    I honestly think the gel top coat defeats the purpose of dip powders. Having to cure it is not something I want to do. I don't have any issues with gel allergies or sensitivity, but I do get the dip flu. Mine is in my sinuses and make me feel like I have a bad cold. I purchased a nail fan and I wear a mask when I do my nails and now I don't have any problems. I'm glad this works for you, but I will stick with regular dip liquids. Thank you so much for sharing!

      Totally understand!! I have started to use a fan as well. In FL I never really experienced dip flu but we also always had the AC running and fans on. When we moved to MD I started to experience dip flu. It took me a while to realize what was happening! My throat got super sore, my head hurt and my body felt like crud. It would last like 3 days or so. I finally realized it was in conjunction with filming! In MD I work downstairs so not a whole lot of air circulation. It’s crazy how much that plays such a big role! I’ll be very curious to see if revel launches an odorless dip top coat in the future 🤔

    As someone who gets dip flu and has a gel allergy, I’m a bit disappointed that they opted for a gel top coat instead of a dip top coat. I even have reactions to hema free gel products, so unless they sell the other 2 liquids separately, I will not be able to use them 🤷🏻‍♀️

      I don't have gel allergies, but I am not very good with gel, so I don't like using it a lot. I, too, would have loved to have seen a non-gel top coat. I wonder if you could use other kinds of top coats. I can see that the activator and base would have to go together, but why would the top coat matter?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@lynnl6979 such a great question! 🫶🏻 so the activator is what hardens the base liquid (not the dip powder) and it’s also what makes the top coat dry and set properly too! It’s why I choose not to using rubbing alcohol or wash my hands after applying the 2nd coat of activator because it’s needed for the top coat. From my understanding it’s formulated for the odorless base BUT it’s definitely a great theory of trying it with a regular dip top coat! I did see someone ask in the revel group about using their regular top coat with it and their response was more so explaining how that defeats the purpose of the “odorless” aspect. I do need to try it out! I also plan to try using the base as a top coat too (which they advised against).

    The base coat is def something to get used to, I poured my powder over it and it didn’t stick to it evenly so I wonder if I should dip my finger in the powder, I’m okay with the gel top coat :)

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That can be for a few reasons! It could be that the base liquid dried before you were able to get the powder on the nail. This can happen from having a fan running near by or not applying enough liquid on the nail. It can also be that the nail was too smooth. You could also try to apply a layer of the base liquid and let it dry. THEN go in for a layer of the base liquid and pour/dip into the powder. The first layer of dried base liquid will help the next layer go on evenly 🩷

    I have a couple of questions: How come you brushed off with a soft brush; don't you normally use a stiff brush to remove loose powder? Also, you did not use a coat of clear on top of colour, is this not necessary with this liquid? Personally, I am ok with a gel top coat but it does assume that everyone has a lamp at home or means you have to spend more money purchasing a lamp. Nice to see more companies moving into odourless products though and a great video - thanks.

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a great question! So from my understanding, I believe that some darker shades have trouble curing properly when combined with gel base coat. Again, just from what I’ve heard it’s due to the dark shade not fully curing with the gel base. I’ve seen others suggest curing longer than 60 sec for the gel base step when using dark colors. With this set because it’s still a regular dip base, I don’t think you’d have that issue!

      🙈 I will try filing more next time, I think I did a pretty superficial filing because I’m not used to doing it with dip liquids! I was just worried about damaging my natural nails, a long time ago when I did all gel manicures my nails got so thin and weak! But I guess if I just file down till I barely see color it should be ok?
      Overall I really love this liquid set, no dip flu x 2! So happy!!!

      I have been dealing with dip flu since we’ve moved to MD over summer. It seems to be due to the lack of air circulation in comparison to fans/AC always running in FL. I didn’t have any irritation from these liquids and I left them on for about 1.5 weeks before soaking off to film. I also just purchased an air purifier that sits on my desk to help when I use regular liquids. I’ve done 2 manicures so it’s too early to tell but so far no dip flu symptoms 🙌🏼

    How about the usual 2 steps of activator? Only activate once with this method?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep exactly! The 2nd layer of activator is for a traditional dip top coat. Since this uses gel, you don’t need the 2nd activator step 🫶🏻

    Good morning Chelsea 🤗 I hear about dip flu I'm curious how do you get dip flu ?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiii Norma! 🫶🏻 dip flu is a reaction that some have to dip powder liquids. It’s typically from the odor of the base coat and top coat. It can leave you feeling like you have a cold (sore throat, headache, congestion etc). So this liquid line was created as an odorless option to help those who have a reaction to regular dip liquids 🥰

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually have!! It started recently when we moved to MD. I believe it’s because I went from FL where AC is always circulating and I had fans on in the house. Then I moved to MD and don’t have fans or air circulating as much in my nail nook. I couldn’t figure out what was going on at first. My throat tightened up and I felt like crud for like 3+ days then it would stop. Then it would happen again and I realized it was tied to each time I’d film! I stuck my face up to the base and didn’t smell anything! If you do give it a try please let me know how it goes 🫶🏻
