    Lovely clear and consise tutorial.
    One little note, don't open your jump rings like that. If you twist the edges of the join open away from each other to the left and right instead, they keep their shape much better and you can get a much tighter join when you twist them back to meet each other. This makes them a lot more secure and it looks more professional.
    *Just noticed this tutorial is fairly old so you may have changed the way you do it already 😉

    Question: Do the holes for the jump ring have to be so close to the edge? It seems to me that doing so weakens your earring and it would break out. I guess this just depends on the size of your jump ring, No? Just asking because I don't know.

    After you slice your cube, you roll out a piece of clay to place the slices on. Does that sheet also need to be 1 part translucent to 2 parts igloo, or did you use igloo only?

    in regards to how you glue the back of the earrings ,I have heard that is much bettr to use uv resin instead of glue bc glue will eventually stop working, what are your thoughts about that?

    • @FernMitchHandmade
      @FernMitchHandmade  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far this glue hadn’t given me any problems. Also I mainly use bake and bond or clay covering on my earrings nowadays. I see so many creators swears by resin. I haven’t tried resin since it's a little more out of my budget and the costing will go up for my earrings. But it isn't totally out of my mind 😊 In future I will be trying for sure.

    Love your videos! Thank you for all the detail. I tried making these earlier today but unfortunately I ended up with more of a marbled effect than a vein effect. I used a gold bronzer instead of the Aztec gold. Any idea why this didn’t work for me? Did I use too much clay adhesive maybe?

    • @FernMitchHandmade
      @FernMitchHandmade  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That happens to me as well! There is a really thin line between marble and vein techniques. Lol I think when you cut your cane a little too a thick as it goes through the pasta machine it just distorts. I sometimes do it deliberately. Also you can sand the surface of your pieces and it will sand off any extra powder left on the surface. I hope this helps 😊

    Any tips on how to get rid of little bubbles after baking?I bake 30 min at 275F. Am I over or under-baking?? Is there something I'm missing?

    • @FernMitchHandmade
      @FernMitchHandmade  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only way to get rid of air bubbles after baking is sanding. To do surface sanding, use the wet sanding method starting from 1000grit sandpaper going all the way up to 3000grit.
      For baking one hour is recommended in 275F. This way ensures the pieces are well cured. I personally use 225F because my oven is really old and temperature fluctuates a lot. I recommend you get a thermometer. It’s really trial and error with baking. Before you bake your main pieces bake a sample piece and try bending it. If it’s flexible without baking, you cured it successfully. I hope this helps. Good luck 🥰

And of cause after the oven come to desired temperature, I maintain it by using a thermometer. Apparently this way it helps the clay to not to be in shock when exposed to a hot temperature. Amazing video !!! 🤩 one question : how to flatten the clay from minute 4:52 to 4:54?

    • @FernMitchHandmade
      @FernMitchHandmade  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sorry if it wasn’t clear in the video. I simply ran it through my pasta machine gradually going down in thickness. I went to about 3mm thickness

      Nicole Ow oh no 😫 I clean mine after every use with some rubbing Alcohol. I just store it in a pencil holder with all my frequently used tools. So far so good. Just keep it clean I guess

    How do you not stick the clay on the table?

    • @FernMitchHandmade
      @FernMitchHandmade  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I work on surfaces like tile, glass or baking paper. If it sticks, use a tissue blade and carefully separate it.

      When mixing be careful not to mix so much that the powder will be inside the clay. We just want the outside to be coated. Thank you so much 🥰

    Hi may I know the name of the colour after the white colour clay you put in first 2 min of the video as the second colour? Is it just normal polymer clay? Thanks

    • @FernMitchHandmade

      The colour I added to the white (soufflé igloo)? It’s Premo translucent.

      You can use the same technique on air dry clay. Polymer clay must be baked in order to harden
