Right on and thanks for watching. I had been wanting to do this for a while and since I'm in a city where I can't Bushcraft I thought this would be a good time to do this video and some others. Stay Safe
New to the Virginia Bushcrafter channel. Enjoy your content as well as your approach to sharing and learning how to do the skills necessary to make it out in the woods. With over a couple of hundred videos on your channel, I’ve got some catching up to do. But, I can certainly say that I’m pleased with the content that I have viewed to this point. Concise and informative. Thanks - Tennessee Smoky
Welcome aboard, Tennessee Smoky, and I appreciate your Support. Yes, I really enjoy the Bush and I like sharing what I learn. There is just so much more that I want to learn and share. Stay Safe
Mr! You can play on my team any day! I have a tendancy to carry a lot of gear myself. Although I have a Haversack, I don't use it a whole lot. I just can't get everything I want into one. I don't double up much, I keep a tight a grip on my gear, something I took away from my time in the Army, " Losing your gear could cost you your life ", always know where you gear is at all times. Like you and your keys, I have a spot for what I take with me, so I know where everything is supposed to be, so I don't have to search much. Enjoyed the video! I keep wanting to call you Chuckie! I have a Ham radio buddy of mine, and man, y'all could at least pass as brothers! You look alike, and you sound alike. Pretty cool!! 73, God Bless.
Hello again, Sir. Yes, I do feel that I carry a lot of stuff, and some of it is really redundant. I think it is still me having to build up confident because I am always thinking, "What If". So, I go through a routine with my gear all the time; what's in the top, what's on the outside, what's on the inside, and so on. However, I have lost Tent Pegs, but I now have a routine/habit for that. I'm really glad you like the video, and I can understand when people remind people of other people. Stay Safe my friend.
An Ace bandage. Would be good for a rolled ankle. I watched a lot of survival bug out bag get home bag video's. And no Ace bandage. All the weight people are carrying just bound to roll an ankle or twist a nea and so on. Just saying. I think it would be good to have. Good video. God bless. From Glenn CATT. In Massachusetts.
@@jenniferbauman4802 Thanks for dropping in Jennifer, you are appreciated. Yes, I agree with you; an Ace Bandage is a necessity in anyone's bag. I do carry, not one, but two Ace Bandages specifically for some of the reasons you mentioned. Stay Safe
I also carry a lot of water.. at least two nalgene bottles full. If I can avoid filtering.. I can extend the life of my filters. I have that same Kelty pack and it's been great. Thanks for the video
Wow! My friend you do carry a lot of gear, especialy paracord. This is much more than i generally carry but thats just me. You do seam to have all of your baces covered. You are exactly right on having plenty of backup items. I thurroughly injoy your videos. I would love to meet you some day. I am here in NC so we are somewhat neighbors. One thing for sure, we are like soals. Stay safe and God bless you my brother.
Thanks for watching, Old-man-of-the-Forrest; you are appreciated. Yup, I carry a lot of gear especially paracord/binding material. I have used quite a bit of it building suspended beds/hammocks. Being in the Bush by myself, I never want to run out of anything. I am so glad you like the video; I like to share what I learn. I am in Northern, VA, maybe will meet at a Meet-Up or something. Stay Safe and God Bless you as well.
@@thevirginiabushcrafter8833 it's a breath of fresh air to hear someone state that they are still learning. I'm a firm believer that we should continue to learn throughout our lives. I see too many that profess to know it all. They don't. I find a lot of knowledge and wisdom in your videos. I watch probably ten bushcrafters looking for things I don't know or better ways to do the things I do know. We all have our own way to do things but that doesn't make one right and one wrong. I have never seen you do anything I feel is wrong. Keep up the great videos and continue to learn and practice.
Yeah, I'm trying to find a way to lighten it up, but there is so much stuff you need in the Bush, especially when you are by yourself. If other people where with me, some could carry the cutting tools, some could carry the food, some could carry the sleeping equipment. But since I am by myself, I have to carry it all. Thanks for joining and Stay Safe.
My pack weighs 20 lbs not including water and food and ive never felt at a disadvantage even for an 8 day trip into the desolate and unforgiving heart of The Everglades.
Thanks for dropping in Cliff. With your pack weighing 20 lbs, it is apparent you have a great deal of experience. I aim to do the same at some point and time. I'm sure The Everglades is a life-fond memory. Stay Safe.
