Gentlemen, it has been a privilege playing with you tonight
Ppl speak of honorable deaths. This is one. Not going out in a blind sweaty panic. Going out doing what u dedicated your life to n giving others courage in the process. An honorable death isn't just for soldiers: musicians and mothers and old men can do it too. This is the scene that made me bawl my eyes out.

The musicians of the Titanic all died when the ship sank in 1912. They played music, intending to calm the passengers, for as long as they possibly could, and all went down with the ship. All of the men were recognized for their heroism, especially during the final hours of the sinking.
After the Titanic hit an iceberg and began to sink, Hartley and his fellow band members started playing music to help keep the passengers calm as the crew loaded the lifeboats. Many of the survivors said that Hartley and the band continued to play until the very end.
Reportedly, their final tune was the hymn "Nearer, My God, to Thee❤"
There were 3 band members that survive a leader, bassist, and idk the other one
@@SQUID_DYLAN_BAB all the musicians of the Titanic died in the sinking, no one of them survived
They were gentlemen, brave and true, right to their final breaths … and their f*cking employers did them dirty. Best as I can recall White Star Ocean Liners hired them from a separate company (whose name I honestly forgot), and when they were confirmed dead the employer had the nerve, the audacity to *charge their families for the uniforms they were wearing when they died!* 🤬🤬🤬
@@SQUID_DYLAN_BABAlas all died, as @naciosugo9701 says

I shed a tear 😢
There were 8 professional musicians aboard _Titanic_; all 8 perished, though only 3 of their bodies were recovered: bandmaster Wallace Hartley, bassist John Clarke, and violinist Jock Hume. One can only imagine what was going through their minds. The scariest, most dangerous thing that has ever happened in their lives, and they chose to stay calm and play on in an effort to stop people from panicking.

I believe that one of the violins was recovered from the wreckage of The Titanic - I saw a picture of said violin too in the article. It was a mess.... but not completely destroyed. What happens is that there is water damage (obviously) which separates each part of wood from the violin, and then there is warping. If there's no rotting (and there wasn't) then the violin could be put back together. There was a metal plate [possibly silver] attached to the tailpiece of the violin which is a replaceable part with an engraving saying something along on the lines of " This violin belongs to "me, Mr X" and I have the privilege of playing on the Titanic's maiden voyage". That part was still on the violin.
I know all of this because I am a violin maker and collector (performer too, but that's neither here nor there).

110 years of Titanic and this ship will never be forgotten. Titanic is a legend.
What are you talking about? It was a literal disaster. The only good thing that ship gave to us is this film. There's nothing good about the sinking of the Titanic.

The scene with the woman putting her children to bed and reading them stories as the ship goes down is absolutely heart crushing and devastating and hits me hard as well as that of the elderly couple holding onto each other, thinking about the love they shared together their entire lives.
This is not a movie for the faint-hearted.
I agree. Maybe because the movie has been etched into a core memory for me as I first saw it at 6 years old but I don't think I've seen anything more profoundly sad since then in movies
The elderly couple was representing the co owner of Macy's and his wife.
The woman putting her children to bed is Vasquez from Aliens

Untill very very recently I did not know this scene was a truth. That they stayed on the ship and played and played this song untill the ship sank. I listened to the interviews of survivors and all has confirmed this. Incredible. Absolutley incredible.
There are so many things in this movie that seem like they were put in for dramatic effect, but were based in reality. The priest who was praying while the final sinking was happening, the guy in baker's whites swigging from his flask next to Jack and Rose while they were going down, even the shooting. And yes, survivors said that they heard the band playing Nearer My God To Thee minutes before she went under. All of that was taken from actual accounts of the survivors.
Did you know the movie hours is how much it took the real titanic to sink

@@MegaLink20a horrible way to die, the water fills up n then u drown,
The mother with her kids. Nobody was coming to help and she knew it. Her own fear suppressed in the knowledge that there was no good outcome for them. But she made them feel safe and secure with her. In a wee box on the freezing ocean far from any hope. How much i feel for that character 🥺
I can't take that scene. It just devastates me. A mother's love and protective instinct for her children knows no bounds even if the outcome is inevitable, at the very least she must make them feel safe and secure as you said. For there is nothing more devastating to a mother than seeing her children in distress.
When you finally accept your fate, you make peace with it
And I know in my heart, all of those in the Titanic disaster who accepted their fate united in Heaven together where we all become one loving family and receive treasures that greatly surpass what is on Earth.

After all this time, the "Titanic" has claimed 5 additional victims. The sub has passed the limit how deep it can submerge.

When watching disaster films, it's easy to think to yourself:
"It's only a movie. This isn't real"
This movie is no exception. BUT then you remember: This happened for real! This was a real tragedy in which 1,503 men, women and children died. Everybody and their grandmother weeps over Jack's death. But seeing the Strauses in bed and the mother tucking in her children as the ship sinks, that shit gets me every time.

How the world has changed
Can't believe I've never watched this movie yet
Such bravery, God bless their souls, ismay survived, but he was responsible for this catastrophe, plus he reduced the lifeboats from 48 to 16, for aesthetic reasons...it was murder really.
@Mark Emerson yes, Bruce ismay the chairman, the titanic wasn't the fabulous vessel people thought, was made from low grade steel, with 3rd grade iron rivits around the front, full of impurities, (slag) no watertight compartments, problems with the rudder, she had trouble turning, and the lifeboats were reduced from 48 to 16 with 4 collapseable type, Alot of cutting corners, the unsinkable titanic, was very sinkable. When she went down, the Olympic was brought back into dock, the double skin Hull extended above the waterline, the watertight compartments became watertight, and had the correct amount of lifeboats, but this was too late for the 1500 who died, in opinion it was murder.
Bruce ismay retired to Connemara on the Atlantic coast of Ireland, back then a very remote part of the world. Irish was still the predominant language in those parts and so locals had given him the nickname brú síos mé which translates to put me down in reference to his hopping aboard the lifeboat. That house was up for sale a few years ago and I was lucky to be able to tour it on the day of it's auction.
@@paulhester1675 thank you for the information I bet it was very interesting, ismay was branded a coward too.
@@MrSimplesimon007 You should go to harland&wolff and tell them they used low grade steel...i doubt you would leave ireland intact...or at all
I know the documentary you probably got all that horseshit from..and it is just..bad
Also, unlike Lightroller,Ismay actually put people into the boats...and left the ship once noone was near to board the lifeboat he entered
Lightroller is the murderer of that night, certainly not Ismay...After all..Titanic could´ve had 100 Boats...THEY DID NOT EVEN HAVE TIME TO PROPERLY LOWER THE 20 THEY HAD!Jesus, way too many people these days are too dense for basic maths
That reduction was still within legal limits of era it was built in. Titanic had lots of overoptimistic decisions in it's design and management.
Very sad......god save us

I feel sad and sorry for the people...
But this also teaches us something: never bluff. unsinkable? Even God himself cannot sink the ship? Be humble and know our place as human beings.
That was exactly the sort of mentality that caused the WW1 to break out soon after. The rest is history and the world has since turned into a cuckooland with hundreds of millions murdered or starved to death by different versions of marxist ideology that have replaced the values on which our civilisation was built. That in perspective, this film is even more sad than intended.
Nobody claimed her unsinkable and said even god can't sink.
That's just another myth surrounding Titanic.
She was described as practically unsinkable, which was spread and exaggerated by the press and people. Incidents like RMS Republic floating long enough for rescue and RMS Olympic surviving Hawke collision all reaffirmed this notion among people.
Salute for those brave musicians rest in peace 🕊️
I wish she still sailed today.
