First of all why the hell did they try this so called emergency brake test near a dead end. Usually it's into a catch siding into a sand pit with sufficient length. Bull shit planning which went totally wrong. Poor tree took the fall for ill planning.
And it clearly failed the test considering that it overshoot the end of rails and hit the coconut tree. And of course, the reaction of people towards the end. They were cleatly expecting it to come to a stop earlier.
So... How much of that was planned and how much was an accident? A multiple-unit trainset - as opposed to a push-pull type with a locomotive - should come to a stop much more quickly than this one did with BIE - brakes-in-emergency. EDIT: what caused such a long braking distance, I wonder.
This seems like one of the more older "rakes", I'm not engineer but I do know basics about these trains and to be honest It feels like the Breaking System or actual motors are very weak. It is a train running on electricity right ? These are maybe made for railway standards hence the long break time (despite it being called a metro) OR there is something wrong with the brakes itself, both are bad

The train was poor manufactured and their maintenance quality are horrible Never saw a train that the emergency brake is not even functional and the driver cannot do anything to stop the train until the it crash into two buffer stops and a coconut tree
That's exactly what I was thinking, apparently this is an older rake but the thing is that seems like this rake is built under specifications similar to a railroad railset where it takes longer for a train to completely stop or the breaks just straight up don't work
In many other countrys there are brakes on the train for braking, the amount of coconuttree-brakes for regular train traffic seems to be a little to high.
The coconut tree was the emergency brake
🤣
xD
Easy access to the coconuts.

Why the hell Kolkata Metro is using this pre historic era Rake for such critical testing? They could have used any current operational rake.
Already the 5 active routes have much less rakes than required. Thus these recently retired but "ok" rakes are used for trial and error phases.
Both are same rakes talking about AC Indian rakes). Obviously the design flaw in one will be the same as the other.

@@Sol_7No it doesn't. These buffers can be fixed to any standard rail anywhere so there is no need to have them so close to... a coconut tree 😂

Even normal brake should've worked at such slow speed...
Did it pass?
I'd hate to see what the normal braking capacity of that train is if that's emergency braking.
This is why tests are done.
Now they know that they need to rethink and recalculated the numbers!
Dont know much about emergency braking but Id put that down as a fail.
