I do know a location but it is not a normal thanator its a different version the stats are the same on all the parts it gives but the bonus like wildlife damage is different
There’s one called the boulderlands thanator by the east of the the ensnared lake. Could be wrong about the location since I never went out to hunt one.
So i found a white moss forest thanator at cradling pines next to carvers river on the budding watcher there in the clouded planes and looking at the comments we already have 3different types of thanator ( it is worth noting that altough the items gathered form this specific kind give different bonusses with the same high stat as the other ones this one for some reason only has meat hide and bone when harvesting but no tooth) happy hunting everyone!
@@ChillwJill I went to this location after finishing the DLC and I got instantly jumped by a thanator, no white screen at all, so i ran to your spot on the vine. worked a treat, then two more thanators turned up 😱
If you have second wind apex skill then you can easily get 1 shot kill on thanators. When you respawn thanator will stay still. You can also do it multiple times if a pack of them spawns.
Great content, best guide so far on thanators. Interestingly, the first time I met the creature, I also picked that tree. I was level 10 and got 1-shot time and time again. I even tried mines but no go. I assume they can’t get you on the side branch, correct? I am now lev 13 and I just want to try again for any kill. My heavy bow is only 80 so I wonder if it’s even possible…
Thank you! If you back up far enough on the side branch, they can’t get you. Don’t fall off though! I made that oopsie one too many times lol 😂 If you can’t one-shot kill it at level 13, maybe you can at least merciful kill it with 2-3 shots and still get stats of 89! Honestly, even if you don’t merciful kill it, you still get 83 stat parts and exquisite lean meat!
During that particular gameplay you see in the footage, I literally just fast traveled to Shaded Grove and walked down the mountain and they all spawned at once. I didn’t log out or do anything else like that. Just all spawned. Killed them all. Then collected all their parts. Not gonna lie. It’s probably a glitch. I’m sure the game meant for there to only be one there at a time. But hey, farm as much as you can until they patch it, hahaha 😂
That’s awesome! You must have great gear/weapons! It’s definitely rewarding when you finally have high enough gear/weapons to clean/merciful kill level 20 beasts 😂
@ChillwJill Definitely comes in handy. Helped a few friends get the perfect bones and horns etc. On the thanator use the 3rd ammo type in the staff sling and you can stun the thanators for a good few seconds to line up a perfect shot
I’ve noticed that when you ride into the area on your Ikran, it doesn’t trigger the frosty screen/thanator. And if you’re on the ground and call your Ikran, the thanator runs away. So my guess is that you can’t, unless someone else knows of a way
You get access code C by completing the side quest Severed Bonds BUT there was (not sure if they patched it) a glitch where if you are too far into the game, you cannot proceed with this quest as it won't let you call Anqa from a field lab. You have to complete Severed Bonds at least two to three times for you to get access code C because the point of the quest is to encourage you to kill feral wildlife. For me, the Severed Bonds quest was triggered the first time I came across feral wildlife in the Kinglor Forest. I completed the quest by killing some feral viperwolves. Then the quest went away saying it was complete. Then I came across another pack of feral wildlife in the Kinglor Forest and the quest reactivated. I completed it again by killing more feral wildlife. Then it reactivated once more when I came across a pair of feral thanator in the Upper Plains. When I killed the thanator, I finally got access code C. You can’t just travel to the Upper Plains, hunt down a feral thanator and kill it. It won’t give you an access code. You have to complete the quest a few times first before you venture to the Upper Plains.
@@masterlemonlime4916 This answer is gonna suck, but until they patch it, I don’t think there’s anything we can do. I am level 20 on my very first play-through and I am stuck and can’t call Anqa at any field lab. However, every new character I make, as long as I complete Severed Bonds right away in the early game, I can complete it with no problem.
What are some other non-feral thanator locations you know of?
I do know a location but it is not a normal thanator its a different version the stats are the same on all the parts it gives but the bonus like wildlife damage is different
Spool Island has one
I don’t remember the locations but I know there’s 4 different types of thanators 2 in the kinglor forest and 2 in the clouded forest

Geezus! how many of them are there?!!! I've only ever encountered 1 thanator in that location, not 7, thank goodness!
I'm pretty sure it was a weird glitch 😭🫠

I love your videos they’re amazing and you’re tutorials are super helpful
Thank you! That means a lot 🥹
Awesome video! What a cool hunt!
Thank you kindly!

That’s good to know! Thanks for that!
Please explain why there are 4 of them? 😊 I was just about to decide to hunt one butttttttt 4? Nevermind 😂😂
It was probably just a glitch in my game! Since then, I’ve had one at a time!

Awesome! I'm guessing this would also work on the Stormglider?
Thanks! I actually tried this on the Stormglider and it didn’t seem phased by it… I’ll have to try that one again 🤔
So im confused on how you get like 7thanators there. Did you restart your game after killing each one but dont collect it or am i getting that wrong ?

5 white moss thanitors will spawn at one time.
I can 2 shot the thanators with my shortbow and 1 shot with my heavy bow and spear thrower. I there's 3 thanators bosses I know of
