    Hi , do you prefer varnish or resin for finishing your pieces ?

    I want to ensure my added small pieces stick yet don't want a shiny finish. Do I still need to paint on a varnish or will the small pieces stay on?

      Raw clay stick together very well. Haven’t had any trouble with pieces coming off. I wouldn’t worry too much about varnishing if you do not want to.

    I love your work. Do you varnish the back of your clay pieces?

    • @FernMitchHandmade
      @FernMitchHandmade  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you 🥰 I don’t varnish the backs but I do clean it a little with like a fine 3000grit sandpaper.

    Do you think you could talk some more about how you attach your earring posts? I've tried everything from e6000 which just falls off the clay, and blending the posts in with liquid clay then rebaking makes them look so messy :( if you have any tips I'd be really grateful!

      The Loctite super glue I’m using hasn’t failed me. Try sanding the surface down and then add the glue. I do have another technique I use on the tutorial before this one with the “Lemon Slab”. Check that out ☺️

    I love your tutorials, and I have been doing clay for almost 30 years. I have shared on a Facebook, I hope you don’t mind. If I could have your name I could share it too. Thank you for the fun videos. They are a good length, too.

    Thank you for the tutorial! 💜💜 I have a problem with the smallest pieces. Usually when i cut them they bend and deform a little bit. Any tips to avoid it?

    • @FernMitchHandmade

      Try increasing the thickness. Sometimes when the clay is too soft,they get disfigured. Put your pieces in between printer paper to “leech off” som of the oil. Or you can always freeze your slab before cutting. ☺️ I hope this helps
