TIP: If you get errors when trying to convert an EXS, don't despair: most likely, the errors are just Decent Sampler complaining that it can't open the samples, but the conversion will still have taken place. To troubleshoot this, save the preset out to a file and look at it in a text editor. Check to make sure that the paths look right in the tags.
Another thing to note: some EXS files make use of audio formats that Decent Sampler doesn't support (Apple's proprietary CAF format, for example). You can still do the conversion, but you will have to find a way to batch convert your CAF sample files to either WAV or AIFF format (formats that DS can read).

Tip. Check out Pamela's new workout. I got many modules, but when I got Pam's I wondered why I hadn't bought this before as it is so useful, fast and easy to understand and use, many functions and 8 outputs. I think this still is my favourite modules. If you find this intrusive, sorry.

This is a-maz-ing. the capabilities of Decent Sampler are growing exponentially! as a long time programmer, i am really impressed you were able to figure out enough of the EXS file format to make an EXS->DS converter - must have been a ton of (detective and trial-and-error) work. thanks for all your hard work, it is appreciated!

I'm continually and repeatedly blown away by what a sea change Decent Sampler has been and continues to be in the world of sampling and music production. Great software, great video, and a great instrument. Thanks again, David!

Just begun my Decent Sampler journey, thank you for creating this David and for you amazing videos. I'm very excited to get in to creating some DS instruments and posting them on Piano Book. The possibilities seem endless!

I cannot overstate how incredibly useful this video is for me! Ive been wanting to get into sampling, having dabbled with the Logic Sampler, but figured Decent Sampler would be the way forward when it comes to actually distributing any libraries online. I was very intimidated by the learning curve though, so discovering it can play nicely with EXS files is HUGE news!
Well. I know how I'm spending the next few months 😊
    Thank you!

All your info was amazing. Thanks. Also, the icing on the cake was when you grabbed a location in finder and dragged it into the location in the save dialog! around 10:50. I'm using that!

Hi David! Big fan of your work and decent sampler format, I think you will like Ornament & Crime (specifically the Hemispheres mode), it pairs so well with the Disting, it's a similar thing, but aimed more at modulation :)

This is mind blowingly good work! Like others have said, thank you so much for all that you're doing for sample makers and audio tinkerers alike! Your videos have been immensely helpful in my journey so far. I was wondering when using auto sampler, if you still would need to noise reduce your samples as you would typically before making an instrument?

Can you please make us some of those Punchy 808s 🥊. I love all the presets you made with this. Now I would love to hear some of those Modular Boomin 808s. Please make us a big library of them with your modular synth. Thanks
