- Detailing Flowchart Part 2! Thoroughly decontaminate the surface and extract embedded grime with a Medium Duty Clay Bar. Glide the bar across the surface with Clay Luber to ensure the surface isn't damaged or marred. Clay bar is a necessary step before using a machine polisher or applying coatings, this will achieve the longest lasting shine.
Remove swirl marks and scratches by machine polishing them away. The TORQ 15DA features a 15mm throw to cover more surface area thus saving time and effort. Equipped with a versatile 5” backing plate, the 15DA comes ready-to-use to use for rapid paint correction no matter the size job. Easily refine defects with C4 Clear Cut Correction Compound in less time. Removing 1200 grit and finer sanding marks makes it ideal for precision paint correction. Enhance shine while refining light swirls and scratches with P4 Precision Paint Polish. It is capable of correcting 2000 grit and finer sanding marks without dusting or leaving behind residue, making this polish extremely easy to use and work with.

So once both sides are used in the 1/4 clay bar. How do we continue using it on more occasions? We do just re-roll it into a ball & make a new clay pay so the dirt on will not be there on the clay & we have a new clay service every time until it all seems brown full of dirt?
Wouldnt the contaminates that you are folding into your clay be scratching your paint over time?

If I have a micro fiber towel that has fallen on the floor I get rid of it from my detail pack

Can I polish my vehicle if it has small rust spots? Scrapes?
This is off topic of this video but can you use p40 after washing your car with extreme body wash and wax I find these two a very good combo they make my paint pop on my 2002 Tahoe!

What compound(s) should I use where I've used touch up paint to help it blend in? Like the paint matches obviously lol but there's that tiny bit of difference in the thickness
Hi there! It is fine to polish over touch up paint just pass over this area quickly.
whats the difference between the VSS & the V4 All in One? Trying to figure out what to get to polish the white Lexus. The paint has been neglected- no deep scratches just needs to be brought back to life. TIA
Also how do you polish more narrow areas on the vehicle ie side mirrors, top of the door, etc…

So I have my 2017 Suburban never been polish wax or nothing it's Metallic black the hood looks rough like grayish I want to bring my paint back to life like when I first got it new. How should I start and what products should I get to do all this.
Hi Hugo! After washing and clay barring the vehicle, try a test spot using an Orange Hex-Logic Pad and V36 Cutting Polish to restore depth and gloss.

Hey, Chemical Guys - should I touch up rock chips BEFORE I clay bar and polish? Or after? Its a black 2011 Camaro.
After. This way you have a clean surface so the paint can stick. After that, gently sand the spot on and around with 2000 and 3000 grit. Then polish over and you will hardly see anything anymore.
Hey! Using a clay bar will extract embedded contaminants from the rock chip. After allowing the touch-up paint to cure and harden, it can be color sanded with a fine grit sanding sheet and polished to blend the imperfection.
C3 and P4 need to be used together or you can just c3 by itself?

So i've got my Chemical Guys waterless wash, I'm waiting on my delivery of my medium clay bar and clay luber, and I also have the spray banana wax. Would this be the proper order of operations?

Hi David! Start your detail with Clean Slate to remove old layers of glaze, sealant and wax. Use Wipe Out after polishing just before applying coatings.

Hey! If polishing is necessary it should be performed after the clay bar process or move on to apply coatings.
Otherwise we dont use the clay bar??
He says “one pass”, but he puts a second application for a second pass.

What’s better clay bar or mitt?
Hey Edwin! Both are great options for removing embedded contaminations. A traditional clay bar is great for contouring and fitting into small areas whereas the Mitt covers a larger surface area and is more user friendly in regards to maintenance. If the Mitt is dropped it can be cleaned and reused, if a clay bar is dropped it will need to be replaced.
