    1964 was a hell of a year.... The Buck 110 and the Ruger 10/22. Two classics still popular as all get out today. I just got one of these LTs at Walmart for 20 bucks....and I'm really impressed with it. So glad to be supporting American made stuff as well. All my Spyderco, Benchmade, and Kershaw's are USA made too....at least the ones I buy. Great video man. Good assessment.

    I carried a 422 on my web gear. I didn't want a bayonet or Rambo knife. I figured I was a hunter before I was a Soldier and Dad's 110 was an excellent knife. Carried it on my webbing on three continents. I digress. It was a great knife. Recently, I bought two of these knives, one for a friend and one for myself. Can't go wrong with this blade.

    You can tighten up the pivot by gentle hammering. Just make sure to check that you don't tap it too tight.

    Buck has a lot of experience with those type pressed pivots ,they have been doing them since the late 80's & early 90's so they have confidence in that pivot point as long as you don't abuse it like the foolish do. 😊

    my edc knife for years and years, was a Buck 112. As the social situation here circled the drain, I went to a 110, wanting the extra blade length. but also, as the years went by, I had no backside to support the clasic's weight, and went to an Outdoor Edge edc. But I missed my 110. After seeing your video, I saw the best of both worlds, and ordered one of the 110 lightweights. I can't wait to get it in. Thank you for the video!

    Took the chance and got one. It's not bad. Mine has very little if any blade play. It's so light you can forget it's on you belt. I've got two traditional 110's and still intend to use them but the Lightweight just became my heavy use knife. At $24 and it's utilitarian looks I won't baby this one. Thanks for the review.

The 110 and 119 are classics knives that Every American outdoorsman should have in there collection. I collect knives but only American made knives. Anyway thanks for sharing and God bless 🇺🇸

    I used to carry a BUCK 110 most of the time. Until about 5 years ago or so. When I switched to a Buck 110 Eco-Lite. I thought it was a shame when they discontinued those. These plastic handled ones don’t look as nice as the 110 Eco-Lites did but appears to fill the same niche. Maybe if these work out Buck will come out with different colors, like they have on the Bantam series. Thanks.

  • @moneystewart5257

    It's definitely a Budget Folding Knife ,but Buck had a lightweight 110 folder called the Ecolite that looked very good and seem to have been made a little better that I had plan to purchase and never was able to find one, that is a good knife for the price and I may ad one to my collection but I still want a Ecolite 110 Buck Folder.

  • @9unslin9er
    @9unslin9er 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I was thinking of picking one of these up, but seeing closeups of the knife in your video have convinced me otherwise. It's pretty clear the strength of the classic 110 particularly where the blade meets the lock bar have not transferred to the LT model. The blade is far too shallow in the handle, with no reinforcement like the brass plates give on the classic. That's where your SxS play is coming from, and I like my fingers.

      It moves, yeah, but the strength is still present. Use it hard, it won’t break. GRN material has a higher tensile strength than steel.

    • @christopherray122
      @christopherray122 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Honestly, the weight is what makes me trust it. I grip it tight. I'm careful with it. I respect it. Plastic light knives are like toys.
      Definitely like to see some destruction test comparisons.

    • @paulross9287
      @paulross9287 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was shocked how light my 119 was when I bought it. I suppose they're plenty sturdy, but the lack of heft made me doubt it's durability on a subconscious level. Same thing with the 110 light. I'm old enough that I automatically relate light (plastic) with flimsy, but with modern materials that isn't always the case.

    • @gcalvaro
      @gcalvaro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paulross9287
      Same thinking here. I realize how sturdy some light modern materials are (titanium, carbon fiber, etc), but unconsciously lightness makes me think it's synonymous of flimsy, because traditionally it's been like that (plastic, etc.) So I tend to prefer heavy materials (brass vs aluminum, etc.) 👍🏻

    I am excited for this. Knife news posted the pics and it immediately went on my wish list. Curious if there is any “soft” spots in the handle. As in if you open it can you squish/pinch the handle together, like you were closing up the blade slot? Does that make sense?

      still my favorite for processing whitetails after several dozen of them. A much beloved father in law gave me a 112 for Christmas in 1988. Not a month later, I was digging a bullet out of a rotten log, and the tip snapped off. I was going to get the blade replaced under that forever warranty, when I looked at it, and decided to round the tip off, and make it a skinner. After several dozen deer, and a bunch of years, it's still my favorite dressing knife, though I've finally sharpened it to it's logical conclusion. He has passed on, and rather than do that, I've retired it to a wall mount, and replaced it with a Vanguard.

    I would have liked to see them upgrade the hardware to torx and actually inset them into the handle.... also- they could have gone full G-10 or Micarta with no bolsters. That would have been nice... I think Buck leaves too much blade play in many of their synthetic handled knives any more... I think W.R. Case does a better job with that when the knives are pinned. Personally I think overall Buck QC has gone way down hill- I get the purpose of making affordable USA made knives... but most people that buy USA is for the quality and pride aspect- if they continue to ignore basic stuff people will continue to leave the Buck Brand behind

    Seems to me that without liners the blade will quickly become wobbly with hard use. Perhaps it's meant to be used accordingly. Makes sense...it isn't a tank like the brass 110...which gets wobbly easily enough itself. [with regular use anyway]

    I wish Buck would make the 110 with a deployment similar to Kershaw's SpeedSafe. Or that Kershaw would make their own 110 clone with it. So tired of seeing only gimmicky knives for sale at stores. Thinking of Spyderco in particular.

      According to a Buck rep it's because a lot of the final finish and polish on a 110 comes after they've already assembled the knife and there really wasnt any way they could do any of the final polish process on the LT without damaging and scratching the shit out of the plastic handle. It's the same blade for $25 guys. Don't whine about it not being shiny enough.

    Tumbled blade in the new one... closes gaps and makes it even more corrosion resistant...

    I prefer the original. The original needed a sheath due to The weight. There's no need for it with the light version.

      I just bought one for 49$ at the local ranch and farm store, I thought it might have been on sale but I see they have another one in display for the same price.

    Great knife. Use it as a work knife and it doesnt feel like you are carrying a brick in your pocket.

    1964..... The year the Ruger 10/22 and the Buck 110 came out...... coincidence? Probably not.....this was probably the work of friendly aliens. Lol.

    Can't you just give that rivet a whack with a big hammer if it starts having Blade play? As the rivet is not ground over.

    It looks okay but I'll just probably just buy the regular book 110 instead of that one through a little bit more money in and grab me a broken skull knife
