The way this has already depreciated, at least here in the EU, it’s gonna be a hell of a deal in about 2 years. Also over here we have big taxes on big engines so I see this car as a win. S class tech with very low taxes
Thanks for the video! We currently have a 2020 AMG E53 that we only use in the summer (GLC 300 for winter). We are considering the SL43 as our next fun car. I'm retired, I don't really rip around anymore, so I'm thinking a 4 cylinder would be fine.
AMG SL 43 - the Lexus LC500 convertible weighs too much making me not trust actual occupant protection during a rollover crash. Also per Motortrend testing the AMG SL 43 is only 1/10 a second slower than the prior generation SL550 with a twin turbo V8 from 0-60mph and I rarely drive on the interstates as I usually fly for long distance trips.
One of the things you left out, which you were probably unaware of about those SLs, is that Mercedes manufacturer in Germany messed up with the p4oduction of their water pumps and thermostats. The parts weren't cleaned out of all the sand which is used to make the parts molds from and thus many of their production of the SL's have an engine issue with them where sand gets all circulated into the coolant channels of the engine. I know about this because I had one of these SL's and I had to make Mercedes buy back my SL due to this problem. Plus, these cars also have a rear wheel brake squeak issue as well. The production of the 2023 and 2024 SL's, people need to stay away from them. Just bad manufacturing and production on these models.
Could add way more detail to this review, what are you on about it's slower? It still 0-60 in 4.5, and it has a light playful front end compared to the v8 version..... talk about specs, not just your generic options. Also the 4 Turbo in this makes 420 horsepower so it's about the same as an m40i engine.
I wonder how much of their value will they lose in the US in 3-4 years? I believe that maybe that price it would be more reasonable. While in isolation its a fantastic car, its just far less compelling of a proposition compared to the obvious alternatives like the 911, LC 500 and even bigger GT Style cars like the 8 series or more pragmatic options like the Jag F type R.

What do you think it will cost in 2 years?
@@jinyuichi6460here in the uk there sill a good 70-80k 2-3 years old
I quite like that 2 litre turbo in this car, but i'd prefer to have it in a CLA45s. SL43? I think it should have a V6 or I6.

what would you own between lc500 vs amg sl?
uuuggghhhh dont ask me hard questions lolol - i think if it really came down to it, the LC500, i have a personal soft spot for that car
Yes! The V8 in the LC is something to grab while you still can!

I’d have to go Lexus LC500 convertible for this money. NA V8 and Lexus build quality (more reliable, less plastic).

The price ?
Great vid
Beautiful car wrong engine and too wide for the UK. Wait for the AMG V8 but still too wide.
Competes with the Lexus lc500
Let's be honest, the R172 SLC43 is a better car than this
This is a fantastic car by Mercedes, but I feel like it's overpriced by about $20,000.
Totally agree
Great car, dreadful exhaust note...
Way too much tech and basically built for the Chinese market! Strip it back to basics and performance. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
In other words its crap folks
Not a good Car. Mandy Elektrik and gear Problems. If you will have a bad day buy this car. I never buy an SL again.
Take some English lessons.
