I don't know if you address this later, but I thought that races other than Human could have only +1 Will. Your Preen hero got +2? I think the rules says if getting more than +1 Will take the remainder as +3 XP. (p19 text box "Non-humans and Will") Proficiency bonuses for your Mystic Avatar are only +1 (Alchemy remains a +2) because they spend so much time on "MAGIC!". (p52 text box "Lack of Training") Textboxes were a problem in Five Parsecs as well. Critically when considering the "Stun" rules in that tome. I appreciate you dropping the equipment rolls. That really saved my time. Keep up the good work!
While close combat is definitely more crunchy than ranged combat in 5 parsecs, speaking from my experience playing 2nd edition (which what I can tell from a rules flipthrough seems mostly the same as 3rd edition) once you get the hang of it, it's one of the most fun close combat systems in any game I've played. It feels super cinematic and high stakes, and while it might seem like a lot of rules up front, it's pretty straightforward and goes super quick once you have the knack for it. Ivan has done a great job really capturing a good feel for a close combat system that is interesting, engaging, and thematic in a way that really flows on the tabletop without getting bogged down with too much complexity. It's a ton of fun.
Your 5 Parsecs from Home playthrough series was excellent, and I'm really looking forward to your 5 Leagues videos! Thanks for the great introduction to the new game!
Looking forward to the next episode! I feel like this is gonna tip me over and make me purchase it even though I only just got 5 Parsecs haha I love the gritty feel of this and feel like it'd be a great way to try implement it into some sort of dungeon crawl game! It seems like it has all the systems to do so.
It's kind a nice to see that I'm not the only one having issues when creating the characters. It's kind of deceptive to have to guess things and also that the important stuffs are not clearly mentioned. It took me a while understanding what were the primary stats. That said, I still doubt my character's stats, which is very annoying. : /
I soo want to run this game but my fpfh is sooooo big and time consuming and i only get 1 to 2 times a week to play i just dont have the room for it lol and god knows if lasting tales ever ships out a backed the full set so that will be a lot to paint as well if i ever get it
This game and Five Parsecs should use a grid (hexagon) overlay instead of having to eyeball movement with a tape measure (as long as each grid is the same size), The hexagon grid stops arguments about whether a player can move diagonally or not.
I have played several campaigns in Five Parsecs and love it, and I will buy this one eventually. Dusklings, and Fey Blood though? Why not just call them Dwarves and Elves? I'm going to edit my PDF and change the words before I read the rules so my eyes don't bleed. I know I'd be subconsciously calling them "Ducklings." "This setting is NOT based on Tolkien, despite the pictures clearly being Elves and Dwarves."
Yeah, the nice thing about 5PfH and 5LfB is that you can just take the stats but sub in whatever race you want. It's a powerful mechanic and opens the game up to just about any minis.
hi very good videos , i have a question about the rules in the bagpack i can have 8 items , 3 bandages are 3 items or just 1? ...if i have 8 bandages my back pack is full ...thank you
I've played Parsecs 2nd edition and the lethality was what turned us (my wife and I) off from it -- but only because we were looking for a different style game. We wanted Star Wars where no hero dies and we got Game of Thrones where half our crews were dead after the first game. BUT -- it's a great system and I have the new edition and am looking forward to trying it out. I want to try Five Leagues because it feels like playing Battle Brothers on the tabletop and I want to create my own Black Company-style mercenaries. (Wizards and armor -- most often I've heard that, like the fey, iron disrupts the magic and I like that -- but Gandalf certainly knew how to wield a sword and that would be fun, too).

Glad you enjoy it! I'm going to start back up on 5 Parsecs very soon... probably this weekend. I miss playing it.
Awesome, the first 3e batrep for the Five Leagues from the Borderlands playlist! Thanks for the video!
I hope you liked it!
Cool stuff Jim! I'm looking forward to seeing the playthroughs - the 4AD ones are the reigning champs for me, hehehe.
I'll be starting those up again VERY soon. I've been dealing with a minor medical issue with my right eye and things are improving.
First video I’ve seen for this game and it’s got me so excited!
I hope you're enjoying the new ones... 3 should be up very soon today.
Thank you for this video! I have had my eyes on this for a bit and you answered all my initial questions regarding it.
Glad it was helpful!
It's great to see you starting up this campaign,I was hoping you would.
Hope you enjoy the entire series to come...

It does have a "ruin" mechanic for doing a dungeon delve... and yeah, I'm looking forward to that part of the game, too!
@@jktechwriter Nice, cant wait to try that even more now. Might even implement my old heroquest board or black plague tiles for it somehow haha
NOT a bad idea AT ALL!

Love Parsecs and played a bit of Leagues 2nd edition, so want to try out 3rd edition.
I hope you enjoy it!

Measuring and moving diagonally isnt that hard. I wanna play a miniature game and not a board game
Five legues is like parsecs on steroids

Do you still have the dry erase boards available?
Love the video
Thanks, Calvin... more coming!
Dusklings are orcs or barbarians, but its your call. You can find dwarf rules in the discord or facebook group.

How’d you create a dry erase warband sheet?
I make them with my laser.

Will check.
In the skill system if a test is called for and you don't have that skill, what can you do? Enjoy the series, very helpful.
I'll have to check, but I believe you just make the check without a modifier.
Great Video. I did have a question: shouldn't the Preen only have a 1 in Will and 3 XP not 2 Will?
I'll have to go back and check. It's possible I made an error.

Models which you give a ranged weapon to also get a light weapon for free (p24.)
Thanks!
This is great.
Experiment with flipping your video 180 sometime.
I tried it and the viewing angle looks odd. I'll be changing the view once I actually put minis on a map.
