Tried a bike mechanic just put another dent in my trust issues. Initially I brought the bike only to adjust both derailleurs and was quoted 15 euros (I was totally new to cycling). Next day when collecting the bike, they gave me a 60+ euro bill of replacing the gear cables, swapped my inner tube (clamed it was punctured) and 2 more things I forgot. They said they couldn't find my phone number, which I immediately showed them on top of the receipt. The bike was only 3 months old and was bought from a different branch of another city. After that, I started buying the maintenance and TLC kits and learned how to do everything by myself. Your videos (and other youtube channels) are very helpful for riders like me 🙏
I ride a 1999 Gazelle Goldline Démax, with a lovely Reynolds 531 frame (trapezi, specially made for Gazelle). It's pearl white, gloss finish with red Gazelle decals, and blue and red accents. With an Ultegra 6800 groupset and hand-built wheels (DT411 & White Industries T11 hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes; it's a killer bike. A dream to ride.
My Giant Propel is a purple/black fade in matt. My Giant Revolt is a dark metallic purple glossy. Great service, owner takes great care of their bike 🙌😎🇫🇮
I have a Dolan e'tape. Looks a similar age to that Ares, but where it's red, mine is green. white for the single speed commuter. Never ever buy a white for a bike that's gonna get ignored. On the plus side, no-one has attempted to nick it yet. Nice work on the Dolan.
Wonderful as always! As for my bikes : - 2011 Giant Roam XR1 (bought second-hand in 2018) , my 'rainy day bike' (>20.000 km's) - 2020 Canyon Ultimate CF SL 7 rim brake "true grey" , my 'nice weather bike' (7500 km's) I love both, different
Lee, Simon thanks for sharing. Brilliant job as usual. Love that colour scheme. I ride a matt grey and white Giant Escape and a gloss black Merida Speeder.
Top quality service, excellent. I currently ride a pastel blue with gloss carbon finish. next one will be a metallic pearl white which I have always wanted. :-)
I have a blue Ribble, titanium Enigma and matt black Ribble. I quickly got fed up with the matt so I t-cut and polished it to a satin/semi gloss. Looks much better! Love those SRAM Red brakes by the way.
Be good to know rough cost for such work. Also be good to see reviews on the tools you use. Love the idea with grease in the syringes. Would love to know the different types and what you recommend for each part.
It's gleaming 👌if it was mine I would be removing them edco graphics off them deep sections (to much going on🤔)used to ride a hand built Dolan Columbus slx with Dura ace, cinelli bars&stem, turbo saddle, mavic ma 40s.the frame was airbrushed Italian style 👌love painted frames so I can polish untill my heart's content 😁🚴keep the passion going lads
8:48 Great advice right here, definitely grease the bearing sleeve before you put in a bearing, I’ve seen bearings catch and bend the sleeves or cause other damage because people try to force them. Adding grease removes the friction and allows a well seated bearing.
Another beautiful service. Great job Lee. A timely service i reckon. Those old bearings in desperate need of replacement. Lovely colourscheme and grand polish job. My best bike is Fairlight Strael ,colour putty. Its a lovely bike. Fitted a GRX 46/30 chainset as 50/34 too tall. Looking foreward to next Wednesdays installment
Great service as always guys ! Riding a blue cinelli gravel bike which doubles as a road bike and a bright orange giant alx mtb at the moment ! Love shiny paint jobs ! The brighter the better 👍
Ah, Bikespeeds time again. Lovely bike that Dolan. I too prefer gloss paint. I have bikes in gloss yellow, red/orange, white, and burgundy; metallic blue and grey; gloss-coated raw carbon; and matte brown and green. At some point I might see what happens if I give the matte green a polish.
Again a lovely job. Only thing with this one you should have included a before and after sound bite of the crank and hub. Just let it spin 😀 My gravel bike is a mat grey. So probably not your taste even with the brown leather seat and handelbar tape. But my boardman AiR TT is a gloss black with yellow on the inside of the fork and inside the rear triangle. It even has some red details which fits me as I am german. 🇩🇪 but of course the bike is also rocking the 🇬🇧 as it is designed in the UK
Definitely a fan of matte coloured frames. I'm on a yellow, purple, black/white cross bike! My MTB is blue, but only because of accessories. It's incredible how you can change the colour of a bike from just pedals, grips, and a few small details like chainring bolts and seatclamp.
Fabulous service Lee and Simon and wow, that frame just pops out, I'm a huge fan of shiny bike too. Riding a Gloss Grey Defy with white and yellow accents - love a bit of ceramic spray on it too. Thanks again for such great content and for continuing to respond to all our questions
It’s really hard to capture the depth of the shine on camera they always look better in person, as you’ll know with the ceramic spray. Thanks for all the kind words as always, currently 45 minutes into the comments so it keeps us going!🧡
Completely agree - Hate the trend of matte frames, Gloss frames with clear coated carbon and some colour are so much nicer to own. I’ve got a Cipollini Bond in gloss and yellow love how good it looks clean - Great videos keep it up!
Initially when gloss frames came out they were a “one off” in the shop but now they’re most bikes so it’s rare to see something gloss! Love the gloss yellow 🧡
What a lovely job guys and I had a sram group set once on a bike and it was brilliant. Current bikes one is gloss and one is Matt and got to be honest I probably wouldn’t get another bike with a Matt paint finish.
I’ve been told not use grease when pressing in bearing as they might slip and create noise when under load. Instead, I use bearing retainer like locatite 638 and never had a creaking BB anymore.
I have a few bikes right now. The only paint jobs I don't really love are those pastel colors on some 90s mtb 😅. Other than that, most color schemes are ok. Metallic flakes are mesmerizing but only pop out if the bike is very clean... which is about 30min every month or so in my case. Thanks for the video... that's the first time I see four bearings on a rear wheel!
Nice bike in the first place to fantastic bike after the work. Would be really nice to see some customer reactions. p.s. I have a matt green giant reign with matt invis film. Plus a black specialized sirrus hybrid from 2012 👍
I've got a 2016 Giant Revolt 1 and I'm not a fan of it's matt finish. I would like to get it professionally resprayed but the cost is a problem in these times we live in. I also have a 1987 or 1988 Saracen Blizzard mountain bike which is white with pink cables, after polishing it I can't see much difference as the paint is old and faded but that Dolan looks great after a decent polish
Beauty job. Not a knock on your work, but I noticed you used pliers to pull the spring back into place @ 5:20. I am no expert but I personally will wrap string around the spring to pull it back into place so that I'm not marking up or damaging the spring itself with the teeth of pliers. Such a minor detail but I felt you may appreciate it.. again not a criticism just an observation! Love the videos!! Keep it up!!
Marin san Rafael ds1 700c black and silver gloss, specialized rock hopper 29 inch red black white striped, and mid 90's specialized hardrock 26 inch blue with mixed colors.
Really enjoyed this one. 99% of the bearing work I do is cup and cone, so it's fun to see some pressed in for a change. My bike is the opposite of colourful I'm afraid 😂 matt midnight blue with black wheels and spokes! But I do have some nice bright blue Hope hubs and considering adding something else along those lines. Thanks for another great video.
I'd agree with the mix of color and carbon weave look on frames. Great job on the hub rebuild, what are the properties of the DT grease? is it lighter weight than the Shimano green grease?
Nice one yet again, re frame colour both of mine are red and black but not by design, it was just what was available. A quick question, when I take a cassette off I get all obsessed about putting the spacers back in the same order as they came off, is that correct or just a bit ocd ?
Lovely job. What wheels are they? My Giant tcr2 2020 is Metallic Red. Really pops in the sun. Especially when just serviced with That same shine you used.
Tried a bike mechanic just put another dent in my trust issues. Initially I brought the bike only to adjust both derailleurs and was quoted 15 euros (I was totally new to cycling). Glad you could get something from the videos 🧡
Very therapeutic viewing guys 👍
As always our pleasure 🧡⚙️
My titanium Van Nicholas is very shiny. Love it.
Awesome! Something different!🧡⚙️
Fabulous job. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Thanks Aidan!🧡🇮🇪
SRAM Red 22 - the lightest groupset and very overlooked, great in its day and still great today!
We don’t see much of it but haven’t had any bad experiences with what we have had🧡
Sram Red was always my favorite (even over eTap).
What a bike that is! Belter.
It was awesome!🧡
orange gloss & matt black carbon
Perfect mix 🧡
A SRAM mechanical! Never seen one before. I can see why this was a little more fun to work on
Always nice to do something different! Thanks very much for watching🧡⚙️
Sram 10 speeds are anything but fun to work on lol
Sram Red 22 mechanical,superb
I ride a 1999 Gazelle Goldline Démax, with a lovely Reynolds 531 frame (trapezi, specially made for Gazelle). It's pearl white, gloss finish with red Gazelle decals, and blue and red accents. With an Ultegra 6800 groupset and hand-built wheels (DT411 & White Industries T11 hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes; it's a killer bike. A dream to ride.
That’s an awesome spec!
Because of pandemic, I could only get a black and gray frame from Giant... would LOVE to have something with that red and white, gorgeous bike!
We love colour for sure🧡
My Ribble 872 is Teal blue and shiny! Went out today for the 1st time in ages and it was ace! Like your vids.😁
Love the sound of that. We don’t see many blue bikes🧡
That was very satisfying to watch. I thought that was your best video I've seen. Excellent job!
Wow thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed this specific one 🧡
Magic job. the owner should be very pleased ,no more resistance training with those new bearings.
It should ride a lot smoother! Thanks again🧡
I have a Jamis Xenith SL, also with SRAM Red, in this same red, black, and white colourway. Another great job mate.
Awesome!🧡⚙️
Scarlet boardman. The more colour a bike has the better. 90s paint on frames was the best.
We’re living in the 90’s era ourselves so think similarly!🧡⚙️
Your devotion, quality of work and the simplicity makes the videos very intresting.
Thanks very much! We appreciate your support🧡
@@Bikespeeds, you are most Welcome.
Love Red 22 - Classic
We were impressed with it!🧡⚙️
As new, another great video, thanks Lee and Simon
Thanks very much again!🧡⚙️
Gorgeous bike, fantastic groupset as well.
Really nice spec🧡
Going up to Dolan in April. I feel a new bike coming on :)
@Tarmaccyclocross I'm getting on a bit now, so thinking Tuono. Booked in for a fit on the 12th. :) Nice bikes though
Awesome! Have fun🧡
What a beautiful road bike awesome . I ride MTB and road bikes 🚴🏼 🚵♂️ love watching your videos.
Glad you like them! Thanks very much Paul🧡
Nice bike which needed a few issues solved. Thanks to Bikespeeds, it’s ready for the road. Nice job as always.
Definitely a few issues with this one! Thanks as always 🧡⚙️
Great video as always!!!
And thank you as always Tom🧡
Matte black everything... 🤘🏼
Stealth mode!🧡⚙️
It's the passion!I like it ❤
Thank you Alex!🧡
Definitely the glossy ones. Great fan of all shades of black/dark-sky-blue/white combinations.
i’ve rawed my hardtail and polished it 🤙🤙
Awesome!
The colour is BITCHING! sucker for bright colourful frames good video guys!
It was a real wow frame once it polished up. Thanks for stopping by again!🧡
My Giant Propel is a purple/black fade in matt. My Giant Revolt is a dark metallic purple glossy. Great service, owner takes great care of their bike 🙌😎🇫🇮
Best of both worlds!🧡💜
I have a Dolan e'tape. Looks a similar age to that Ares, but where it's red, mine is green.
white for the single speed commuter. Never ever buy a white for a bike that's gonna get ignored. On the plus side, no-one has attempted to nick it yet.
Nice work on the Dolan.
Awesome!🧡⚙️
Honestly every time Bikespeeds releases a new video it feels like Christmas
Haha thank you very much from both of us🧡
Good work again this week! Congrats on 20K Subs!
Thanks Ivory! Always appreciate you stopping by🧡
Stellar job Mr.Lee and a typically beautiful BikeSpeeds edit as ever Simon.
Much much appreciated!🧡⚙️
Lovely bike, that frame is really nice. I've got a black and yellow Boardman with the old style logo which I like better than the new one.
Cant beat a popping yellow!🧡
Another great video, thanks. Kudos to Simon too.
Thanks from the both of us!🧡⚙️
Wonderful as always!
As for my bikes :
- 2011 Giant Roam XR1 (bought second-hand in 2018) , my 'rainy day bike' (>20.000 km's)
- 2020 Canyon Ultimate CF SL 7 rim brake "true grey" , my 'nice weather bike' (7500 km's)
I love both, different
Very nice selection there!🧡
Nice work. I ride a matt red bike 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome! Like a bit of colour🧡⚙️
Lee, Simon thanks for sharing. Brilliant job as usual. Love that colour scheme. I ride a matt grey and white Giant Escape and a gloss black Merida Speeder.
Best of both worlds! Thanks for the kind words 🧡
Excellent videos.
Your pride in your work shines through.
Thanks very much for the support!🧡⚙️
Top quality service, excellent. I currently ride a pastel blue with gloss carbon finish. next one will be a metallic pearl white which I have always wanted. :-)
Both of those sound lovely! Especially the blue🧡
That is a beautiful frame.
I’m using Sram force 1x mechanical 12 speed, very nice
Awesome! Something different 🧡
I have a blue Ribble, titanium Enigma and matt black Ribble. I quickly got fed up with the matt so I t-cut and polished it to a satin/semi gloss. Looks much better! Love those SRAM Red brakes by the way.
What a delightful service.
Thanks Gregory from both of us!🧡⚙️
Great results guys...was always a fan of autoglym resin.....but the ceramic spray to finish off is a brilliant idea..thanks👍🏻
We like it!🧡⚙️
Top of the range workmanship, love it.
Thanks very much!🧡⚙️
Be good to know rough cost for such work. Also be good to see reviews on the tools you use. Love the idea with grease in the syringes. Would love to know the different types and what you recommend for each part.
Love these videos keep up the amazing work boys
Thanks Ian we really appreciate it!🧡⚙️
Great job and a beautiful bike
Thank you!🧡⚙️
Better than new. Excellent work. Thank you for your time.
Thanks for dropping us a comment billy we always appreciate it!🧡

We were not sure how well the Dolan would perform as a video but it seems a lot of you have owned and enjoyed them!🧡⚙️
What a excelent work 👏👏👍
Thanks very much Juan🧡⚙️💪🏼
I’m dying to know how the wheel sounded after that BEAUTIFUL overhaul. Well done.
Loud! Loud in a good way. Thanks very much 🧡⚙️
I love the deep gloss metallic wine red of my 2020 Defy Advanced 1. It polishes up to a great finish.
We love a red frame!🧡
Lovely job 🎉
Thank you!🧡⚙️
Very good 🙂
Thanks David!🧡⚙️
Nice job, great to watch the videos. I now take better care of my bikes, a Felt F95 Argos Shimano Team Issue and a Specialized Camber FSR 29
Enjoy them!🧡
8:48 Great advice right here, definitely grease the bearing sleeve before you put in a bearing, I’ve seen bearings catch and bend the sleeves or cause other damage because people try to force them. Adding grease removes the friction and allows a well seated bearing.
My bike is grey gloss with black gloss decals 😍

I was always told not to grease the paw’s in the hud as they my stick down🇬🇧👍

I have SRAM Force on my gravel bike and it is stellar and I’ve found it pretty easy to tune.
We agree!🧡⚙️

Nice bikes! Thanks for watching🧡
I had to swap out my hub bearings in my EDC bike the other day, they werethe point I’d swap out skateboard bearings
Can't beat the colour of Titanium.
i got both and love them equally no favourites (yes giant you arent no1)
this bike was found on the titanic?)) bearings killed in drool
Haha, no just some flooded roads at the end of last year!
I've got a 2016 Giant Revolt 1 and I'm not a fan of it's matt finish. I would like to get it professionally resprayed but the cost is a problem in these times we live in. Lovely! Old and new is always the perfect combo🧡
I love a gloss bike.. mine is red/pink/maroon! Can you do one episode just for polishing the bike
Awesome!🧡
Great video was wondering what is the hub press tool you used for the bearings in the hub?
nice vid man
Thank you!🧡
Nice, but I would have done the headset and seat post as well
Dont touch the seat post! 😮….and the headstock bearings where OK
My foxter ft301 is glossy black with orange and gray decals,
Awesome!🧡⚙️
Lava red with black forks
Coooooool🧡⚙️

My hybrid is matte grey/silver, and my mtb is charcoal colored 😊😊
Sounds good!🧡⚙️
Shiny bronze Goldy color. I would love to show!
Awesome! Something a bit unique 🧡
👍
We Appreciate it james 🧡⚙️
What was that press fit BB removal tool? Looks so easy to use.
Marin san Rafael ds1 700c black and silver gloss, specialized rock hopper 29 inch red black white striped, and mid 90's specialized hardrock 26 inch blue with mixed colors.
Hi, just curious why the headsets are not required servicing in this instance? Thanks
We do like seeing the “stealth” bikes but they’ve taken over so much it’s rarer to have a coloured one now!🧡
I'd agree with the mix of color and carbon weave look on frames. Great job on the hub rebuild, what are the properties of the DT grease? is it lighter weight than the Shimano green grease?
It's actually the wrong grease, it's for ratchet dt swiss hubs not pawls. It's quite a bit too thick for pawls.
It’s a very nice grease. We simply didn’t use Shimano as it wasn’t a Shimano hub so resorted to our trust DT Swiss🧡
Not a fan of matte paint on bikes. Guess I'm old school but I find it very hard to maintain. All of my bikes are gloss 😁
We don’t mind matte but it’s a trend that’s almost took over the new bike industry so it’s a treat to have something bright in!🧡
How come the pedals haven’t been removed prior to cleaning?
Nice one yet again, re frame colour both of mine are red and black but not by design, it was just what was available. A quick question, when I take a cassette off I get all obsessed about putting the spacers back in the same order as they came off, is that correct or just a bit ocd ?
It depends, some bikes have different widthed spacers then it’s very important so its most of the time over kill but never bad practice🧡⚙️
Hi guys. What brand of chain whip do you use? Cheers.
No idea off the top of my head! I’ve had that tool almost 11 years, we do sell a park tool one on our website www.bikespeeds.com/shop however!🧡
Lovely job. What wheels are they?
My Giant tcr2 2020 is Metallic Red. Really pops in the sun. Especially when just serviced with That same shine you used.
We don’t actually know what wheel-set was on this! Metallic red is a great colour🧡⚙️
que belleza por dios
Awesome work and very fun to watch.
Just curious as to why the headset / fork didn't get disassembled as the rest?
The bearings on the headset were absolutely fine so it’s just to save the customer on work it doesn’t need🧡
