The great thing about an idea is that you can always revist it. If you aren't happy with your results you can make another attempt. I learned that years ago as a Truespace modeler. Creative vision really doesn't have an expiration date. Your pieces are amazing to behold regardless.
Incredible piece. If we had more people like you, your brother, and your charity people, this world would be a much better place to live in. Thank you Doc.
I liked this from a still on woodturning UK but seeing the process and seeing it in movement I have even more respect - abslutely fantastic. Thank you.
I really like your projects , but I'd like to make a suggestion . If you make the bottom of your projecs concave , they thend to be more stable standing upstraight. Anyways, good luck on your future projects.
Beautiful piece of art! That cedar is gorgeous and I love the falling leaves. It's always interesting listening to what you want the outcome to be and seeing it come to be. Thanks for sharing, keep it coming.🌹🌹
It sorta looks like one side is "Spring Time"and the other side is "🍂 🍁 Autumn Time ". I "Love " It ! Great Idea. Next time figure out how to do a "Summer 🌞/Winter ❄️" one. Can't wait to see what you come up with next. Sincerely Yours 🤠 Mr Severance, "The Cake 😋 🍰🎂 🥳🎉 🎊 Man".
What a gorgeous piece of wood. The grain and the colors are so special and not the same in any other type of wood. You have such an interesting creative mind. This leaf vase is quite lovely, and other than the issue of the resin covering the tennin (sp?) being covered with resin it looked as though things went pretty well. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Another stunner for sure! Say I thought I might give you a idea since you do these beautiful window type vases. You can buy holographic refraction sheets 13,500 Amazon. There's nothing to peel just a thin sheet. Comes in a roll but you can also just buy sheets.. you would choose a black Mica powder etc&resin. On the side that's not holographic.. The black background really makes the holographic pop. I don't know it might be tricky because you can't put anything over the side that has the holographic it will disappear. Like any kind of sealer or something. To give you an idea you can look at Julie's "pouring your heart out" TH-cam channel. She just recently made some pendants. She makes her own silicone molds too. Recently made one for this. Anyway like I said just a thought. With your beautiful window vases would definitely be another stunning vase. They are truly works of art.
I would like to suggest something. See if you can get a scrap piece of 9 to 12 inch irrigation pipe Long enough to go from your table top to your catch bucket when you pour out the sand. I believe this would help you a lot.
Random idea from someone who has never done this - cover the tenon with 1/4 - 1/2 inch or so of silicone molding compound? You should be able to dig it out and get back to the original wood - maybe...
You're right, it is a beautiful piece of wood. Really nice concept with the seasonal leaves. Can't really do that here in coastal Queensland Australia cos our seasons don't change too much, a bit like California.
Gorgeous! I love the way you managed to put the leaves on their sides, so they really look like they’re floating to the ground. I agree with you wholeheartedly about our seasons. We’re up by Snow Basin and fall🍁is just breathtaking here, it’s my favorite season.
@@artgivinghope Thank you for what you do as a surgeon and as an incredible artist and the project that is so important against trafficking. I have watched your art grow so much over the time i have been watching you. I still chuckle over the project that involved the car and a purchase of a new pressure pot. 😋😂
trying to find the plastic sheeting at Home Depot and am having trouble finding what you used. Could you point me in the right direction? Beautiful piece!
I don't recall. It seemed to be very generic... I think this might be it: www.homedepot.com/b/Lumber-Composites-Boards-Planks-Panels-Wall-Paneling-Decorative-Wall-Paneling/PLAS-TEX/N-5yc1vZbqpjZq4z

Hi Dan. Awesome work. Can you give me the exact name of the material (plastic) you use to wrap around the bowl before you add resin? Thank you
You bet... it's "Polywall Utility Panels"
Thanks
Beautiful piece An. I love the grain on that. Dude! You need to get a steady rest.
Thanks! Father's day was a good one this year... steady rest just came. :)

One option could have been to hot melt glue a round scrap block on the rim and put the tail stock back against it until you finished the outside.

I was born and raised in Oakland CA. I was wondering if wood working helps you to de stress from work?
Yes! While it's not a very relaxing past time, I really helps distract the mind from the worries of the day...
trying to find the plastic sheeting at Home Depot and am having trouble finding what you used. Could you point me in the right direction? Beautiful piece!
Thank you! Look for " poly wall utility panels"
steady rest would definitely help. who doesn’t love buying new gadgets and gizmos for the shop?
You got that right!
Really a great piece of art. Something I’d would definitely like to own and support the purpose of which you create it for….
Thank you Will!

yep tenon cant handle that torque at that length got to have support unless a large mortise
Agreed!
Does the plastic sheeting have a brand name? Interested in trying your technique.
