"Somone who also has to pay his way through life, who doesn't get the Lego sets for free, and has to pay a mortgage and other adult kind of things." This is why we support you Jang 🙌
I know this didn't happen, but I like to think the reason this video took so long to arrive was because Jang was looking at the price with an open mouth this whole time
Video is "late" because I was on forced break due to a huge charity fundraising milestone surpassed last month; promise made, promise delivered. Now I'm back to work 7 days/week for you all!
That's what I was secretly hoping as well, though I knew Lego wouldn't. I'm not shelling out for a second skiff. Once is enough. Thank goodness the Mos Eisley Cantina didn't part out the Bith band as a separate set.
Yeah I was shocked about 3PO's leg when I first saw this. I'm not getting this nor am I obsessed with minifigures but come on! You guys have a better 3PO. Why are you not including that in this set for the price you're charging? Ahhh who cares? Star Wars fans will whine about it and go and buy it day one anyway so Lego will continue doing this
And a desert skiff so you don’t have to buy two copies of the sarlac set to get a second skiff! I mean there were two in the film, they’ve already put one in the sarlac set, least they could’ve done is include one in UCS set.
Unpopular opinion maybe, but I think this whole "Adults Welcome" black box era of Lego is almost working against the consumer at this point because were getting desired properties and things we've always wanted from Lego finally but now ALL of them are at this single set "display piece worthy" quality and specifically the biggest things they could possibly make from that property, so the price reflects it and now all of these desired properties are shoved over into the incredibly expensive array of giant sets the average person can't reasonably buy more than 1 of or fit more than 1 or 2 anywhere. Lord of the Rings for example went from an affordable theme with loads of sets to now a single gigantic $500 set, it's ridiculous and stupid.
And even setting aside price, there's the question of space. The sets that are actually fun to build and that look striking when completed are huge, gobbling up tons of shelf space.
I’ve been loving the Animal Crossing sets. A property I love, releasing in small waves of normal playsets and the sets themselves encourage modifying and adding on to them
The worst thing about these collector sets for the brand of Lego is so few people who buy them will ever customize them in any way, even less will ever disassemble them.
To add to that one comment; also the fact that Barad Dur is $40 cheaper and includes 1,500 more pieces, 1 less “big fig” if you want to call Jabba that, and looks to be an infinitely better display product/build experience, really hammers home how overpriced this is if the three prior examples didn’t already. I love star wars, but I’m absolutely saving to buy Rivendell instead of this.
Jang I love your real opinions. You are not sponsored by Lego and I appreciate your videos 100% more than all the Lego 'ambassadors' out there, who gush over sets shamefully despite the outrageous pricing and nonsense Lego tries to push on fans. Thanks for the video and please continue to do you, it is appreciated by us the real people, that don't have a lot of expendable income.
Yeah I watched a few of those ambassadors reviews on this they do all comment on the price and usually say “$500 is a lot for this set but it’s great” and that’s usually the extent they’ll comment on the price, but they never say not to pay for it and a lot of them even have Rivendell or Avengers tower they could easily compare the amount of stuff you get with those sets with the barge yet they don’t.
@@thatfunkymonkey7667 They make their money by gushing, so why would they stop? And of course, Lego is happy to help them by sending them free, pre-release sets in exchange for coverage. Thank goodness there are some channels like Jang's, where they haven't sold their soul to make a buck off TH-cam views.
@@WarHog4ever The irony is just how many of them use a variation of "is it worth it" in the title of their videos whenever a big set comes out. They all copy each other and all ask a question they can't in good faith even answer, all to draw views so they can make money off their channel.
Big fan of Jang’s extensive knowledge on three incredibly random alien characters who never have any lines and are only in the opening act of one movie. That’s what being a Star Wars fan is all about.
I…I don’t know, my gut instinct here is that this is $200 overpriced. I saw it and I thought “Without the skiff and pit, that’s a decent $300 set”. But to have so few minifigs, using the not best C-3PO, locking scene-appropriate figures behind an extra $80 set, I honestly hope this set tanks and Lego is sent a message. My favorite thing about this set is the “free” gift that I’ll never be able to get my hands on anyway.
Jang is so real. Love that he can always have a level headed take when it comes to Lego. His rant at the end actually sold me on getting the rivendell set, the passion for Lego is infectious!!
Completely ridiculous price. I feel like Lego is trying to see how overpriced they can make a set and what sort of excuses people will use to defend them. I wouldn't even say the minifigures are that good, just average.
With few exceptions the minifigures are mostly good renditions but there are a few misses which for a set that commands such a high entry price is certainly the issue.
They are absolutely making a conscious effort to see how far they can push Star Wars fans specifically. And so far Star Wars fans have taken the bait every time.
yup this video has cemented you as the most honest lego reviewer out there. So tired of "thanks lego for sending me this set!" at the start of these reviews, it instantly makes me question the bias aspect of not having to drop freaking 500 bucks for this thing.
You're one of my favorite lego reviewrs. You keep it real and dont fawn all over the product like some reviews do. Also for most people halfway to $1000 is not an easy spend when we have bills and living expenses. Of course getting free product makes them lose sight of that issue. Thanks for an honest review. ❤
Best Lego content on TH-cam. He has basic consumer access to the sets and that makes everything so much more legit. Anyone that has free sets given ahead of the public is automatically suspect to me, no matter their opinion and proclamation of honesty.
I'd love to hear more about Jang's views on the pupils of figures like Salacious Crumb, Darth Maul and Gollum. I think a big reason why people are disliking them is because they seem to go against Lego's design rules for other figures. Like most figures just have black with the white highlight. That represents the pupil and the light reflecting. But then these characters are given their eye colour. They don't do that for most figures. Darth Maul is given yellow eyes with white on them. But he doesn't have yellow pupils. He has yellow irises. Gollum has green irises not green pupils. Luke Skywalker has blue eyes and Princess Leia has brown eyes but both their figures have black eyes.
LEGO has been using this exact style of coloured eye since like 2012, across multiple themes. They're just trying to be more consistent now by bringing some exceptions in line with the rest (although it's much more debatable when it comes to creatures)
I'm never too fussed about accuracy since I'm used to Marvel using concept designs, but when it comes to how pricey this set is, the lacking aspects for minifigures stick out really bad. It's silly and odd prioritizing giving Leia dual molded legs over C3PO (who has had a far more detailed version), there's frankly no win in that choice considering this product is aimed towards older audiences anyway like you said. IMO the appeal of the sail barge is its variety of characters present in the scene, and unfortunately this set does not do it properly.
look at the crossection book to see what should have been inside and which characters are missing and the answer is hard pass, im building a bigger proper one instead
So for $500: - missing Luke - missing Han - missing Chewbacca - missing Lando - missing Boba Fett - missing sarlacc pit - missing skiff - needlessly inaccurate Leia that looks like she's wearing shorts... censored for the "adults welcome" set... - an inferior C3PO than current cheaper sets - a piece count that doesn't justify the price - a $80 DLC set sold separately that has the other characters, which also has inaccurate characters - if you get the $80 set, you've now got two different looking stands...
Jang: I love your reviews. I appreciate that you actually buy all the sets that you review as opposed to being sent them. I watched your reviews of the old Sail Barge & Skiff sets from 2013 - I bought them both. I then added the characters, weequay, Han & Cheebacca from the 2016/17 skiff and it looks so much better. I intend to buy a couple of the minifigs from the UCS set to add to my 2013 Sail Barge. I can have all of that for under £300 and in my opinion, the 2013 sets are still better looking and more fun.
Agreed, the value of this set is absolutely atrocious next to those three sets you mentioned; granted they're all incredibly expensive but those three gave you so much more despite costing the same. Heck right at this moment, the UCS Razor Crest is heavily discounted from a retailer called John Lewis in the UK and is a bit cheaper than this Barge at £390; granted nowhere near as many figures but it's a much more substantial build! Or even worse, when looking outside of licensed sets, 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens is a massive $150 cheaper, has 1,700 more pieces (mostly tiny but some large) and DOUBLE the number of figures over the Barge!
People should refuse to buy this and force Lego to drop the price like they have done previously when sets have sold poorly. But unfortunately they won't because it's Star Wars and they'll just run out and buy stuff on day one at full price even though those same people complained about it.
@@joevictor53 Im genuinely curious if the pricing is due to a shrinking customer base for starwars in general, having to squeeze more to get the same profits. Personally I haven't picked up anything lego SW since like 2019. Just fed up with being expected to throw money at disney.
@@joevictor53 Not me. Lego's pricing (and repetitive sets and slipping quality control) means I quit Lego Star Wars. I don't buy much Lego at all anymore, actually, focusing instead on the alternative brands. When you feel like Lego is always trying to bend you over, the hobby loses its luster fast.
@@MindKog There have been pretty decently priced sets like the Inquisitor Transport Scythe, the downsized $50 sets like the Slave I, and the Imperial TIE Fighter and X-wing from 2021 (not the new one). Plus Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter to name a few. Those were all priced fine and had good substance to them, which were even better value as they have all had discounts before some of them retired, but I can understand your feelings towards Disney.
I think another issue with the minifigs that is so evident in the marketing, is that the whole scene becomes quite tragic without Luke coming to the rescue. It feels like a darker timeline where Leia and the droids were stuck with Jabba forever!
This set was missing too many figures, not just the obvious ones like Boba Fett, Luke and the rest of the gang. We could of got so many exclusive characters such as Tanus Spijek, J'Quille, Shasa Tiel, Geezum, Saelt-Marae. Still not sure if I will purchase it or not.
@@campbellroehrich7146 you get them in desert skiff so they are there they split the set into two which I like because it means if you don’t want this set your forced to buy it to get a desert skiff
You could bricklink this entire thing for significantly less, using used parts, and save even more by getting yellowed stuff, since a SAND BARGE would actually look significantly more realistic like that lol
It would still cost a lot also you have to consider how expensive shipping is on bricklink. Further more the sails will NOT be cheap to acquire by themselves once this gets parted out on bricklink. With all that into consideration you would probably be better off just getting the original set and just selling some of the figures if you didn’t care about them and just the ship
Jang I just want to say that I have always appreciated how raw and unfiltered you are in situations such as this. I value your opinions so highly. Never stop being you
Given there will probably be fewer people buying this than other UCS sets, it could go the path of the razor crest and be marked down 30% in a few years. When that happens I will buy it.
Perhaps that is Lego's new game. Set a price of $500 to get all of the suckers. Then discount it to the real price of $350, to look like a great deal, and sell even more units.
@@stephenphillips6456 Not really since lego themselves most of the time are allergic to discounts. Its only really getting discounted by third party stores.
@@stephenphillips6456 most likely their strategy. They’re hoping most people buy this at full price with the help of influencers and the ambassadors who will push this product. They make the most profit per unit at the full price. They only put the Razer crest on sale because it was sitting on shelves and not moving. The same may occur with this set as most of to early adopters will buy it in the first couple of months and then very little stock will move.
$500 buys a lot of other sets for videos we can enjoy. Thank you for your honest reviews and thoughts. I love winding down at the end of the day with these vids. 😊
Jang. The interior of the barge itself was really dark, especially after Leia shorted out all the windows. As for the price? Holy Moley! They should’ve included the Skiff set for 500 bucks. It’s insane that they want $600 for the total set.. Edit: on a sidenote, one of the early reviewers actually said I wouldn’t buy this on day one unless you can get the light saber and resell it. I was like wait a minute, you’re saying to justify the price of this LEGO set I need to buy and scalp another LEGO set?
If Jang, who usually tries to be as fair and nice as one could be, tells you its overpriced....IT IS overpriced. Really sad, because the Model looks cool :(
I've loved Star Wars since childhood and specifically love that whole sequence in Jedi with the barge and skiffs. But no way would I ever pay $500 for a Lego model of the barge. It does look good, but the price is just outrageous. At this point it almost feels like Lego is spitting in my face with each big new release.
Thanks Jang. I’m getting a bit frustrated with the price defenders. I wish there was a way to get Lego to make some high quality sets at better prices. Feels rare for themes I enjoy
The gift with purchase lightsaber is so frustrating to me. If those lightsaber sets were widely available, I'd buy every single one, day one, and probably be willing to pay more than $22 (because I'm a little delusional). I bought all the helmets, I'd love to have all the lightsabers to go with them. It's infuriating to have desirable, reasonably priced, adult-oriented products locked behind $500 gates and only available for 1-2 hours before being gone forever. Also goes for the Fell Beast that released with Barad-dûr.
Thanks for your work, Jang! Jedi was my first Star Wars movie in a theater and, for a long time, it was my favorite. Therefore, I really wanted to forgive this set's price and add it to my collection. Your honest review (and your reference to being about my age so I know we're coming at this from a similar angle) helped me overcome my nostalgia and realize that I should find a better use of my LEGO dollars. Thanks again!
Thanks for the great video Jang! This is definitely one of the sets where I’ve been a bit on the fence, not about purchasing (this subject matter would never tempt my wallet at this price) but as an observer who loves Lego and Lego Star Wars. Your video firmly swayed me to agreeing with your opinion on this set. Major props on showing the comment from the blog site with the price comparisons and testing down any argument made to justify the price here. I hope this set doesn’t succeed for Lego and that fans vote with their wallets. If the set was $350-400, I think it gets a pass. Part count and figure count for that size of vehicle would seem appropriate, especially for a subject matter that will draw less attention than a Venator or Slave 1. If they have their $500 price point set ahead of time, fine, but make it bigger with more parts so there is more space for more figures. If you can’t do that as it will screw up the scale, fine, include the Skiff and essential characters from 75396 with this and sell a separate version with some of the same characters and some different. The scene does have TWO Skiffs. For collectors that would allow for the optimum display/collection/etc. , while also still allowing for fans who do not/can not spend $500 on a Sail Barge set to recreate the sarlaac pit scene from ROTJ.
I broke my addiction to UCS sets a few years ago. My last UCS was the 2nd UCS Star Destroyer. That was the final one. The price has become too ridiculous. I like the all of them a lot, but that price.... Just too much. But I'm probably not the target audience for this type of product anymore. And that's okay.
I’ve always wanted a Sail Barge since the 2006 one came out. Now I’m an adult with my own money so I bought the Desert Skiff in August to pair it with the Sail Barge later on . . . I almost passed out when I saw the $650 CAD price tag. This is insane. Unacceptable. I simply cannot spend $650 plus tax on a lego set. This should’ve been $450 MAX! But what other choice do I have if I want the set so bad
I love the galley kitchen and I like the top deck. I think they needed to go 1 stud taller, as you can’t see Jabba’s head unless looking, up at the model.
I think the Lego bubble will soon burst. Lots of other companies make sets at least as good for less. Cobi, Gobricks, Bluebrixx, Cada, Funwhole, Pantasy. With the recent drop in quality that Lego had (incorrect colours, big sprue points) many of them have even better bricks than Lego. They often give you better designed sets at lesser price or at least just the smaller price, some even have cool extras (Funwhole always comes with an entire LED USB set, Cada put glue and cotton wool in a recent rocket set so you could basically create a mid-launch display setup) and often have prints instead of stickers. It makes Lego look like cheapshots and I‘ve also heard of Lego employees (second hand accounts) who were told to design a set for a specific price range only for the money makers to basically decide to sell the set for significantly more than originally intended without changes. It’s appalling. Especially since I think Lego in the past 5 years had so many fantastic sets that were jut way too overpriced. They probably lost 1000s of dollars on me for overpricing their sets - I would have bought this sail barge at 300 easily. I would have bought the cantina at 250, the Razor Quest UCS at 300, or the recent Lego Star Wars book at 40-50. (for 150 I get one of the massive Star Wars Archives books from Taschen). Alas, it’s not meant to be. Last I want to tell you how much I appreciate your reviews, often positively biased but not blind to Lego‘s faults, and I appreciate that you are drawing a line here.
Unlikely, Lego knows their marketing and they have a good diversity of themes, including originals. And, forgetting the overpriced licensed sets that underdeliver, I still lover Lego and want them to keep coming up with new exciting things.
The alternative brands have come on so strong in the last few years that they could really give Lego a run for their money, but it's definitely a David vs. Goliath situation. Lego is a giant corporate monster that has money-making down to a science. But they nearly crashed and burned in the past and shouldn't get cocky. Pride goeth before a fall.
Those who bent the knee for LEGO are way out of touch, Jang always love your non commercial biases free reviews and thoughts. Keep up the fantastic content
Solely going to focus on the price here - yes, that comment sums it up so perfectly. From Germany, and Lego has a rather bad reputation here these days. The pricing for many of the bigger sets just seems so random, as if they are throwing dice and checking if they can get away with it. Year after year, the sets contain less pieces and figures for ever-growing prices. My own salary certainly hasn't been going up that much, and I can in no way allow myself to buy these sets, even though I would love to have many of them. People might now suggest that one should just save up and get one of them eventually - but come on. If this is your hobby and passion, then obviously you would like to buy them a little more often. Unfortunately, the trend seems to be that Lego is becoming more and more of an item for rich collectors, not average consumers.
As someone who has been struggling to decide whether to get the Sail Barge, Avengers Tower, or Rivendell… and has been leaning Sail Barge. You definitely changed my mind quite a bit. I love this set… I think it’s *cooler* to me than Rivendell and the AT, (just more of a Star Wars fan) but the price is just ludicrous.
when i saw $500 i thought “oh man. 500 clams and i bet it isn’t even gonna be 5000 pieces. probably gonna be like 4.5k pieces”. BRO IT ISN’T EVEN 4000 PIECES!?!? inflation hit lego HARD! leah still has the shorts from last time so you are still dealing with that.
I bought Jabba’s sail barge 75020 in 2013 for $100 and thought that was way too much. $500 is insane. It’s like Lego is actively trying to put themselves out of business.
Totally agree with everything you said here. That being said, you asked viewers about buying the Legend of Zelda Deku Tree, which is not AS overpriced but is certainly pricey, and I am curious if you'll build that. I mention that because I'd love to see you do a video about how you see that value compared to this and some other larger sets where the price seems to be heading in a troubling direction (the X-Jet, for example). I feel like a video expressly addressing Lego's value might get more traction/be more effective instead of the message being tucked into videos like this where hype over an individual set might overcome the larger message. Just a suggestion. For myself, I thought that was a fun, interesting build that somewhat justified the cost with a large number of new parts/molds, a TON of exclusive prints, no stickers, and lots of care into premium figures (all with dual molding on legs and arms). Yet the price still stung a little. Regardless, keep doing the great work, and I appreciate someone speaking up honestly.
The barge + everything in the skiff set at $500, I think, would've been ok 2024 value (still not the best price-to-part ratio, but much better price-to-amount-of-stuff. The fact that this is split between two independently overpriced sets is absurd! Almost $600 for the full thing! Keep doing what you're doing Jang! Look forward to more reviews of better value sets!
This price is perfectly reasonable...for me to quit Lego from here on. Not that I needed it. Stopped buying for a year now without regrets. This is the final nail in the coffin. I hope more will stop feeding the greedy cashgrab by a toy brand mainly profiting from nostalgia, recyclable artificial material with artificially induced scarcity. Sincere thanks to Lego, and best wishes to whoever is still feeding this beast.
Before you give up on the hobby entirely, check out the alternative brands. A lot of them are making sets equal to or better than Lego in terms of quality for much lower prices. You can still have fun building without feeling like you're being taken advantage of. I buy very little Lego at this point and certainly don't want to support their predatory pricing and marketing.
Of all the minifigs in SW, this version of leia gets dual moulded legs. When C3-PO was right there. When so many different figs could use it better. And if dual moulded legs cost so much, it makes it hard to include them in smaller sets, then why adding that leg tax here, in already pricey set? I swear, this set was supposed to be 350, but legs alone cost Lego so much, it added 150 extra bucks
To quote Dark Helmet, that price is LUDICROUS! The comparisons by Bricky Dee Williams that you shared, really puts things in perspective. I can't believe how bad a value it is compared to Rivendell and the Avengers Tower. I don't blame you at all for not buying it, JANG.
I feel like lego is just testing the willingness of star wars fans. I bet the next UCS set they will make will be another 50 dollars above the price, and they will keep going higher and higher until the fans finally notice it in a few years. When they do, they will mercifully take the price down to only 250% from the 300%, and it will start selling more than ever before. Or maybe they are just taking into account that the investors will do the math of "I buy this for 500, sell the thing for 200, so i have the barge for 300" inside their head, and price it with the GWP in mind.
ship looks good but there are 2 MAJOR problems with this set: 1. value for your money. This set is hella overpriced. 350 would be reasonable, not good but worth a look. As it counts for every other product, if you buy a bigger thing from the same brand it should be a better deal than buying 10x a smaller thing. If you spend more youre exchange value should greatly increase but in this case you get a worse price per piece / price for weight / amount of detail, prints and minifigs than what you would have gotten if you bought a lot of smaller sw sets. Thats a no go. Make it 400 bucks and include a skiff and 3 more figs, people would be ok with it. But this is simply a ripoff. 2. the figures are really underwhelming. Nowadays the only thing that lego has compared to its competition that justifies them charging more money for their product than other companies is license and minifigure exclusivity. Therefore it is reasonable to analyse the figures more precisly than other parts of the set. And this is where this set fails. - Jabba looks basically the same as his former figs (printing is a tiny bit different, ok) - Pig guard, max reebo and R2 are what you expect, as good as the former versions (ok) - the 3 other henchmen are kinda exciting because they are "new" (kithaba not so much though) but all three lack even the detail that should be considered "normal" for new figures: leg printing on the front of the piece. they just look underdevelopped for a premium priced product / brand - C3P0, Leia, Salacious Crumb and Bib Fortuna are worse than other existing figures of that costume. C3P0 lacks the dual moalded, side printed legs, Leia lacks the more accurate skirt-underpants legs, Salacious Crumb lacks the pupils and Bib Fortuna is the worst by having that wrongly reused headpiece that doesnt match the movie depiction. For all of these figures better versions exist (C3P0: land speeder/ big fig; Leia: last sailbarge; Salacious Crumb and Bib Fortuna: Jabbas palace. For these reasons in particular, ignoring other issues (f. ex. the sails that come dammaged because they arent protected properly in a hardcase or something and are therefore bend pre opening the box), this product feels like a scam.
LEGO are high. They have lost touch with reality. It’s not the actual dollar amount, it’s the value that dollar gets you. Would love to see a ‘rotten tomatoes’ guide for LEGO sets based on pure value
No, they know what they're doing. They know there's enough rich people who are going to buy this. They calculate it. They don't have average Lego enjoyer in mind when they roll out overpriced sets like this.
@@FlymanMS I actually agree to some of your thoughts and a few ad ons :) It’s a pricing game, you are right, they know they will loose some buyers but will make up for that loss that they are willing to loose in those that pay a premium, therefore keeping overheads lower and netting out on the product. Where I counter a little bit are ‘all the rich people’ buying it. I disagree, I think the majority of purchases will be those that are financially stretching to afford it. Credit card etc. maybe some ‘rich’ peeps. I would love this. It would look nice. I AM the target audience. But no. Jangs point of $350 is spot on.
Man why is this not $399? This screams "I'm exactly $400 in value" that licensing fee is getting too high man. Disney is going to be the death of the UCS line...
It's not Disney. Avengers Tower is Disney, has almost 3x the figures, 1000+ more pieces, same price, current (no inflation adjustment needed). Disney did not set the price. They don't set the price for any LEGO product. LEGO does.
Me and three friends were front of the queue for the European premier of RoTJ at the Dominion Theatre, Tottenham Court Road, London in 1983 (which was also the world-first triple-bill of all three original movies shown at the same time in the same theatre). An event I'll never forget.
Holy crap it’s the same price as the 2018 haslab sail barge was. What’s also crazy is it has pretty much the same layout and all the panels on the left side of the barge are removable in the same exact way. It’s pretty much the haslab sail barge made out of legos.

I hate when those influencers discuss if the price is "worth it" or not, when they get the sets for free. They are so out of touch.
I absolutely agree with you. $350 would be an adequate price. $500 is crazy.
The most hilarious part to me is that the GWP is based on the scene on the Skiff. That is not included in the UCS set.
Finally something other than a bunch of Lego Star Wars Grey… Lego Star Wars Brown!
So long as its not revenge of the Brittle Brown.
Bricklink should categorize the theme this way
This is why Jang is the only reviewer I trust. Someone who has to buy the stuff, and gives his honest thoughts. Great video!
Jang is so real. Love that he can always have a level headed take when it comes to Lego. His rant at the end actually sold me on getting the rivendell set, the passion for Lego is infectious!!
The Rivendell set looks like a work of art on the shelf and is fun to build. If you're ever going to spend $500 on a Lego set, that should be the one!
This review is the precise reason I come to Jang’s channel. We truly appreciate your honesty man.
No matter how advanced other reviewers post their views, I will always watch and like your videos, keep up the good work 😊
Completely ridiculous price.
Right on my man. Everything is awesome when it’s given to you for free. Even “just okay” things.
12:42 Jang doing his best Todd Howard impression.
I definitely respect the fact that you won’t be picking this one up even as a major fan. Honestly, the price is absurdly difficult to justify.
Luke Skywalker has blue eyes and Princess Leia has brown eyes but both their figures have black eyes.
ninjago Lloyd has green eyes, with the white being the pupils looks great.
Im mixed but for some characters the iris color is more prominent and necessary to the characters portrayal.
LEGO has been using this exact style of coloured eye since like 2012, across multiple themes. They're just trying to be more consistent now by bringing some exceptions in line with the rest (although it's much more debatable when it comes to creatures)
@joevictor53 I agree. Well put. Eye depiction is somewhat inconsistent and the discourse surrounding it tends to be ill informed.
I agree! I think Jang talked about it in the review of the Thrawn playset?
Lay it out there Jang, great job. Much love and support, glad you’re in it for the HOBBY
Jang is the best! Love how you said parents can address morality. Keep fighting the good fight!
Yea C3PO really should have the same legs from the C3PO set released in August.
Needed to hear this! Love the source material so much but have been having so many doubts about the value of this set, thanks Jang 🙏
look at the crossection book to see what should have been inside and which characters are missing and the answer is hard pass, im building a bigger proper one instead
Holy cow did you hit the nail on the head, JB. This morning the website was sold out and eBay, Bricklink and social media littered with Luke’s sabers
I want to like this comment to acknowledge what you said, but really don't at all like what happened...
I like displeased Jang. A fair and entertaining video.
So for $500:
- missing Luke
- missing Han
- missing Chewbacca
- missing Lando
- missing Boba Fett
- missing sarlacc pit
- missing skiff
- needlessly inaccurate Leia that looks like she's wearing shorts... censored for the "adults welcome" set...
- an inferior C3PO than current cheaper sets
- a piece count that doesn't justify the price
- a $80 DLC set sold separately that has the other characters, which also has inaccurate characters
- if you get the $80 set, you've now got two different looking stands...
Thank you so much - you are my favorite Lego TH-camr by far. Soothing voice, good analysis and great content.
I’ve never seen Jang just straight up not buy a Star Wars set, especially one as hyped as this one. Mad respect Jang.
Loved the reasonable roasting from the first to the last second.
I think another issue with the minifigs that is so evident in the marketing, is that the whole scene becomes quite tragic without Luke coming to the rescue. It feels like a darker timeline where Leia and the droids were stuck with Jabba forever!
Jang I love you, thank you for calling out this price!
@@campbellroehrich7146 and Yee Yee
You could bricklink this entire thing for significantly less, using used parts, and save even more by getting yellowed stuff, since a SAND BARGE would actually look significantly more realistic like that lol
Typically I’d agree but most of the parts that aren’t new recolors would be the brittle brown and it wouldn’t be a great experience
You could probably use alternative parts and get it for even cheaper. Get some older mini figures and bam, you’ve got it.
Jang I just want to say that I have always appreciated how raw and unfiltered you are in situations such as this. I value your opinions so highly. Never stop being you
Everytime jang covers price im like “thats not too insane” and then he lists my currency and i recoil
Where are you finding the razor crest at 30% off?
$500 buys a lot of other sets for videos we can enjoy. Thank you for your honest reviews and thoughts. I love winding down at the end of the day with these vids. 😊
Thank you for telling it like it is. I'll be happy with my 2013 version and call it a day.
What's the big deal with lightsaber? It's not that pretty and it's not hard to build, I bet there are better MOCs out there that are way cheaper.
I'm glad you had some time off, and I'm very glad you're back. This video is excellent. :)
I can‘t explain how much i like this video ❤ thanks Jang 👍
Jang. Your commentary is aging with you like a fine wine: very dry 😂 loved every minute. Totally on point.
11:18 MY FAV JANG NOISE
If Jang, who usually tries to be as fair and nice as one could be, tells you its overpriced....IT IS overpriced.
Really sad, because the Model looks cool :(
I've loved Star Wars since childhood and specifically love that whole sequence in Jedi with the barge and skiffs. But no way would I ever pay $500 for a Lego model of the barge. It does look good, but the price is just outrageous. At this point it almost feels like Lego is spitting in my face with each big new release.
Jang is such a G love you man keep keeping it real
I’ve said it for years but this video confirms it. Jang has always been the most real and trustworthy Lego influencer of all time.
This set should have been $350-$400 at most! $500 is insanity!!
Jang you are such a legend, never change.
This set should have included 2 skiff speeders and the sarlacc pit that is the only way i could justify this costing $500 dollars
So, are they going to call her "Boba Fett's starship" Leia now?
Hutt Slayer?
Just princess Leia according to box
Raygun Leia
For $500 you can get your hands on Max Rebo, plus a free sail barge on the side!
Excellent, thanks Jang!
You had me rolling all video long! Well done, Jang!
17:00 as someone who has $270 in vip points ready, Jang told me not what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear 🤣
I have the first sail Barge that was released, I highly modified it and added much needed minifigures that wasn’t included, saved me £500
And that one includes a skiff and sarlac pitt and more scene important figures…
Jang, with the sails you could add another connecter to the pole of the sails so you can get more room
The price makes total sense....as an experiment to test our breaking point.
$500, no Luke is absolutely diabolical behavior- I agree
Yeah, Luke's in the 80 usd sarlacc pit set...
Where's the movie accurate boba fett at? LOL
300$, maybe 400 with the companion set (sarlacc Pitt and sciff) and maybe another skiff.
Hoooo boy Jang is going off
when i saw $500 i thought “oh man.
Love this video, keep up the good work Jang.
Look forward to more reviews of better value sets!
thank you Jang for standing up to the lego group
11:21 Word. No Luke... Leia in a kilt? No thanks.
Please don't call these speculators "investors".
ship looks good but there are 2 MAJOR problems with this set:
1. value for your money.
- Jabba looks basically the same as his former figs (printing is a tiny bit different, ok)
- Pig guard, max reebo and R2 are what you expect, as good as the former versions (ok)
- the 3 other henchmen are kinda exciting because they are "new" (kithaba not so much though) but all three lack even the detail that should be considered "normal" for new figures: leg printing on the front of the piece. they just look underdevelopped for a premium priced product / brand
- C3P0, Leia, Salacious Crumb and Bib Fortuna are worse than other existing figures of that costume.
Some AFoLs will 'punish' Lego for this obscene price by only buying three of them.
Yep. Until people all vote together with their wallets and support the competition, it will only get worse.
Regarding the price: “I don’t care what galaxy you’re from….that’s gotta hurt”
I hope you fully enjoyed your break Jang!
LEGO does.
Rivendell's roof 1x1 tiles are cancelled out by the dumb black minifigure display in the sail barge.
We can't even get a Boba Fett minifigure with this set?!
No Boba, no superior C-3PO with the printed legs, just a big hole in your bank account for the billionaire Lego family.
Respect for putting your foot down on the absurd pricing. I’m a collector and love GWP’s, but this is a hard pass for a day 1 purchase….
