    1. Come to work.

    What I like about Patek is that the reason of it being expensive is about the craftsmanship, complexity and detail not just because it contains a lot of expensive precious stones. The essence of watch-making is being valued.

    Corrections: 1. Not all PP watches are application watches. 2. Not all PP watches are rare .. you can walk into any PP salon and buy any watch they currently have on sale , yes you will most likely not get the rare pieces but they do have some that are not that rare that you can find in the boutique.

    I remember Patek Philippe from The Thomas Crown Affair with Steve McQueen. Something like 1968 or 69. I've wanted one ever since.
    You know God has a sense of humor when you have Patek Philippe taste and a Timex income.

    • @matthewburden9403

      Thomas Crown in 1967 (when the movie was filmed) did not wear a Patek Philippe. He wore an 18ct Jaegar-LeCoultre Memovox automatic cal. 855 that is just as good. I have the Patek Calatrava with the cal. 215 movement and wish Timex still made the more practical wind-up that listed for $11 when I was a kid. I will give you a thumb's though.

      "Masculine elegance has never found a more pure expression than in the film’s first scene. Here, Crown checks his gold Patek Philippe pocket watch, which is hung double-Albert style with a fob drop."
      "Other than the Patek Philippe pocket watch, McQueen’s wrist sports two other noteworthy timepieces in the film. The first is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox and the second, that many consider to the definitive gentleman’s watch, and in this case, the perfect match to McQueen’s on screen ensemble, the Cartier Tank Cintrée."
      -- revolutionwatch(CopDom), August 3, 2020, Thomas Crown’s Affair with Style and Timepieces

    I could not agree more with Mike on this one. This watch isn't simply a watch. It is a priceless heirloom, meticulously crafted by Patek Phillipe and his assistant, Jesus Christ. Patek's affiliate company, Les Pretentious Doux, supplies Patek and Jesus with only the finest gold, silver, platinum, diamonds and unicorn tears to assemble these timeless works of art. The wrist band is made from dragonscale and minotaur hide and was saddle-stitched by Abraham Lincoln... postmortem. The centerpiece is forged purely from platinum and the souls of starved children; children who didn't deserve to eat because they did not have one of these classic gems. Perhaps the greatest feature of this watch is its time-telling feature. The good people at Patek wanted to ensure that their customers have only the finest watches when they decide to not give anyone else the time... and why would they? It's their time, not that lowly cretin's. This watch's value is unparalleled and makes a great addition to any collection of jewelry, accessories, clothing or Nazi memorabilia. At just over $100,000, there has never been an easier way to say, "I am better than you and you know it."

    This is one of the best attempts at high end ego-stroking I have seen in a long time. The narrator has a highly developed skill in delivery and the underlying references to elitism and narcissism together with carefully crafted visual imagery are used as foreplay before the beautifully timed references to resale values reassure the prospective owner that when they tire of their toy they are in with a chance of turning a profit when they dispose of it in favour of some new affirmation of themselves.
    Very well done Alux.

    This is in need of an update.
    The $24m paid for a Patek in this video has been surpassed this year (2019) by another sold at auction for over $31m
    Queen Elizabeth the 2nd is missing from the list of owners and she has more than one.
    Her Majesty wore a Patek at her Coronation in 1953.

    13. "...they also do not participate in product placement for film or television."
    No, but it was mentioned on Entourage season 4 episode 12, where Billy Walsh
    receives a Rolex as a gift, but says
    "I could accept it, but I got a gold Rolex from my parents for high school graduation.
    But I love that Patek Phillipe your're rocking."
    And get's it later from a guy who wants to buy his movie.

    i still dont get why the term 'hand finished' and 'handmade' is used to describe an object of higher quality when in reality, human hands are far less precise than machines.

    • @ecxstasy347
      @ecxstasy347 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vincent Ivan Tanaya I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be taken as ‘higher quality’ per se but it definitely means that a lot of time and effort was put into creating the watch. I do understand and agree with what you are saying though.

      because we are social animals and we value what other people make and more what it took them to make it (the struggles, the suffering). If you want to go to a dark place you could imagine selling your only childs, that died in some tragic turn of events, only painting for 100 million dollars.

    Not so much an application but a lot models do require to be put on a wait list, with the 2019 ones being up to 5 years and being a previous customer of the AD.
    I do remember that the Sky Moon Tourbillon required a application and interview by the Sterns to be put on a two year waiting list, same as the Ferrari Testarossa...

    Why would you put Rolex and Cartier in the same sentence lol? Cartier is more of a fashion brand if you're just looking at their watches even though they do have a nice heritage in regards to that.. Should have paired Rolex with IWC, Vacheron Constantin, Omega or something of the like.

    Thank you ALUX, I do appreciate the information about this brand, can you do one about Breitling👍

    • @LHswe
      @LHswe 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would say Breitling's are for two groups of people 1. People looking for a watch to last them a lifetime with the economy to reflect the purchase price 2. People who are willing to spend several months salary on a watch as a statement of wealth that does not reflect their actual economic status.
      I own two Breitlings and it is a brand tainted by a lower class who try to flaunt their "apparent riches" with this brand, shame for a brand with an otherwise great reputation.

    • @Ytremz
      @Ytremz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LHswe "Tainted by a lower class" what a vile thing to write.

    • @LHswe
      @LHswe 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No-one said the world was anything different, snowflake.
      Classes are a social construct and don't necessarily have intrinsic value but the reality is what it is and why we value brands are because of what they represent. To buy something of distinct class is an attempt to elevate one's perception in the eye's of others.
      The "class" a potion of the high end watch market, in particular Breitling and Rolex seems to attract is that of the low income "class" who buy a watch for up to a years salary to give the appearance of wealth.
      There is sometime's and overlap between a true aficionado and those who simply wan't to flaunt their "wealth".
      Capitalism is a load of social trickery to create value judgement on arbitrary measurements of materialistic affluence, but it is one you've bought in to, by no less than clicking on this video, so you can pretend not to be a part of this "vile" system, but that is all you would be doing is pretending not to see things for what they are.

      I know a guy who is a big Breitling collector and admits he sold a swath of his collection when the flaunters started up now he only keeps his historic and precious models like the L19022 and the J49350 but day to day he still has a titanium Avenger to take a beating...he makes almost £3million a year

    Patek is an absolute luxury. When one wears a Patek, that person is an absolute wealthy chic. That person doesn't need to prove anything. It's all in the Patek. It is priced more expensive than a human soul 😂. Patek Philippe is the most expensive watch label, followed by Audemars Piguet, then Vacheron Constantin. No other watch label could be more exclusive as these three
