Lori McKenna draws her much of her inspiration from sources relatively personal and mundane-her marriage, children, family, and hometown-but the songs that result feel universal and profound. Her voice dignifies the unseen struggles of everyday life as well as Springsteen, and there is a strong, feminine independent streak in her vision reminiscent of Dolly Parton.
But McKenna’s voice is all her own, and it’s brought her critical and commercial acclaim both as an artist in her own right, and as a writer of hit songs for the likes of Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Little Big Town, and more. She’s won Americana Music Awards, CMAs, GRAMMYs, and graced some of the most prestigious stages in the world, and we are honored to host Lori McKenna to kick off our Spring 2021 2nd Shift concert series.
