to use it to add more floors on my Ninjago City.

The tower stacked on top of the community kitchen, and the kitchens roof creates the park when placed on the towers base.
