Extraction-Retractive Orthodontist work can cause sleep apnea!!!! Some people have sleep apnea becuase they don't Mew(correct tongue posture) and have a very narrow arch+crowded teeth! Then they can get sleep apnea because they lack tongue space and the tongue can go behind the throat giving the person a smaller airway
Mewing gives you a wide arch so the tongue could fit and so they jaw can develop it's fully genetic potential and have straight teeth naturally if the person doesn't they might get TMJ OSA Migraines brain damage lower IQ and etc!
Orthodontist should never make the arch smaller or more narrow !
The HeadGear Effect happens to some people :(
We humans WENT from 5% malaclusion to 95%!!!! And it shows that OSA is increasing!
I also had had extraction retraction work done and I can see from the x Ray's my airway got Small and then I got tmj and they told me that my jaw got pushed up and back.
Honestly why don't orthodontist make the jaw bigger so all the teeth can fit on the underdeveloped jaws.
Why are orthodontist worsening the underlying problem?!
Why are patients never told about risks?!

I have the exact same condition. I had 8 teeth extracted (4 wisdom and 4 permanent) when I was 18 years old with traditional metal braces. I have an extremely small mouth with a very narrow and high arch. I'm now 60 years old with sleep apnea problems even though I'm a thin runner and in great physical condition. In desperation, I decided to try VIVOS the past 2 years to widen my mouth. It has worked somewhat, but I now have large gaps, flared back teeth, and bite issues that need to be resolved. I'm considering Damon braces or an aligner to hopefully fix this and I may need implants. Very frustrating that traditional orthodontics caused my problem initially.
