Surely one of Jerry Goldsmith's finest and, ironically, overlooked scores. Full of symphonic narrative. The National Philharmonic have always been able to convey Goldsmiths atmospheric aural landscapes perfectly. Genius and sorely missed......
When I saw this movie at the Graumann's Chineses Theater in 1976 I was at awe with the music that went and bought the soundtrack to add to my collection of his work along with "The Omen" and "The Cassandra Crossing" are also a great music to listen to.
The main theme appears (in the film) to be for Olivier's Lieberman character which surprised me. I suppose the idea is to convey the inner spirit of this apparently frail man. There are great cues, but the majority of the score is very low-key. I do love the harder/harsher sound of late 1970's Goldsmith scores.

The title music wigged me out! Awesome. Parody of a J. Strauss waltz into a combo of 3/4 and 4/4.
I've always loved this score, and I agree this film and its music is very underrated
Wow. Nobody else can compose such an incredible score than Maestro Goldsmith
