    I purchased from blade HQ and the knife rolled the edge the first time I used it. It was not a cheap knife it just had a bad heat treatment I believe. Blade HQ said they would not take it back and I had to contact the manufacturer. They said to send it back to blade HQ and they said again it wasn't their problem. I will never ever deal with them again. I now only purchase local even at a higher cost the customer service is better and face to face interaction is always a better way to go.

In addition, as a viewer, I wish more TH-camrs were this open and honest. Being a blade enthusiast for longer than I care to admit, I’ve noticed a cycle with many knife manufacturers and dealers. I have always enjoyed supporting these up and coming businesses with seemingly good business ethics and personality. But it sees that the more popular companies grow to the point that something happens to them. Not sure if it’s the corporate world taking an interest in them or what but the part I liked in dealing with them disappears and they start operating like a machine...B. HQ being one of them. They seem to reach a peak then start sliding down the other side making room for the next rising star...

      Yeah… I’m tracking the changing of the guard in their marketing department (and I’m seeing really good folks leave and inconsistent style of content w/much fewer views). And with the move to another state I wonder if they needed to do a big hiring push for those that couldn’t move with the company? If so, that probably affected most departments.

    Same deal on my end long story short my son bought me a knife as a gift had it laser engraved all done by blade HQ
    The first time I tried to take apart the knife everything was stripped loaded up with lock tight .. called Blade HQ with in 30 days of getting the knife
    They told me it had been engraved when ordered they can’t take it back . I asked if they could send me body screws for replacement they said I would need to call Artisan cutlery.. multiple phone calls /emails over 5 months now no response from artisan … called blade hq again this week it’s now January and they referred me to eBay and a few other sights … still northing from artisan cutlery
    At this point if this was not a gift from my son I would have thrown it out due to the fact the liner lock has failed and I can’t get it apart to repair it .. I took it to a gun smith paid good money to have it taken apart and the pivot was so full of lock tight it broke coming out so now I have a knife my son paid 135 dollars for that’s put back together with “ make it work” hardware
    I will always keep this knife because of what It means to me
    But never again buy an Artisan cutlery or CRJB knife again
    I will not buy from Blade HQ again … to that end I will be looking to buy American made knife made in the US with US parts only from this point forward

They've responded quickly and sort everything out with me. I've even called and had great service a few times without long waits or missed calls. Only call that was missed was because I was working with central time and didn't convert to their hours of operation. Not to mention their questionable blade shape choice for the crkt minimalist in d2 cause a short stumpy cleaver is such a practical blade shape and only offering their d2 model on their site as only a cleaver blade made no sense (Then again i have zero use for a cleaver cause i view them as a food prep knife.) . Plus after many of the old staff left who actually had interesting input it now feels like "pretend you like this product and ham up how great it is" much like their weird almost sponsored like droning about how great the benchmade bugout is.

    My BladeHQ experiences have always been good.
    It's probably a manpower issue. We're all feeling that. It's difficult getting people - even more difficult to get good people. People answering emails concerning customer service is probably a little lower down the chain. I don't think this is BladeHQ, I think this is endemic of what every business is going thru.
    Is this video too harsh? A bit. When they get in touch with you, will they tell you the truth about why they're so behind in answering emails? Probably not. Since the C-Flue, the business landscape is changed.

    • @BudgetBugout

    Knife Centers Customer Service isn't much better. I bought a Vosteed Gator from KC they literally shipped it in a soft envelope. When it arrived the tin in came in was CRUSHED on one end. The knife was OK but when I contacted them they were like "Yeah we ship in envelopes if you want it shipped in a box ASK." If I'm spending fucking 80+ bucks on a knife I expect some care when my item is shipped out. Needless to say I won't be back. Glad you got some resolution.

    I haven't had a problem with customer service from BHQ. I bought a Rat 1 with carbon fiber scales that i didn't like, there was no grip on the knife. I called em, asked the customer service how can return the knife, they sent me a email with the shipping slip, no problem. But this was when they were still located in Utah. I have noticed though, there viewership has gone down since the old hosts left BHQ, either cuz they moved or those people started their own channels/businesses.

    Blade HQ is having some issues even now. I ordered 3 knives a few weeks back. They took payment for the order right away and then I didn't hear anything from them for over a week. I was expecting a 'your order has shipped email' and never got one. I finally got my order over a week later but there was no messaging at all until it arrived and then just to tell my it arrived. WTF?

    That particular CRKT knife is made in China and I am sure that Chairman Xi doesn't care if your sheath works at all. If you want to get their attention send a letter (the kind that is written on a piece of paper) instead of an email. You could probably go a step further and send it by Certified Mail with a return receipt (and pay the extra fee to require a signature on it).

    Ever since they closed their brick and mortar store (north of Salt Lake City) to the public their customer service has gone down hill fast … honestly i was a loyal customer and enjoyed their TH-cam personalities…. but I have found myself looking elsewhere to get my knives. I wonder if the high turnover is a direct reflection of how the company treats their own employees (or customers)

    I don't think you're being rude at all. But I've had positive experiences with their consumer service before. But also had bad experiences with other departments from them like packaging. I've had my knives put in sealable bags not being sealed just left open. My knives fell out in transit. I sent them pics of what I received and they sent me new knives. The issue I think you're dealing with is that is seems like it's intentional. Like they know it's you and they are avoiding you on purpose. But I could be wrong. Maybe they are going through changes in the customer service department.

    Marty - I’m sorry that you’ve had such a bad experience trying to be made whole as a paying customer. Since I have never reached out to BHQ customer service, I have no personal experience with that department. But, a replacement or refund should have been offered to you. Thank you for respectfully sharing this information with the community. I am hoping that there are not a lot of other examples of this “ghosting” by that department. The customer is always right!

    I would involve the manufacture. After I get poor responsiveness I go right to the manufacturer. This can help with attention and action. Best of luck in resolution. Oh one more thing, an old fashioned phone call to get person to person conversation can also be really good to get action.

    • @BudgetBugout
      @BudgetBugout  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I just sent CRKT and email but I wanted to give BHQ lots of time and chances to fix this because we the customers are willing to pay extra for their products with the understanding that they have processes in place to help in these instances.
      And yeah I wasn’t able to call due to being stationed overseas at that point in time. I’m back stateside now so that’s why I’m bringing it back up.
      I know I’m not the only person who’s had a similar experience so I wanted to get this conversation started so that things improve for us as customers (maybe they will hire more people or fix their processes as a result).

  • @randallkelley3599
    @randallkelley3599 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @BudgetBugout  ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually BHQ will replace defective products that they sell. It’s the same way with Amazon.com or most any other retailer (online or otherwise).
      However, at this point I may have no choice but to contact CRKT directly.

  • @SeemsLogical
    @SeemsLogical ปีที่แล้ว

    I've ordered from a few different online stores. Only once did I have an issue with my order. When I ordered a khukuri from Tora Blades in 2017 I had an order that normally takes 2 months to complete end up taking 10 months. But there was a very good reason for this delay.
    In 2017 there was a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit their Kathmandu workshop. Thousands of people died in that earthquake and I imagine that many of the kamis employed by Tora lost family and friends as well as their homes in that disaster. I wrote it off as I was never going to get that order fulfilled but that they needed the money more than I did. I didn't inquire about it after my initial email so when it showed up on my door step I was impressed with it. It's all hand made and was made perfectly. And the time it was made makes it a modern piece of history, it was forged during an earthquake. That will probably stay in my collection forever.
    All my other experiences were great. BladeHQ sent me my knife purchases on time every time. White mountain knives performed the same way. KnivesShipFree has the best customer service, they send me Christmas cards each year, even on the years when I didn't order a knife from them they are real nice folks over there. KnafSale was the last spot I ordered from and I talked directly with Eric the owner, really friendly and very committed to getting his customers needs met promptly and correctly. I guess I have been lucky over the years as I have never once been burnt on a purchase, sale, trade or mod deal.

    I can't say I've had to deal with Blade HQ's customer service, but aside from a couple crazy sales I've only purchased dealer exclusives from them and haven't had a need to reach out.
    I did get some titanium scales for my Benchmade Bugout from Knife Center that aren't machined correctly to accept the original hardware barrel spacers (and there isn't alternate hardware sent with the scales). I reached out and haven't received a reply yet, however I did send the email on a Friday, so there's still a couple days before I'd start to worry.
    I've had some decent service when needed from a smaller dealer, White Mountain Knives. They're pretty quick to get back to any contact I've had over the last few years I've been buying from them. They're a smaller dealer though, so the amount of stock they end up getting for new knives tends to sell through very quickly on release date.

    It’s been a year. What happened? So to return something you have to reach out by email or can you just send it back?Seems like a waste of employee time to actually talk to someone. For instance, when you buy some thing off of Amazon, you don’t have to actually talk to somebody. You can just click a few buttons on your screen and then send it back. I know with knives it’s kind of weird because they have to make sure you didn’t use the knife, but there’s gotta be a better way.

    BHQ is last on my list to order from, nothing ever bad enough to swear off of them, really no problems other than shipping taking a week plus anytime I order anything, so I’ll still grab exclusives, but if it’s something I can get ANYWHERE else, I’ll go those routes instead. The well known places like DLT, KnifeJoy, KnivesPlus and others have always been stellar with customer service and shipping speed so I’m much happier to give my money to people who are willing to put effort into what they provide.

    I have had nothing but great experience with The Knife Center. I looked at Blade HQ but never used them. The truth is customer service sucks everywhere. I am not sure however what you goal is, as you are not really clear as to your issue or concerns other than the retention issue which is really more of a manufacturing issue so CRK would be my target. I'll never buy another CRKT product ever again and I got rid of every one of their products I had. I had a simple, easily rectified issue and got the worst customer service I've ever had from any company. Very dissmissive and "sorry about your luck" attitude after 3 months of trying to get in touch with someone repeatedly. Leatherman has always been awesome as well as ,Cold Steel, SMKW, BUDK and Gerber. Can't speak for any of the others. Oh yeah Rocky Mountain Outdoors is horrid. I ordered a sheath for my Blackpowder hatchet and they sent it to an address 40 miles from my house and it took me a solid 4 months of e mails and calling to finally get a reluctant refund along with a crappy attitude. Never dealt with Blade HQ, I can always finf what I want someplace else cheaper and usually less or free S&H.

    But i did have a bad experience with a Tshirt company. I had ordered some shirts n never recieved them, they were already paid for. I emailed them hundreds of times over the span of a year, maybe more. Id comment on their Facebook, asking where my order n I was banned from commenting, even on their live feed vids. I had even called their local post office n asked about my order, if they had it n the post office didn't. A whole year later, i got my order. I was supposed to receive 6 shirt, cuz it was a mortal Kombat 3 pacc n a symbiotes 3 pacc, but i only received 4 of the shirts, so 2 from each pacc. I never did bother emailing them about the missing shirts.

    I can't speak to the customer service issue/s that you are discussing on this video however perhaps I can advise you on solving your root issue.
    The amount of retention of pretty much all Plastic and or various different forms of Kydex sheaths / Holsters is totally customizable by the end user with the use of either a blow dryer or a heat gun, you could look up detailed videos on this process if you like, I myself have adjusted a few sheaths and holsters to suit my own personal preferences myself, it really easily accomplished, and I wish you good luck with this matter.
