    Nail tech here! It's not likely you have an allergy - you just have over exposure to chemicals (dip liquids, uncured gel). A lot of folks get dip liquid on their skin by not brushing the dip liquids on their nails carefully, or they have exposure to uncured gel by using their nails/finger pads to remove uncured gel from their sidewalls. Other folks get issues when their tech constantly swipes monomer all over their cuticle and sidewalls during service. It's *super* *SUPER* important not to get that stuff (or primer, pH bonder, monomer - any nail liquids period; powder is inert, the liquid does the chemical reaction) on your skin, or you will eventually develop a sensitivity, and for some, full blown contact dermatitis that prevents you from using all gel/acrylic nail products period. It doesn't matter the product - if you get HEMA free products on your skin over and over, you'll eventually develop the same issues. Doesn't matter the finger/skin location either - once you have contact dermatitis, it's just waiting to flair up, there's really no going back. Regular nail polish doesn't require 'curing' with a light or other product (solvents evaporate on their own) so it's usually the exception, but not always.
    Dip flu (respiratory-wise) is due to not having adequate ventilation when using dip liquids meant to bind polymers (acrylic). Like how an unventilated acrylic nail salon make folks sick or causes a runny nose/sore throat, when you are exposing yourself to dip liquid vapors up close (most people bend down towards their nails while working) you are inhaling all those vapors directly, as if you were whiffing from the bottle. It's almost like using oil-based sealer inside, real bad. Some people are more sensitive this than others, so not everyone has the same reaction. Since I don't have adequate ventilation (moving air/air changes) in my room while doing my own nails, I opt for gel dip manicures. I think that the best recommendation for most people at home. Some people like the concentrated look of dip with the liquids - you can obtain the same effect by mixing a few dots of gel/builder gel with the dip powder and brushing it on with a gel brush to get the same effect. Sorry for the long post - hopefully this helps others in the audience as well!

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When I am using peel base I prep my nails like normal - push back my cuticles, dehydrator, then peel base. But if I want them to last - push back cuticles, rough up the nail, dehydrator, then primer 🙌🏼 the primer really does help the product grab onto the nail. Peel base is for super easy pop off removal. Typically only last a few days but it keeps me from having to soak off ☺️

      @@SipAndDip that is what I thought! I do the same prep under BG, then do my peel base over that, then dip....I want to try using the gel with dip when it comes out, but I didn't think you would do the prep and primer on peel base....thanks for clarifying!!😊🤗

    LOVE LOVE LOVE your ideas and tutorials. Is it possible to do a French with Dip tutorial? I am using the dip tray and so far it's working out good, but I find the white part of the French is not as white as I would like, since I dip my finger back into the pink at the end before filing the surface. I tried some "clear" as a last step before curing but it also hides the white more than I would like. Suggestions? I just used your link to purchase the ONE liquid, it looks great.

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have actually been asked this quite a few times so I need to film this and give it a try 🙌🏼 so let’s see if we can figure this out! 💕 after you dip your tip of the nail in the white, then you dip into pink? How about if you try dipping your tip into the white and then pouring over the pink? Is your white a bright white or more off white? 💕

    • @patriot5548
      @patriot5548 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SipAndDip I did the base, then dipped into the pink, then repeated using the dip tray so I got the perfect smile line and then dipped into the pink again. Repeat until you get the coverage you want, but the white is UNDER the pink rather than being really bright. My white is bright white. I use this really nifty dip tray as well that has a guide for the finger so the white goes on perfectly. Found it on Amazon. Makartt dip tray. You do have to put a lot of white product into it, but after using the white standard tray, this one turns out to be a perfect "smile" line. I would love to have the white foremost but even if using clear, it dulls it. Thanks, I am so excited to see what you come up with. I learned so much from you and it's so appreciated. LOVE using the gel over the traditional way since this product does not dry out and it stay's workable for a while as you indicate. I have 3 bottles of half used dip solution that went bad, and this new method takes care of that. THANK YOU

    That's scary to know that nails can come off with this DIY nail habit. Do you mean that your natural nail removed itself the nail plate!

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes exactly! My natural nail started lifting away from the nail plate. The medical term is onycholysis I believe! My fingers also feel sore and tender. Many people that have a gel allergy have a skin reaction. So red, itchy, inflamed skin. Very scary!
