Doll furniture is actually maybe the best idea I have seen for a long time.

I’ve been trying to establish Seramas for over a year now, and they’ve been especially challenging for a newcomer, but they’re absolutely my favorite breed of chicken. I will press on and hope to persevere!

It is so hard to loose a chick, we have had our share of defective chicks in incubations and one born with one side of of face did not develop is no eye on one side upside down in egg by pointed end. Thought for sure going to loose her; like you, had to get her out of egg. But she is thriving now just have to feed her mashed food and pulverized egg yolk and stained baby food. She has a cross beak too. She does not know she is deformed and is enjoying life with all the attention she gets. Do Love the houses you built for babies great video and imagination your chicks are so very happy. We Have 12 Serama eggs in incubator now and will be so happy if succeed in hatching just a few out. Hard breed to hatch but well worth it such happy little birds. But will never give up to try and save a chick out of an egg have saved others and they grew up happy and normal. But the unfortunate ones are so dear to your heart love them all and deserve to be saved if at all possible. I know a lot who say if chick don't hatch on their own no good let them go. Life is always good, no matter how short we might have them, learn to love from them they are a wonderful gift. You two are adorable and so creative. LOL in your home.

@@Helsteeds I Loved to hear your attempt to save that chick and made me cry. But what counted is you tried and gave the chick a fighting chance. The chick has a soul will be waiting for you in your garden in heaven. No defects exist in heaven Jesus plucked her up to fix her she is fine now growing strong in heaven. You will meet her again is the good news from death to life. The soul lives on in all of God's creations. They have no sin why so precious in our lives teach us so much.

Aaaw! So sorry you lost Frank, especially after all you did for him. You gave him the best chance. Poor baby. A beautiful video. Was lovely to see the other two thriving. And what a beautiful set-up you've got. The chick sofa! Those 2 are so adorable. You both hatched them out at the same time-ish that our Artemis was hatching ours.

Frank could have been saved, I think. I have had splayed leg babies and wry neck babies too. One thing though, i would never completely remove their ability to work the leg muscles. The mother hen possibly had a lack of vitamins prior to franks egg being laid. If you have this with another baby, my advice would be to give vitamins. Straight to beak, poultry cell is best for that. And make a small device to keep legs in place. A small straw is best, i used bandaids for my last one. She was a bantam, so not quite as small as frank but it worked. Good luck!

Beautiful video, but obviously very sad about little Frank 😢 You did your best! Thanks again for the mention! Noticed the cheeky duo’s combs and wattles at the end there..... perhaps a change of names in order? 😂 😁

Thank you Hayley! Yeah very sad but some are just not meant to make it unfortunately. And your spot on despite what people told us about wing length and having double layers they're not looking much like Hens now that's for sure! Lol

Awwe!! Poor Frank! You are amazing to have tried SO HARD! bless you! 😍 as for the end of your vid..HA HA I KNEW IT!! With most chickens the feather thing needs to be done when they're literally a day old, once they get a little bit older especially with Serama, the males wings are very long, and go down farther than females. I have a male and female so when I saw your chicks I thought for sure at least one of them was a male. You guys are pretty awesome! And the fact that you would transform your home to suit your animals and plants vs suiting yourself, is so incredibly selfless and amazing! I wish you all the most incredible luck and success in everything you do!🥰💕

Hi, I had a very similar experience last spring. I purchased 6 serama eggs from a local breeder and drove to pick them up. This was my first time hatching eggs in an incubator. Only 1 of the serama eggs hatched and the experience was very similar to your Frank. We named him Pipper, and he had a wonky leg that we tried to use tape to make him a splint/boot. After several tries, we gave up on the method. We massaged his little foot several times a day which he seemed to like, but it didn't really help. He was able to hop around on one leg a bit and flutter around on the ground using his wings. Since he was alone, we asked the farm we got the eggs from if they had any chicks we could buy that would make good companions for him. They didn't have any more seramas but gave us 2 Funky Polish chicks that were the same age. Even though they were twice Pipper's size, they did snuggle him to sleep which was very cute. Long story short, we carried Pipper around in a little pet backpack and built a little pen outdoors where he could watch the other chickens but be protected from predators or getting stepped on. Every night we put the 2 Funky Polish in with him to sleep. He lived a pretty spoiled life for about 4 months. However one day he became very lethargic and quickly passed away. His companion chickens are now integrated in with our laying hens. They are still very sweet and love snuggling. I do want to try seramas again, and this Christmas my daughter bought me a gift certificate for 4 serama chicks (not eggs), so I'll at least have a guarantee they will be alive when we get them (picking up.. no shipping). Your video brought tears to my eyes! Some people told us we should have just culled Pipper instead of keeping him on the way we did; but we gave him the best little life he could have had. Thank you for sharing your experience! Jill in Vermont

Oh Jill sorry that Popper didn't make it but it sounds like you did everything you could to nurture that little life and give it a chance which makes you a lovely human in my book. Polish chickens are also favourites of ours and we plan to get some eventually. Did you watch parts 1 and 2 of this series? The surviving chicks are little celebrities on our channel 🤣. Thank you for watching, commenting and sharing your story X

Rest easy ! you went above and beyond with the splayed leg chick and you done the correct things, it often works but also sad ending do happen, a great video. In the past we have fitted leg supports and once we even had a neck ring connected to the leg supports. We have also had luck feeding a very week solutions of honey and water to chicks that are very weak and poorly to give them energy ( about 1 part honey to about 30 parts water). Good luck but was that a cock a doodle doo in the vocal training department ! thanks and take good care
