I have terrible insomnia. I clicked this video last night looking for something to help. It was only 6 minutes but I tried it anyway. I woke up this morning and I don’t remember a single thing about it. Thank you.
lol..same thing happened to me last night. It was 3am and I clicked the video to see what the process was and fell asleep before the video ended and I don’t remember a single thing about the video either.
I agree, and always said to my doctor that I considered sleep more paramount than food,(close call) But food I can deny for three days, sleep when absent messes up more quicker - it may just be me, but sleep is detrimental if absent. When my brain gets engaged with a problem ( not a worry, I mean a puzzle and the like, my brain don't know when to turn off) Sleep perchance to dream , Hamlet. Just relishing a good night's sleep.
Same thing happened with me. It was 3AM and I was just following instructions about relaxing forehead and cheeks and shoulders and I woke up now and don't remember if I even watched the complete video
I tried this and it works. The trick is that when you get into that 'no think' space, stay there. One doesn't realise how tense you are until you've tried this.
It’s called progressive relaxation. They teach it a lot to people experiencing anxiety. My mom used to have me do it when I had panic attacks as a kid.
Oh, so that's what it's called... usually our Drill Sargeant worked us to death, he was really the panic attack! After a day of training and drilling, there was never an issue with falling sleep, not in 2 minutes but in 3 seconds!
I use a similar method to relax my hippotherapy clients. I've been using it for years, and it works very effectively. Another possibility for those heavy, constant thinkers is for them to in their mind slowly repeat, "I feel very relaxed, very sleepy."
Thank you for this thoughtful video. It's similar to yoga nidra. For me the key is to slow down the breathing, making it natural. I love the image of the lake too.
I use a similar method only I start at my toes ,feet ankles ect. and moves up the body. I used this method on my children when they were small. It works for me. Staying asleep all night is the problem. I often wake at 3 or 4 in the morning.
Clearing the mind is tough. The imperative "Don't think" is counterproductive for me...it winds my mind up! BUT, allowing my mind to simply "set aside " its concerns does allow my mind to settle down and relax.
Thank you! This does work; I used to have tons of problems getting to sleep. I encountered this in print media from a member of the military, and this is essentially identical, but more thorough.
⚔️As a former Canadian soldier, I’ve never had a problem getting to sleep. On our seasonal concentration camp maneuvers, we would keep going for days, getting a crash dive nap in, as soon as we stopped. At times when we stopped to eat at mobile food kitchens; we sat against a tree or laid our heads on our packs, only to fall asleep immediately. We were wakened by the noises of others stirring about or giving orders, to saddle-up. First time it was unbelievable how we could keep going, even though, we thought we’d exhausted all of our energy. We were in top physical, and psychological condition. I watched a man, who had a large mosquito sucking blood from his head, as he slipped away; I had not enough energy to tell him, as I was also slipping away. As sunset to night the mosquitos were swarming around us, and in our food, as we had no choice but to eat it all. They were like a fog, that took our bloods. I lasted 6 yrs. Then I left. While worth the experience. Good night.🛡️
Ditto brother! I was looking for your comment. We did some rotations with the Canucks in Germany back in the good old days of the Cold War. What a bunch of wild animals, and yet such polite successful war criminals! It was a pleasure having you on our side!.... Grafenwörh was the shit!
This is yogic technique, practicing since Centuries, Savasana,Crospe pose, Yog Nidra,All are same,if someone wants a mind without thoughts, you should focus on breathing, coming in going out.Observe your breath or do Bharamari pranayama.
This is great information. Also can drink tart cherry juice and it works wonders too although I don't know why. If this doesn't help your mom, maybe the cherry juice will. Side note: the only store I've been able to find it in in my area is Publix.
@@brigettepinkard1557 Wow, how kind of you to reply! I just picked up some tart cherry juice and plan to share to the goodies with her. Thanks so much for your suggestion! I hope you have a wonderful day 🤗
With respect, sometimes it seems to me that everyone has a "method". Usually one with five points or more. Learning to relax everything completely and one part at a time is good to know. As is breathing deeply with the full depth of your lungs. Too much thinking may be more an anxiety thing and there are ways to counter that (I leave that to the experts). To me, its simply learn and practice. But be aware, being ill for example brings on other problems with sleep.
Lol my insomnia laughed at this… I’m sure it works for many though… when I get in a cycle of insomnia, literally nothing works, not even 3 hrs of yoga Nedra. Thank you for the post.
I know what will work for your insomnia. Let me put you through 3 months of US ARMY Basic training, or USMC boot camp. I will 100% percent guarantee that you will never have insomnia ever again!
Whenever I have insomnia I just stop trying to sleep. I do whatever else I feel like and eventually I sleep. It takes the pressure off. Mine is not chronic, just offering my 2 cents though. Good luck ❤
I use something very similar to induce a hypnotic state in another person. I've tried this on myself with a recording but still couldn't induce self hypnosis. Though, it is very relaxing.
I can fall asleep within 1 minute, if I imagine breathing slowly and deeply INTO my different body parts. Sometimes, I can even fall asleep within in three loooooong exhales. I learned this from a woman who coached the Canadian Swim Team in the 1980s, to improve their breathing. Good night! 😊

Same. When I do fall asleep it’s only a short time before I jerk awake suddenly having a panic attack. How a body can panic while it’s sleeping, I don’t know, but that’s my nervous system for you.

I tried this and it works.
The trick is that when you get into that 'no think' space, stay there.
One doesn't realise how tense you are until you've tried this.
I came across this technique about a year ago. This lady goes much deeper into detail. It works. May take a little practice but keep it up. It works
Thank you. I didn't realize how tense I was when I first layed down at night.

The 4-7-8 technique always works for me 😊
This has been working for me for over a year. When I get to the “don’t think” stage, the next thing I know is I’m waking up.

I remenber being taught this relaxation method in Aikido training classes over 50 years ago.
This method is thousand of years old.

You are so lovely. Thank you for helping me and so many others.
This reminds me of Yoga Nidra. It too helps to relax you and lull you into a deep sleep. TFS 😊🙏🏻
But yoga Nidra is usually about 45 minutes, and it’s intended to produce “yogic sleep”, which is a type of being awake.
Still so happy you're back. And not only back, but blessing us with a second channel 😇
Where is the second channel?
Wonderful method now i Need method to stop heavy snoring
Thank YOU maybe I will do it when I can't fall asleep (that's very rare). I usually fall asleep two minutes after my head touches my pillow!
Thanks Yasuko! I was falling asleep by the end of your explanation!

Hi
This is just a relaxation part of Nidra of-course a shorter version bcz Yog Nidra consists of Breathing techniques as well.
This in India been practicing since ages as Shavasana a corpse posture in yoga,,,,
Going to subscribe to your new channel now!!
That was relaxing to follow along with. Thank you.
Sounds like Yoga Nidra😊
Thank you for sharing this technique.❤
Lovely!
I think my mother taught this technique to the military. She used to do this all the time.
I visualize walking in my door, drop my bag and keys, and then take off my hat and coat... I rarely get farther than this.
My military method during my time in the Navy was to work for 3 days straight and then hit the rack. Boom. Asleep.
Good night! 😊
