    Great video. A clogged/jammed extruder is one of the more common issues I experience with my P1s. Both TPU and hard filaments too. This morning my extruder seemed clogged but I could easily pass a .4 needle through the tip when it was hot, yet my extruder was skipping. When I took it apart, there was a very small fragment (like a little 2mm chip) of PC filament that was causing the gears problems.

    Thank you for this i have watched loads of channels trying to fix this and you are the only on that went through getting the whole thing apart.

    Thank you for posting this! I was printing silk PLA on my X1 Carbon when it happened to me, so it appears it's not just a TPU issue. I cleared the clog from the nozzle, but couldn't figure out why the filament wouldn't retract or extract. So I figured I had to get more into it. I wasn't sure how far I would have to take it, so I appreciate you taking the time to post this! Very well done! 😎✌🏻

    Thanks, this helped me fix my clog!
    Tried everything else first and was avoiding disassembling the extruder, but glad I came across this video and even more glad that I did all the different troubleshooting steps, as now I am wayyyy more confident and happy with future issues and fixing them:-D

    Before anyone takes apart the extruder housing, I would first try to see if you clear the nozzle clog with the thin pin and see if you can unload the TPU first (if you haven't tried that already). I thought I would have to go through these steps and/or heat up the filament inside the housing to unclog the TPU. But decided to try the simpler method before I did that. I first heated the nozzle to 250 and stuck the thin pin inside the nozzle. Then I unloaded the filament. I had to pull a bit harder than normal to get it out. But it turns out there was a hardened, deformed piece of TPU in the extruder that caused my clog. I saw this at the end of the filament. I snipped that piece off and reloaded the filament and voila! It is working again!

    THANK YOU !!! You saved me from a 10hr (round trip to the closest Micro Center). It was my last day to return the printer (14 days from purchase). I followed your steps and …. Problem solved. Once again, thanks.

    Thank you for this video. I was doing a print and ran out of filament and could not get new filament to load. I changed the hot end and still no go. Watched your video and took my extruder apart and took out that gear and sure enough, there was a piece of filament in there. Thanks again. You really saved me from pulling my hair out.

    How did you get the cog out my filament is jammed but the cog it’s very hard to pull out

    Just went through this and honestly it took me under 10 minutes watching this video. i spent 3 times longer diddling with it and trying to force it to load new filament. Each time i revert to my ender 3 tactics that got me by with my first printer I waste way longer than just following the guide or youtube video lol. This printer is so easy to work on

    I had the same issue, I had frequent extruder clogs, printing two different harnesses of TPU. BambuLab Support send me a new set of extruder gears. Your gears, have a straight profile, same as my old. The new gears they send me have a helical profile, and it appears to fix my issue. I just printed my first 30D TPU part. Previously I couldn't get past 10th layer with 96A (which is much harder)

    Thank you! Had the same issue and could resolve it. My extruder looked a little bit different compared to yours.

    I have noticed that TPU cloges extruder when You push it to hard and to long when doing "Load" operation.

    If this happens will it still print? I think this is my issue, but I’ve done a few cold pulls and things start ok, but I’ve had 3 clogs in a row now.

    Bambu lab needs an easy clear acsess port to clear clogging so its not a hour long rebuild everytime it happens.

    When was the last time you swapped out your filament blade? It’s recommend that you do it after five rolls. I was having similar issues.

    Hmm. I've had no problems with TPU until today. When printing the 2nd half of a TPU lined, PS5 controller case, I found the print head dancing over an inch over the 2 layers it printed. I was able to pull out the filament from the back, cut the [slightly] mangled filament off, and retry. The same thing happened again, but I couldn't pull the filament out of the back. I'm actually quite surprised at how strong a strand of TPU is...lol. Anyway, I simply took the magnetic cover off, pulled the PTFE tube off, and the printer was able to reverse the filament out like nothing happened. There was only about 4mm of filament that looked like it was squished by the extruder gear somehow.
    Also, a bunch of crap fell out of the print head when the cover was removed (pieces of failed, 3D printed fabric tiles, somehow...wtf), so maybe that was part of the problem? lol. Time to try again...

    I'm trying to print Ninjaflex TPU on the Bambu X1C and it just always fails. Loading the filament (external sppol holder) is no problem but when the prints starts, nothing is coming out... Is it possible at all to print TPU on that printer ??? (I miss my Prusa MK3)

    • @BH4x0r
      @BH4x0r ปีที่แล้ว

      with the external holder, are you sure it got up into the hotend and not stuck somewhere in the reverse bowden?

    i dont think it is just with TPU. I have had the exact same thing with PLA and got the error on the ams that it couldn't retract the filament and after having to tear down the whole thing from hot AMS back to the extruder it was the same type of clog.
    Great video and well done and informative

      Sounds like too much room in the Extruder & it needs to be fixed for a tighter tolerance

    • @bonovoxel7527
      @bonovoxel7527 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup. First time I used the AMS I had Bambu Purple PLA Basic on slot 1 and had troubles, kept the nozzle hot while I was tryn to solve, which I didn't, and so was worried to have a bad clog like that. It turned out to be smaller but enough to make me worry. At least I learned how to disassemble the entire print head and finally installed hardened gears.
      To say that, differently from their P1S upgrade kit, this part is very well designed and eazy to mantain!

    Looks like the tolerance is too open & prone to this problem.
    Seems like they need to tighten up the tolerance in that area.
    Just like the 3D printed extruder part for the CR10s or Ender 3 for TPU printing. It made the tolerance very tight so TPU couldn't bend like that.
    Im guessing you're still having problems or down time with the Bambu, since you haven't posted in a while???

    TPU is hit and miss on every Bambu printer. Some people have success others don’t with same settings and same filament. The first problem is the filament path… too much drag. Need a top mounted spool holder and a small Bowden tube and feed directly into the top like a bed slinger. Second is the extruder design. Dual gear direct drive drive extruders, like the Sprite extruder, from Creality among others do a MUCH better job feeding the filament uniformly without deformation.

    Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand,
    and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you--unless you believed in vain.
    For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,
    that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
    ~1. Corinthians 15:1-4
    God bless you!
